Presumably a shop somewhere has gone phut and their stock is at an industrial auctioneers (photos are in the shop but the stock will now be at the auctioneer's premises in Hillington)

https://www.sweeneykincaid.com/Auctions/SaleDetail/4097

there's usually a date to go and view the march in person (not much point as its all new stock) bidding is online, collect in person.

Not this auctioneer's usual stuff so potential maybe for some bargains but note that:

If your opening an account / bidding for the first time you have to lodge some funds with them to be able to bid (refundable is you dont bid/win/ buy anything

Theres a commission and vat on top of pay your bid price so factor that in when bidding

Unlike ebay last minute bids extend the closing time by 10 minutes so there's no merit in a last minute snipe - so bid a sensible amount more than 10 minutes before the deadline, if nobody else bids after that the action closes for that item. But any subsequent bids each add 10 minutes and keep doing so til no-one bids. During this time people are bidding on a dwindling number of items so better to get the thing you like off the menu early.

@a11y, would that be the racks of tools by any chance? I stopped scrolling, saw the price of the first bid, kept on scrolling in fear of my marriage 🙂

Bummer that this is all the way oop north otherwise I would take a serious look. Bet there will be some bargains to be had. Good luck to any of the Scots on here, I hope you find a bargain.

Do remember that auctions include +15/20% buyers premium and usually require pick up.... I had an old colleague who bought a 'bargain' piece of machinery for our old work from Sweeney Kincaid, but the extra cost and hassle quickly mounted.

@matt_outandabout, it was the collection bit that had me very quickly bow out. A bargain £15 Maxxis tyre isn't such a bargain after a 800 mile round trip

Indeed - and pick up is office hours, at a fixed time etc. I remember it being a bit of a faff....

A few interesting bits! The electric cargo bike is pretty cool. Do I need a Muc-off parts washer?! 😃

How do Kali helmets size up for the larger heads?

Same shape as Giro/Bell/661?

Anyone in Glasgow planning to bid and collect, and would be happy to hold any bits I win, and I can collect one eve (I live in Edinburgh)?

Thanks.

(I emailed them to ask if they can put items in a box and then I would arrange a courier to collect, but they won't do that)

I didn't even know a powered lift repair stand existed until now, or that I must have one..

Could be wrong but that looks a lot like the stock from Powerbikes in Dumfries 🤔

I've had dealings with Sweeney Kincaid in the past...

Wouldn't hurry back... hammer price plus VAT plus commission plus more VAT soon takes the shine off...

Plus they tend to be awkward buggers about collection 🙄

Lot 694 would confirm it by the look of things 🤔

Its not exactly a secret. Vat's compulsory it's a choice for them or you, a commission is obvious  -  Its only a problem if you bid too much.

Collection is a stickier issue when the auction is on the business's (former) premises because they have to staff the premises while / until all the stuff has been collected and landlord is presumably keen to get their building back - so that creates a bit of a time pressure

In this case all the stock appears to be at their own warehouse so things are a touch more flexible - I've generally found them to be pretty accommodating when thats the case but they're not going to run errands for you (well they did for me once but I came down with covid between the auction and the collection day) or pack things for dispatch.

so if I bid and won an £10 item I would pay £10 +15% +20% so it would be £13.80 in total?

Same question but would be happy to hand to a courier (I would arrange collection).

TIA

Someone could make a killing on e-bay with various of the multiple lots. All the RSP and Crudguard mudguards, bikelocks and MucOff bundles would be my pick.

Yes, but depending on how they invoice it might look like

Sale price + VAT

Auction fee + VAT

Because the proceeds from the sale will be going into a different pot for the administrator/liquidator/owner.
