When building stuff there is always a compromise between spending a fortune on over engineering something and scrimping on build quality and risking structural failure.
I have just looked out the window and noticed a large branch has dropped about 40 feet or so onto the cabin roof. The top half of the cabin walls are all glass panels with a few wooden uprights to support the roof.
When the wind and rain stop for a minute I might go outside and see how good my strength calculations were.

....if your wife lets you.
🙂
Just glad I hadn't started the kids castle shed as the branch has landed right on top of where that would have been.
I quick sprint through the rain to the cabin has confirmed it is still standing and sound with no broken windows thankfully.
The Magnolia may be collateral damage. A closer and dryer inspection will confirm.
Check for squirrels with chain saws.
Funny enough, I haven't seen so many squirrels recently. Possibly the hot weather doesn't suit them...

When I build a cabin, it stays built.
Branch about 25 feet long and as thick as your thigh drops from 40 feet without any damage done. Result!

Skinny thighs on you...
Looks like a glancing blow from a stick with some leaves on rather than a full branch drop. More testing needed!
Added wife for scale.

The end on the roof was thicker than her thigh but of course she doesn't have fat legs 🙂
Cheers hols2 people being killed in a tragic blast always makes me chuckle.
Added wife for scale.
Surprised she allowed you to take that photo.
So what are you going to make out of the branch? Someone with your talents shouldn't waste such a gift from the squirrel gods!
It was probably her quick thinking reaching up and grabbing the branch that stopped it damaging the shed.
Well done Mrs wca.👍
