eBay keeps throwing up this page showing in stock shimano parts from China. Obvs there will be a wait (although stuff normally comes quicker than their estimates) and warranty claims would probably not be easy, but my main concern is the chance it would be fake. Has anyone used them? Would you be protected by eBay if items turned out to be fake?
I bought some 8 speed shimano shifter pods that I'm not convinced are genuine. I mean, they work, but even Tourney isn't that bad when new. I'm not sure how you'd get on, ebay normally treat buyers better but a Chinese scammer might just vaporise their account and you're stuffed.
Following this up, I went ahead and bought some deore brakes, as the page had nearly 1000 positive feedback reviews and figured eBay would help out if they were fake. Arrived today after ordering around 2 weeks ago, and if they're fake then they're very good fakes. I'll fit them tomorrow and see how they are on the bike, but an option to others wanting parts now. As far as customs are aware there was only 1 rotor inside the box they sent me though so maybe a gamble there?
I've had a few things from them, a few sets of brakes included. Always arrive before estimate, seem to be genuine and I've never had reason to complain. They do send multiple orders individually which can be a bit of a pest but this probably helps avoid any surcharges?
Full 12 speed shimano drivetrain sitting in my workshop 3 weeks after ordering in May. The shops can;t even get it 🙂
It's all proper gear
Link ?. save some manual legwork 🙂
I should add that after rereading my comment I didn't clarify that my purchases weren't from this particular retailer. Also, 1000km on my shifters are still working, fake or otherwise!
I've had 2x sets of SLX 11spd groupsets.
Seems good to me. Was a bit sceptical at first.
I've had a set of SLX brakes off them in the last month or so. All genuine and marked as a hose to avoid big customs charges on import as well. Can't complain.
