I am looking for a replacement for Vangelina and a high top Movano has come onto my radar, my budget is pretty small so I don't have many options! It has quite high mileage at 170, but it is ex fire brigade service vehicle, so used by mechanics to fix other vehicles so probably looked after?

Anyone have experience good or bad they would like to share?

I will be converting it to a camper using the bits I can from Vangelina and adding a few luxuries (shower) as I have more space and can stand up in it.

All advice welcome!

Thanks

have you read this? Vehicle is very similar. Although convertors I have spoken to suggest the Fiat is the best base vehicle.

Thanks surroundedbyhills, yes, spent a lot of time on that thread, and already converted one small van, this is an upgrade to a bigger van. Just wondering if anyone had experiences with this model or vauxhall vans as I have only had ford vans and rubbish cars! 🙂

Used to have a long high Renault master ( same van I think )? As my daily drive
Ours killed it's gearbox 6 speed at 120k well know for it too.
It was a 2006.
Got it for a camper conversion that never got finnished
Was great to drive about 30mpg round town and a bit more on a run as long as I kept less than 80 on the motorway

I'd soon have another. I Px ours 4 ish years ago with 130 on it and still see it locally most weeks

Thanks orangeboy, I will make sure I have a good listen to the gearbox! I drive like my gran so keeping the speed down is no problem!

Thanks!

A friend who runs a Camper conversion company was very interested in those vans as they look to see what will be the most common van on the market second hand in three years. Sky and the like were buying those in large numbers so he decided it was worth developing stuff for that van, due to the numbers of them in use.
No idea about the gearbox, but if the van was cheap enough you could get a spare.

Brill mikey, that's the kind of news I want to hear, means parts will be plentiful for a long time yet! Does your friend sell parts or just full conversions? If they sell parts I am interested!
