Yes. This one - but it’s out of stock at Merlin.

If you can find it, cheap and reasonably good IMHO.
So, people have had their Tempests for a while now. How are you getting on with them? They do look good.
Very tempted but I just can't seem to get the geometry to work for me. At present I ride steel Graventurex bike with a 71 degree head angle, 380 reach and a 620 stack. Even then I have about 60mm of spacers on the steel steerer to get the bars up and it's very comfy for me. Just can't help thinking the front end will be way too low for me on these.
The front end is way too low for everyone, the headtubes are tiny.
I don’t have much to compare it against, but I don’t find the front of mine particularly low. I ditched the high rise stem it came with and replaced it with a 90mm/5 degree one from spares.
I rode mine five days consecutively last year for 5-7 hours a day. I was a bit sore in the shoulders at the end but I’ve never ridden a drop bar bike that far for one day before that!
Not sure the head tube looks that short..
That’s a large. I’m 5ft11 in old money but with quite short legs so I wanted the longer reach.
Was after one of these but they now appear to be £2K 🙁 also PX don't do C2W. I don't suppose anyone can recommend soomething similar from a place that does? I was looking at Whyte Wessex One but thinking I might prefer titanium over carbon, just seems like it might last longer.
The Force version is £2k, there's no rival on the website at the moment but I got one over lockdown and it was something like £1600 srp, but they were doing 10% off.
Doesn't solve the c2w issue of course...
Keep watching. We just got the Hurricane (road equivalent of Tempest) with full 2x11 R8000 and about £100 of options for £1850ish.
The cheap deals will come again.
Aaaaaarghhh! Old thread!
I got so excited when I saw the title, as prices have jumped so much recently.
2000 miles on my Rival 1 and to be honest it's probably the best £1300 I've spent on a bike. Commute, road, gravel, it just gets on with it. Nothing broken (even the gpx bottom bracket is still good). I had a L for my 5'11" and it fits like a glove. My only regret is that I should have stumped up the extra for the Force 1 version but there you go.
Through complete luck/coincidence, a Tempest Rival 1x came up near me for sale, mint condition. Just picked it up today for £1200 thus bypassing the complexity of C2W. Awesome bike. I think I will switch the vittoria tyres for something a bit lighter but otherwise very happy.
Been having a look at the Tempest recently and looks like a hell of a bike. Looking back through this thread is painful as the price seems to have hiked up a lot over the last year or so while the spec has dropped - even since this review 4months ago its gone up £160 whilst losing the carbon seat post and with lower spec wheels - https://m.facebook.com/planetxbikes/posts/planet-x-tempest-bike-review-just-out-in-cycling-plus-it-is-our-flagship-bike-we/3249091878440647/
For shimano 2x groupset it's now within spitting distance of the Sonder Camino/Colibri so all seem worth considering... does anyone have experience with both the PX and Sonder ones and have thoughts about the relative merits? Had a quick look at the Camino in the Alpkit and it was a beauty, but I've not seen the PX in the flesh or had the chance to ride either.
I'd be using it much more for road and touring than proper gravel but Guy Kesteven convinced me the versatility of the Tempest would make it a better option than the Hurricane. Really informative and entertaining review if anyone's not seen it -
Cheers for your thoughts!
Can’t speak for the Sonders, but I have a Tempest and my wife has the Hurricane.
Unless you want big tyres (40mm plus) the Hurricane does fine. It’s running 28mm slicks at present and there’s a set of the 32mm Victoria Revolution for the winter. They fit fine.
The Hurricane is a slightly better looking bike, still does the rack & guards, bit lighter.
Difficult call really, but if I was buying today it might be the Hurricane not the Tempest. Check the gearing though - I think it’s different.
