Apparently SRAM made it substantially harder to adjust the clutch on Type 2.1 derailleurs by putting a pin through the cap.
I have read conflicting accounts as to how to remove the pin to allow adjustment without destroying the clutch housing. It is protruding very little, so I can't pull it with pliers and I couldn't push it through the cap.
Any ideas? It's a newish XX1, but the clutch feels much, much, much softer than on my very used and bused Zee.

I didn't think that the clutch mechanism on SRAM rear mechs is adjustable like the Shimano ones. It is simply just set as is.
You totally can. The cap actually accepts Torx T55 key and turning it tightens/frees the clutch on Type 2. On type 2.1 that pin prevents it from turning, unless removed first.
Well the previous Type 2 was adjustable
and serviceable

but note the disclaimer that 2.1 is no longer serviceable or adjustable with that method.
