Sad news from Kev.

A blow to him and the sport in general.  Kevs been a fundamental part of grass roots racing and supporting young talent. And getting fat gits like me out.

That's a shame. I've taken part in and mostly enjoyed quite a few PMBA races over the years but I've not done one since Kirroughtree in '19. I think I just got out of the habit of "racing" (I'm not very fast!) during the COVID lockdowns.

Oh no that's not good.

Abigale cut her teeth in Enduro competing on a regular basis as a teenager from 2015. At that time there was quite a lot of young talent pushing each other on and it was the step they needed to compete in the EWS.

They never forgot the grass roots and it was good that they gave back to it when ever they could

It's going to be hard to replace it, if ever it an be.

Thanks Kev and the volunteers for all you've given to the sport over the years

Sad news indeed, thanks Kev, I enjoyed your events, I just grew older and realised I prefered just riding over racing (badly).

Hope you find a way of carrying on with your Vanlife and riding bikes 🙂

What a shame, if he had a couple of quid from every rider using those trails outside of the races he might have stood a chance. Maybe a gofundme style honesty box would be a way to go?

I'm saddened by this, loads of happy memories of chaperoning, spectating and marshalling in snow, mud, sun and midges from havoc to kirroughtree and points in between. Always entertaining. Pmba was the way for kids (and adults!) in the north of England to get race experience and get on the ladder. Thanks Kev, and all who helped.

Sad news indeed. I hope Kev finds a new path and will hopefully be proud of all he's done for biking and bikers. Thanks, Kev.

Echo the above - I've done a fair few PMBAs at Gisburn, Grizedale and that massive one they did for a few years that covered Havok, Lee Quarry and Facit (that was ace!) but I've just grown out of racing really... Thanks for the good times Kev & the team at PMBA.

Same here, I am not a racer, nor technically gifted, but I have always enjoyed having a PMBA race in the diary to keep me motivated for riding over winter. I've always enjoyed the events, Kirroughtree this year might have been the exception, that was a slog!

I can say I crashed down Llangollen in a race as well. I'm pretty quick at finding my bike and getting going again.  I've met some really great people at the events and marshalled Gisburn last year when recovering from an op.

Gisburn is genuinely one of my favourite places to ride thanks to the work Kev has put into it.

Sad to see it go, I look forward to seeing what Kev does next.

This is so sad. I really enjoyed marshalling these while the lad raced. They were such a good vibe fun event and Kev is an absolute legend. Massively unsung hero. Hope a new venture is in the works.

Not sure what the answer is but less races can’t be a good thing.

Its a shame kev is one of the good ones

It's quite likely boltby ard rock ard moors etc has taken numbers away from pmba given that the cost of living means most people can probably only afford one even a year

Revenue vs costs just weren't adding up and Kev just couldn't make a living out of it anymore (not that he was living the high life when the books were balancing. FE putting up costs at places like Gisburn were the final nail in the coffin. On the flip side means we might get Kev back trail building.
