I know this is taboo as the derailleur hanger is DESIGNED to fail before the frame, but the hanger on my Kinesis CX bike is just TOO bendy.
I think this is exacerbated by the big long GRX mech dangling off the back but it's a necessary evil until I go back to 2x or just start running a smaller cassette.
I can't imagine there is much of an aftermarket for derailleur hangers these days, too many styles?
I remembered a bit of kit that was held in place by the QR and plugged in to the derailleur allen key hole, do these still exist?
I'm on my second hanger now and have had to adjust it two or three times, pretty much expect it to snap next time I need to adjust...
I would start by looking for why you are getting problems, frame alignment maybe?
Well I know at least twice it has been because of the bike toppling over on its side 🙄
Just bad luck perhaps but I don't think I've dropped this one on its side any more often than other bikes and yet this is the first time I've had this many issues with alignment. I just though the long cage mech might have been the issue, more vulnerable/more leverage?
The 29er also has a long cage mech but I don't have the same issues, maybe the bigger tyres etc. keep mech further from ground.
I think what your describing is a rear mech protector/guard. Although not seen them on anything other the BSO's
I have to be careful with my 29er (on-one big dog). The hanger arrived bent, and bends at the slightest provocation.
I think I'd prefer one that was stiffer and just snapped rather than being in the middle of nowhere wondering why my gears are playing up...
Your post reads like you think it’s the derailleur length causing the hanger to bend, so if you’re thinking about “lowering” the derailleur in the same way you can to use a larger cassette then it’s one of these
Maybe make a reinforcing plate out of 1.5-2mm steel or stainless steel (drill, hacksaw, file). Covering the green scribbled bit below.
Clamp it on using the mech and qr.
It still leaves a weak bit to bend in a big crash.
The GRX mech has a fairly weak aluminium attachment plate anyway (my lad has bent an xt one rather than the breakaway aluminium bolt on his mtb).

If it's a standard design, you might be able to find another the same that's stronger- frinstance I had an old On One that had a hanger made of monkey metal, but it was almost identical to an old carrera one that I had so just swapping with another interchangable part actually made it much stronger.
Most hangers are recycled from older frames, see if your LBS has a selection.
Wheels mfg
North Shore Billet
And others make them aftermarket for most frames.
You could try a BETD hanger? If they do one for your bike.
I used gearmechhanger.com to source an old sunn hanger a few years ago, quality CNC pilo ones as well as original cheaper cast jobs.
It sounds like you want a North Shore Billet Hanger Banger. Amazingly some places are still selling them-

Thought is said sniffing derailleur hangers.
Is disappoint.
I have nothing to contribute.
Thanks folks.
Have checked out Pilo, NSB and BETD but none have anything that matches, I guess it is Kinesis specific.
The Hanger Banger was what I was looking for! I don't believe I'm hitting stuff hard enough (or at all...) to somehow break the frame as well so I could be tempted. Or I just buy yet another hanger and try extra hard not to drop bike on its side posing it for photos...

Eventually you'll lay it down on the other side, eventually.
As my dad would say "spend all that money on a bike and it doesn't come with a stand?!"
Not dropping the bike on the derailleur is easier than this:

I always lay the bike down or lean it against trees or benches on the non drive side. Its not through having bent a mech, but I have the paranoia. The wife always seems to lay/lean the drive side down. Cue me going and turning it over/around.
