Got three chilli plants from B&Q garden centre a few months back. Through the repotting process I lost the little tags telling me which one was which so I now have no idea. Can STW help me identify these and say which ones will burn my face and and which won't.
No.1 looks like it may be Chocolate and will offer 300,000 Scoville units
No.3 may be hot lemon which is 100,00 Scoville units.
Middle one someone else may know.
Looks like exactly the same three we have! Unfortunately I don't know either. I expect they're fairly generic, Nothing exotic or super hots.
Hmm, chocolate rings a bell.
I know one of them was just Jalapeno which I expect will be the middle one.
Any help?
Label says 45k Scoville's.
Been through stages that look the same as 1 and 2.
The middle one looks jalapeño esqe.. and would be the type of thing you'd expect to see in a garden center as it's kind of a staple, and not too tricky to grow....But chilli's are hard to identify as there are so many varients and cross-breeds and hybrids.. a lot of 'groups' of them look very similar in shape.
Doubly so as they go through several colour phases during ripening, lol
I've just had another look at the ones in photo 1 and they are starting to turn green.
This is all new to me. I got 3 plants expecting to get about 7-8 chillies a plant. I think I'm going to end up with about 20-30 per plant the way things are going.
top one looks a lot like deathbastard
middle, pepticulsa
bottom: they're just slugs on the plant - burn immediately
Anyone got any ideas on how to ripen chillies?
I've got a plant with 30 or so green chillies that I would love to ripen up.
