As title really. I'm about to order a Hope threaded bottom bracket for a 30mm crank but I'd like to use a socket type tool rather than a spanner type. Does anyone know what fits?

AFAIK it's only the Hope spanner type tool that fits.

I've got pretty much every tool in my workshop for these, and none of them will fit the Hope, only their spanner type.

I don't think one exists, the socket one for 30mm park do is for race face etc which have 12 splined rather than 16 like hope iirc.

Just about to buy one of these. What took to remove my existing race face 30mm?

There is a 12 splined one for raceface, be easier to take it to a LBS to take it off rather than spending on a tool you wont use again if you are binning the RF BB (which you should)

The RF BB is the same standard as Rotor BB's. I've got a Rotor BB spanner, and the largest Park Tool socket in my workshop. Sadly the Hope BB is even larger which requires Hope's own BB spanner.

The tool Tweeks supply is quite poorly finished, sharp edges to the handle & thin steel. It works, and may even be the genuine Hope one but either take a minute with a file to dress the edges of the handle or at least wrap a rag around it.

My 30mm Hope bb tool from tweeks was the same, came in a Hope plastic bag but with no Hope markings on the tool etc.

The one my lbs have is the same and theirs was supplied by Hope.

WTF did Hope have to come up with a different design of tool when RF/Rotor/FSA have managed fine with the same design? I already have a workshop drawer with about 8 different bottom bracket tools and wasn't planning to buy another. I've managed to eek-out my RF Cinch ones for a year (on my second) so was planning to replace with something more durable / easier to service.

My Hope 30mm BB came with the spanner included. Again no markings etc but is definitely a Hope product (looks v similar to their bottle opener). As said above, use a rag round the handle if you have sensitive hands.
