Well that didn't take long!

As much as Sick Bicycles seem like a bunch of chancers who I wouldn't give a single penny, I don't see the point of just linking to a thread post from a different forum, especially when there's just been a long thread about them on here that was closed.

Would you link to other threads on other forums without any form of comment?

Yes, I presume he did. He's trying to warn people on bike forums that Sick are dodgy as hell, the context is in his link.

That there's been a long running thread on here that is now locked isn't really relevant. I've no issue with what he's doing, seems quite reasonable to me.

Judging from their posting history the op may never have used a forum before, or more likely isn't willing to post this from their normal user account because they're aware its out of order.

Yes, I presume he did. He’s trying to warn people on bike forums that Sick are dodgy as hell, the context is in his link.

Warning people is one thing, spamming out links with no context to propagate a limited number of horror stories (if only limited by virtue of the fact they've not actually [s] sold[/s] supplied many bikes) in order to make them seem more prevalent and hiding behind a new login to do so isn't warning people it's cowardly and a vendetta.

I expect so. Can't be too critical of him though. If I'd been forced to go through small claims to get 2K back for a non-existent frame while this bunch are still swanning around presumably taking yet more pre-order cash, then I'd consider it a public service to spread the word as widely as possible.

Mods should just sticky the latest warning thread and be done with it.

Don’t reckon this one will get 15 pages

But crap really as predictions for flounce or ban are low

Didn’t Evil once have a shitload of every single frame broke once upon a time but came out of it OK

So either (s)he's new to the forum and couldn't be bothered to check if there was a similar post, or (s)he's well aware that there has just been a long Sick-bashing thread. Either way, this adds nothing to the forum, especially as they didn't add any personal opinion or comment.

Yes, exactly. Struggling to see why anyone thinks this is a problem. You're free to ignore it, but it may mean someone who didn't see the massive thread is now aware that Sick are a bit rubbish.

Seems like a perfectly reasonable PSA to me.
It's well worth keeping folk aware who they may be dealing with if they stumble across Sick and decide to sign up to non-thing.

Odd, really. Bad words can be, and usually are, edited out of a thread without the need to shut down the conversation.

Okay, I'm clearly in a minority then.

I'm off to find some threads on other forums relating to closed topics on this forum, so that I can restart the same argument without having to add anything original myself.

About 18 posts in your case. I thought you might have stuck it out longer; maybe seen if you got some support. you just gave up too easily. You have to remember the forum isn't what it used to be, threads like this would have been 9 pages by now.

The original Sick Bikes thread was closed by the mods as it had descended into an exchange of insults. It's not been deleted and is there in the archive.

If you think it should be reopened then we can consider that on the grounds that it's not going to descend into further witchhuntery insults and general nastiness.

Oh, I'm sorry. Did you want me to keep repeating my point of view endlessly for a few pages and then throw a full blown hissy fit and leave the forum altogether? I thought it better to admit that it doesn't seem to bother anyone else and, given that I'm not really all that bothered about it, leave it at that (apart from a parting 'joke' to further illustrate why criticised the OP in the first place).

If you'd rather, I could aggressively defend my point of view ad nauseam. Perhaps I could even get a temporary ban, stir up a bunch of accusations of cyber bullying from all parties involved, and start a debate about the standards of forum moderation in the process.

the thread was originally about someones experience with them. The 'witchhuntery' (googling into the owners background) started because no one buying a frame/bike seemed to have had a good experience. If sick want to come and fight their corner/address any inaccuracies, or someone with a positive experience wants to add to it, they should be able to. Though the fact they did have one of their customer service guys posting early on, didn't seem to do them any favours/allay any fears.

They're sort of addressing the lack of trust in the brand on Insta by blaming suppliers, that they are a small growing company, for every unhappy customer there are heaps (their words) of happy ones, STW has always had it in for us/been giving us a month for the last 2 years, 'Just growing pains' etc.

From what I've seen over the last week or so on here and Pinkbike, if it was my hard-earned I'd be gunning for them. And using the very same medium that they use to promote themselves in the first place. I posted the linkedin thing on the other thread (surprised that no one else already had), make no apology for it and categorically refute the claim of 'witch hunt'.

Yeah, and as have others where co's have taken a kicking. Plus from what I've seen in the past, STW don't take too well to being asked to remove stuff, just because a brand doesn't like it. They have to stick to thier own rules tho

I still think there is merit in it staying open though. Even if the witchhunty stuff is deleted

that went over his head….

What really goes over their heads is that the recent negative threads about Sick only exist on STW & Pinkbike because they're not delivering frames bought & paid for months ago. If they'd actually delivered the frames people had ordered, its more likely we'd be getting new bike threads with Sick bike frames...might change folks mind on previous impressions of them & generate some sales. But hey, they're doing great...they dont need our sort buying from them 🙄

You jest but Seville is in Spain which is in Europe. Seville is where marmalade oranges come from so leaving the EU poses significant risks to the availability of marmalade in the UK and thusly jeopardises the supply of marmalade sandwiches, which everyone knows are a Peruvian's favourite food so could massively impact their desire to deal with the UK. Certainly no grizzly would be likely to travel here instead of remaining in Peru without access to such food stuffs.

wooahhh
Rewind that for me
Marmalade is going to rationed from March 29th ? Hth did get into this mess
Its like Deja Vue all over again , are there going to be marmalde ration books like in 1942 ?
Is there going to be a black market economey for breakfast preserves?
Do I need to liquidate some assets and go N-1 to buy in stocks of this dwindling natural resource like right now, this minute?
Holy crapola batman

I think you might be on to something there Poop.
Sick! could probably get a few more deposits for the new Invisiporn model they are due to launch this spring
Get an Insta Frenzy going on the lucky customer's bike being lovingly wrapped in bubble wrap , with placcy axles going in to protect the stays. The photos of the bubbled wrapped bike being boxed up , and collected by a smiling chap in a TNT polo shirt ( best not show the ones where he launches it into the back of his Ford Cargo.)
Than another photo of the super grateful customers bikebox being delivered by the same smiling TNT man. Then the new owner gets to unwrap his bike like all of his xmassses have come at once. High 5's all round and fist bumps bro.
Its a marketing man ( or womans ) wet dream come true .

15st? I think that date could have been a little undecided 😄

They just seem to be repeating the same mistakes. I mean I don't really care - it's their business and I wont be buying, but when you see how hard Cy @ Cotic, Dan Stanton, Sam @ Singular, Joe @ Starling, BTR and loads of others have worked to refine and generate confidence in their designs and really put themselves out there and bent over backwards to be open, apologise for mistakes, etc it's no wonder that we're a bit dumbfounded by Sick!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the old Taiwanese business model used to be save up enough for a batch of frames, generate a little hype on the way while they get built, then as soon as they are on a boat, start taking orders. As soon as you've got some firm orders and you see a pattern of which sizes/colours sell, then you place your second order which should arrive 2 months after the first frames hit the UK. If you flew over a couple of frames to check personally, then you can correct any mistakes/make improvements in time for ordering the second batch.
In the meantime you've got a load of 'New Bike Day' posts of people raving about your frame so that you can sell out the second batch as soon as it gets on the boat.

Then slowly work your way away from this model, into one where you hold stock and customers don't have to wait or gamble any more.

Then, when everyone is happy that you're a decent sort of company, eventually launch a new model 🙂
