I wasn’t expecting that.

S’pose when you run out of ideas for a film, you pick a topic and characters that many remember and ruin all those memories..

Seems pointless.

And should go into Flashy’s thread on ruining remakes..

Still way less creepy than the British rip off version.

The Animal Kwackers.

Only Noseybonk was more disturbing....

....and Pipkins. It was pretty grim too.

Meanwhile in a studio in downtown LA, a pitch begins: ”we want to re-imagine the Monkees - it’s like the Beatles do American Psycho. Quirky musicians with dark hearts but a great back-catalog...”

They’re back

A bit like the Poltergeist?

Edit: Actually, that was "They're here" wasn't it.

you pick a topic and characters that many remember and ruin all those memories..

there was never anything great to remember about the Banana Splits though - a catchy theme tune plus running around and falling over - it was just some nonsense live-action goofing as a way of linking together a disparate bunch of cartoons that were pilots for series that had failed to be commissioned. Warmed up leftovers 🙂 Not that we cared about any of that when we were kids.

I'm more concerned about the live action remake of Mr Benn where the only outfits in the shop are Gimp Suits

In my recollection, the soundtrack for Banana Splits was always so poor I couldn’t hear the jokes. The studio audience Laughter track thought they were hillarious.
And Animal Kwackers - Good God, a bit of my childhood died when I first saw them.

a handful of guys I knew had various nicknames in line with the Banana Splits. Took me ages to find out what Snorky's real name was (Paul, I think).

You had a video from way back with Banana Splits theme as background IIRC @Drac - Glentress or similar?

Me and my brother loved it. The one that stuck his head out the clock, spun round and said "Uh Oh jungo it's Danger Island next!" I mean, you don't remember crap from 40odd years ago, but I remember loads about that. Arabian Nights.. Three Muskateers...
And the classic theme song.

OMG. I can't quite work out whether that's going to be greatest best film ever made or a complete train wreck.

And Animal Kwackers – Good God, a bit of my childhood died when I first saw them.

I saw them live many, many years ago, probably the first "live music" I ever saw as a small child. I think I've got a signed double LP somewhere still.

Bigger question is who would voice the Chorlton characters as Joe Lynch (who voiced all the characters) is as dead as Kenneth Williams.

Chorlton was weird enough without the Burton treatment...

On the other hand, bring on an R rated The Trap Door!

I hear Charlie Brooker is working on a mockumentary of Jim'll Fix It.

And looking forward to Guillermo Del Toro's take on The Clangers.

Its just alienated its original audience.

I was it’s original audience; am I alienated? Nope. Please, don’t make assumptions based on your own personal view when it’s something like this.
I love the idea of an Amphicat equipped with a minigun and a bunch of homicidal furries on board!

I saw the SYFY at the start and wondered where I had see it before.... ah Happy!.  Guess that should really have been the clue, along with the R rating.

Its the internet, I shall make any assumption I like.

Dont like it? Don’t read it.

Its my opinion, and I think that it will alienate its original audience, you may watch it I suspect plenty won’t.

HTHs.

In two minds whether this would be worth bringing back. I don't think there are enough drugs in TV/film world to do it justice now.

I think either of them would struggle to top Buxton the Blue Cat
