I know they're out of fashion and I'm definitely in the bum bag fan group but I'm wanting a new bag for big days out in the hills. I'd like the phone to be as accessible as it is from the waist belt on my camelbak hip pack but I can only seem to find one massively expensive evoc bag with a pocket big enough on the waist strap.

The phone fits nicely in a few pairs of shorts but not all of them so although I know that's an option I'd like it in the bag.

Not too fussed about it being bike specific so a hiking bag would do the trick too.

I've seen people using a phone case / holder which attaches to the shoulder strap of a pack. This type of thing I think. Evoc phone case

I use a similar one to the evoc case but mine is from muc off. Put the waist band through the loops at the back and it's just like an extra (phone sized) pocket

Does it move about on the waist band at all?

Ask Aiguille Alpine if they can fit one to one of their standard bum bags?

Must say that mine feels fairly stable when it's on. I don't really think about it when I'm on the trails, once the bumbag is on and tight it doesn't really move at all

There's 15% off alpkit rucksacks at the moment.

I've been wondering the same thing if my phone will fit in the waist strap and not be too bulky? I need to pop into a shop and try one on although they are good with post returns.

I do have a phone bag attached to my walking bag shoulder straps that works brilliantly with a bit of tweaking but I've never been able to make it work with my camelback.

Might be a bit less stable on a rucksack style bag, bumbag seems to have a thicker waist band and seems to work. Never tried it on my backpack yet to be honest

I had a pouch that fitted on the shoulder strap that worked well. Christ knows where it is.

You'd think it'd be a pretty common request too

Edit a bit like this...

I have ten extra phone pockets and none seems to fit. Tatonka Phone Pocket XXL should iPhone 12 with slim case - I know that XL is too tight fit and I don't want to lose the case as sweaty hands with slippery phone is recipe for disaster.

Snickers (workwear brand) phone holder fits most phones easily but it has attachment system which does not work as well with hydration packs. Mine is few years old though and they sell different one now (9746 model).

To clarify my bum bag is a camelbak and its snug but it fits in the waist pocket. I'm after an actual bag it'll work with! Most bags it seems have pretty narrow waist bands and I think then it would slide around quite easily. Ideally want it on the waist portion of the straps rather than the chest straps as I'm fairly sure it would annoy me there. Seems some EVOC bags have thicker bands so that might stop it moving as much.

Could do with something about 15-20 litre size so it has enough space to carry all the required back up gear.

We have a Scott Grafter and older Scott Trail - both have bigger hip belt pockets built in, ideal for a mid-sized phone (our's have iPhone SE or Galaxy A40 in). Both 15lt or so.

We also have an older Salomon 10lt running pack that also has a hip belt pocket on, but it is a bit snugger on a phone.

They are far simpler and better featured than our Evoc and Osprey bags.

Not sure I would want to land on my phone if i had a crash.

Hip pockets are for things you don't care if you land on in my book...haribo, sunglass wipey bag thing, that sort of thing.  Not phones, multitools, keys and what not.
