Today for the first time, I opened a tin can with a Swiss Army Knife. (Satisfying)

Felt like Ray Mears.

This is going as expected 😆

I tried the wife's SUP in the sea the other day, managed to stand upright for about 5 seconds. I think I'll get a kayak...

I changed the bearings on my wife's Spark, my Oiz, my Evil, then my mate's Evil.

Really satisfying changing frame bearings.

Had my hair cut by somebody wearing PPE (gloves, mask, goggles & visor)

It was weird but limits the chit-chat ......I fear it could be the end of "something for the weekend Sir?"

😉

Caught an edible dormouse.
Edible dormouse

Once eaten as a delicacy by the Romans. Now a protected species in the Vaterland.

Caught him and his mate after taking apart a kitchen trying to find an electrical fault. Kitchen now rewired as half the cables were chewed up.

Ridden my bike.

Off-road.

¡In the mountains (well the Cairngorms NP at least)!

Stayed in a hotel for two full weeks.

Not through choice.
Isolation regime before joining the ship.
14 days of strict social distancing (CCTV monitored)
We had to stay in our room, or go for a walk around the carpark.
Collected crappy bag meals from restraunt, and eat alone in our rooms.
Was actually a relief to be flown to the ship to start 6 weeks of work.

Whoopee, I get home for 3.5 weeks and then go through it all again.

Fishing with the boy, he's wanted to go for years and I've never got round to it. But we love it as it goes 🙂

I just made a curry, from scratch.   A chicken Tikka massalla (everyone except me doesn't like spicy food.  It was alright - a bit watery which I blame on the tinned chopped tomatoes I used - I'll strain them next time.

Skydived from a hot air balloon. It was awesome. Certainly a lot safer than landing in the balloon.

Was going to be this morning, however seeing as my 1. & 2. firsts were not unrelated I opted to stay in my wife's good books and let the photographer down 😬

I'd have eaten the little git just for that! 😉

So good yet so bad...

Moved from thinking about getting a dog to actually getting on with getting a dog, I think I've wanted a dog since I was 8, I'm now 42, I've given it enough consideration.

It will be a rescue and possibly even a slightly older, calmer rescue.

It was alright – a bit watery

This is why cornflour exists.

Wild camped with the van!

It was alright – a bit watery

Use tinned plum tomatoes instead, and cut them up. Far less liquid.

Really wild on that road was it? 😛

Seconded re the whole rather than chopped tomatoes though, San Marzano preferably!

Even more so...in an empty remote car park

I’m off into the hills with the bivy bag for a couple of nights today...but I’ve done that a few times before 😜

I had a blind stoker on the back of my tandem for the first time. Older guy who used to ride lots before his sight faded. We'd never met before, but managed 20 minutes without crashing...

We're doing 60 miles to Hawes in the Dales at the beginning of September (and back the next day) so we're going to have to get some miles in! Already ordered the slick tyres...

Started baking cakes. So far have made 3 lemon drizzle cakes, loads of scones, banana bread and 2 pavlovas - all have been a complete success especially the pavlovas. Also made about a pint of homemade mayonnaise with the egg yokes from making the pavlova. Sadly the interest in baking and the eating of the results have been directly inverse to my exercise and fitness 🙁

Switched on my old Peavey Triumph 60 guitar amp. Incredibly loud in the early 90's. Still loud but the master volume seems very hissy. Hoping mice or other varmints haven't been abiding within during the amps slumber in the loft.

Got to the top of a road climb that hits a peak of ~33% without putting a foot down while on a ~16Kg hybrid, after I killed my ~8.5Kg road bike's freehub on Saturday morning.

If this topic is still open, I have another entry...

Cutaway from a spinning canopy at relatively low altitude. I'm not sure if it was exciting or not yet, but the main and reserve free bag were both found, so it could have been worse.

Photo of what I (briefly) saw
