After not riding for around 8 years (apart from the occasional commute) I have bought a PX Tempest. I am 5'9 and a bit (and average proportions) so according to the size guide on their website I am OK for a large. Last PX bike I bought was a carbon roadie in medium and I always found it a little cramped.
However, after reading all the threads on here that I can find, it seems that people my kind of size have opted for the medium.
Does anyone about 5'9 ride a large? Should I contact PX and ask them to put the order on hold until mediums come back in stock? What should I have for tea tonight?
If it helps, I'm about 5'10 and have a Medium, but think I would have been happier with a Large. I tend to mostly use it as a winter road bike and if I am off-road it is mostly fire road ride so I'm not really throwing it around.
Thanks, that does help...
I am exactly the same height as you. I ride a Medium and it's bob on.
5'8 and medium with 70mm stem. I think a lot will depend if you want gravel/off road upright position, or head down roady position.
I reckon a large will be right, based on my pal of 6' on an XL.
Steady Eddie, I've had a Dolan GTX and the frame geometry looks very similar to the Dolan. I'm 5'11 with standard 32in legs and I just had to return a 56cm (large) bike and get a 54cm (Medium) instead. The standover height was waay to high on the 56cm (no plum clearance at all). Of course, could be totally different frames but it was an expensive mistake for me to put right.
Edit, ignore that. I see Planet X large is 53cm seat tube. (kind of nuts that their large is smaller than Dolans medium)
Watching this thread with interest.
I am also 5ft 10" and cannot decide which size to order.
Thanks all
This video helped me
Either way, just had an email from PX saying bike coming in June...first time out there for ages and I'm getting excited. Have to dig out my old gear, just not sure I'm going to fit into the lycra...
