Yesterday I was in shorts and flip flops with all the doors open.
I'm officially not happy.
I flipped yesterday. Was my first full day in jeans for months. It is coming…
Toughen up ya softie,October 1st is first day of long trousers #inthenorth 😀
I'm sure it'll wash out.
Long trousers are consigned to when I'm in training delivery in-person only. Shorts for at least 10-11 months of the year, so I reckon you guys have gone a tad early 😉
October 1st is first day of long trousers #inthenorth 😀
Also too early. By north I take it you mean Birmingham? 😁😂
In the office today so trousers otherwise keeping the dream alive at home in cut offs.
I did put the flip flops away yesterday though so it has started.
😆 😆
I've been in jeans for the past week - but only because I just got a new pair and they actually fit for once (my wife thinks it's hilarious and only taken 40 years) so I've been enjoying the novelty!
Still in shorts, at least until October. Disappointed if I'm forced into an earlier trouser.
Flip flops still to hand but only for spider splatting duties as they're due any day and I won't be allowed to catch and release. Mrs TM operates a zero tolerance policy and I'm more scared of her than them.
Hell no, still shorts here in the Midlands, can't see jeans coming out for at least another 2 or 3 weeks.
Flip-flops are on borrowed time mind you.
I put socks on yesterday. And not because I was putting on shoes!
Currently sat in shorts and a hoody, with slightly chilly feet.
Flip-flops are on borrowed time mind you.
get yourself a pair of fleece-lined Crocs 😉
No long trousers yet for me here down south, unless joggie bottoms count when lounging in evening.
Bloody cold on the commute home in shorts and t-shirt this afternoon though, bastard cold northerly wind.
Jumper on,jumper off, jumper on,jumper off...can we make tank tops trendy and end this madness?
I don't get the whole thing about preferring to wear shorts. Why? Jeans are very comfortable IMO.
Or are people just sad that the heatwave's over? Which does make sense
I don’t get the whole thing about preferring to wear shorts. Why?
When I put on proper shoes and jeans this morning it was like my body couldn't breathe.
ah, now 'proper shoes' is a different matter entirely! Weddings and funerals only, IMO. And job interviews.
I don’t get the whole thing about preferring to wear shorts. Why?
It's admitting that summer is over.... I hate the winter.
(I'm currently in shorts on the lounger on the balcony of our place by the beach.
Lovely and sunny .... Sheltered from the fairly brisk northerly that's blowing!)
I don’t get the whole thing about preferring to wear shorts. Why?
Simply what I find comfortable, like you with your jeans. I don't find jeans uncomfortable I just prefer shorts. Oh, and I don't miss the heatwave at all, as I don't do well in the hot 😓
Shorts this morning, long trousers this afternoon.
I've admitted defeat.
(Home working in a North facing room in Inverness.)
Shorts all year here around the house. Northerly breeze is making it feel a little fresher today but still sat here in shorts and a polo shirt
I don’t get the whole thing about preferring to wear shorts. Why?
post andropause. It's the STW demographic in medical form, symptoms include
Baldness or thinning of hairline.
Erectile dysfunction.
Hot flashes.
Depression.
Anxiety.
Mood swings.
Low energy.
Loss of muscle mass.
Shorts and t-shirt weather in the sunny East Midlands. Even got the fan on and windows open. 🙂
Being a sedentary desk worker (with low muscle mass due to a genetic condition and low-ish fat due to cycling) I'm freezing at anything below 19c. So jeans this week and resisting putting heating on 🥴
Because of drugs for above im a sweaty mess above 23c. Last week was one of two each year where comfort levels were acceptable. Count yourselves lucky! 😂
Legprisons
i am a shorts all the year kind of person. i do wear cords or relaxed chino things when i go out out.
not owned a pair of jeans since my teens.
was cooler on the bike this morning.
I don’t get the whole thing about preferring to wear shorts. Why? Jeans are very comfortable IMO.
There is no way a pair of jeans is more comfortable than the pair of baggy running shorts I'm currently wearing, no way in the world.
When the time comes I'm move to joggers for home based wear and the jeans will come on when I have to leave the house.
Shorts all year round here - long troos for weddings and funerals. I'm a postie so can wear them at work too 👍
Winter?
It's barely even autumn yet. Sat next to Ullswater in shorts and t-shirt, get a grip 🤣
Amateurs. Sun's still out, guns are still out.
Jumper on,jumper off, jumper on,jumper off…can we make tank tops trendy and end this madness?
I give you the Gilet. Its the ultimate transitional garment for modern times.
I don't leave home without one this time of year.
Longs more than not here. Went for a walk this weekend and with friends from the south up I caved and wore shorts. 17, yes seventeen, ticks needing plucking from my legs that evening.
Mind you, there is more than a nip in the air here this weekend. It was 14 degrees in both the bedroom and the living room when I got up this morning. I might have to consider the H word soon.
Long trousers don't come out until november
Bobble hat weather is September to may though 👌
I'm still wearing shorts but I have thick woollen socks that come up to my belly button
Skinny Jeans on for a week here in the NE.That northerly has little stopping it here.I,m overweight and 59 so skinny jeans really attract the ladies.
Jeans went on for the first time in months this morning. Now it's warmed up (a tropical 15 degrees outside, apparently) I'm back in shorts.
The clocks. When they do that thing with changing the time is when I'm allowed longs*. Sacrilege to cave mid September - it's still the middle of summer!
Somewhat perturbed here that my birkenstocks are overdue their annual service. Their tread is a long way off an MOT pass.
*I am in Devon though

Shorts and a hat?!?!?
What do you do in July? Canada Goose parka and balaclava on top, completely naked from the waist down?
fleece-lined Crocs
Birkenstock slippers FTW. I like 3/4 length pedal pushers all year round, but do go shorts too. I am, however in new skinny jeans today to walk the dog this evening. Down to 23C in the loft office today though.
THE milestone was the padded Barbour went on last night. Over a T shirt not something warmer, so still time.
I'm with Doris on this , I don't understand shorts and a bobble hat talk about mixed messages 😁
Hot legs, bald head...simples.
Long trousers and socks with the Birkenstocks here (no, I don’t care).
More worryingly is that the indoor thermostat is 2 degrees from turning the heating on.
the indoor thermostat is 2 degrees from turning the heating on.
You already know the answer to that one. "Slava Ukraine". (And it's a bit colder in here)
You've taken your time, I've been on double joggers for weeks.
Shorts and a hat?!?!?
You know science says most of your body heat is lost via the head right? A hat means shorts for longer
More worryingly is that the indoor thermostat is 2 degrees from turning the heating on.
Time to turn the thermostat off then 🤔😉
2 degrees from turning the heating on
Er... don't let the thermostat tell you it's not still September... get that bugger turned off... or in frost protection mode.
I live in jeans apart from actually hot days.
My better half keeps suggesting that I put on my lounge pants, which I believe are basically pyjamas.
And then a dressing gown.
This is for evenings at home, of course.
I much prefer denim and a hoodie, I find them far more comfortable.
I rode home in the pissing rain the other day and it was warmer than today!
can i just add, as a big fat bloke, i ****ing love winter.
rain mud sludge ice wind snow chillblains...........bring it on.
rain mud sludge ice wind snow
Best thing about winter is clarts. A rides not the same without them
Let's all go 'round to ton's for big hugs and warmth!
Shorts every day, even in deepest darkest winter. Shorts.
Toughen up ya softie,October 1st is first day of long trousers #inthenorth
Usually mid to late October in the Mystic East before legs are covered by cloth.
You know science says most of your body heat is lost via the head right? A hat means shorts for longer
Think that was an army study comparing people wearing warm clothes and no hat to people wearing warm clothes and a hat.
If you're togged up warm in a cold place but got your head uncovered, of course you're going to lose a lot of heat from the bit that's not covered.
Scientific answers don't teach you very much unless you know what the question was!
Another 6 weeks or so before I drag trousers out for anything other than work. I tend to go for long sleeves before trousers and yes, sometimes a titfer with shorts..
Shorts and hat here too, my male pattern baldness isn’t a good pattern so I’m shaved on top and it’s chilly in here.
I did do a trial run of the heating this morning as I’d spotted the boiler pressure was down near zero when I was sorting the recycling next to it. Rads all bled and a squirt of Fernox for when we do fire it up properly.
I reckon I’ll be wearing shorts & a T shirt every day for the month of October.
Seeing as me & Mrs Efg will be in Southern Spain.
😎😎😎😎
I will however, take a waterproof.
I too have just declared winter, I've put a quilt in it's cover for the first time since May!
Surprisingly, the grass needs cutting this weekend.

100% this. It's nothing but relative to covered parts of the body.
It is a little chilly, my nice glass of Kangaroo Merlot is now actually chilled as I'm outside basking in the warmth of my fire pit (do not fret it's 100% environmentaly friendly, I'm burning recycled mountain bike trail, rotten boardwalk).
Still wearing shorts at work on the east coast of Yorkshire and I work outside , bit chilly today and blowing a gale , some good white tops out at sea .... still not cold enough for trousers as yet 🙂
October 1st is first day of long trousers #inthenorth 😀
Also too early. By north I take it you mean Birmingham?
Well, Brum’s about eighty miles north of where I am, so yeah. Got shorts on, will keep wearing shorts as far into October as possible, and as I got sunburned on holiday in South Devon a few years back during the first week of October, I think I’m well justified.
I wore a hoodie over my tee shirt to the pub tonight, with a quilted US Army parka liner over that, and a thin wool beenie, and was perfectly comfy.
Shorts and a hat?!?!?
Yeah, I’ve got no hair to speak of, with a cool wind a thin beenie makes a big difference. I don’t expect people who have hair to understand.
I see people wearing hoodies with the hoods up, and puffa-style jackets in mid-summer - now that’s bloody weird!
Shorts on Bleaklow yesterday. Today will be Jeans in Macclesfield.
Skinny Jeans on for a week here in the NE.That northerly has little stopping it here.I,m overweight and 59 so skinny jeans really attract the ladies.
You need Geordie Jeans 🙂
What’s the fascination with wearing shorts all the time?
What’s it supposed to be a sign of?
Geordie jeans and a winter T-shirt
What’s the fascination with wearing shorts all the time?
Happiness and contentment?
What’s it supposed to be a sign of?
Comfortable attire. YMMV
Also too early. By north I take it you mean Birmingham? 😁😂
The north here starts at Crawley
a winter T-shirt
So, just a t-shirt then? 😉
My favourite time of year

I only need to wear shorts if it is hitting 25+ outside. Other than that it is long trousers. Just like I don't walk around in a T shirt when it is 10 degrees outside.
I don't suffer from having hot legs so not really sure why shorts are necessary unless it is very hot where minimal clothing and a bit of air flow makes sense.
can i just add, as a big fat bloke, i **** love winter.
rain mud sludge ice wind snow chillblains………..bring it on.
AS a relatively skinny (if you ignore the tumtum), I also love winter. I basically don't ride my bike in over 18degrees because i feel like death. give me snow and rain any day!
