Some very interesting features - mainly the low stack height and ability to shim it down to a specific length travel.

Hard to be certain without a video, but it looks like you could buy a 170mm, find it goes slightly beyond your comfortable riding position and then shim it down to e.g. 165mm

https://int.oneupcomponents.com/collections/dropper-posts

Shame it's internal-only as it would be perfect for my CX/adventure bike (apart from the weight).

They've been praising 9point8 droppers in the past, but I don't know whether this is a collaboration or not.

Looks interesting, and reasonably priced.. tempting but no mention of service intervals or serviceability so would be a bit of a punt...

Got the email, it looks very interesting and competitively priced. Low stack and the ability to tune the drop by anywhere from 0 to 50 mm using a shim is a good idea. If I was in the market for a dropper it would be on the list. I e always found them good for spares backup too

The build quality of the multi-tool in their EDC is absolutely superb, so I'm hopeful for this.

Although droppers seem to be one of the trickiest things to get right - even long term mag reviews don't really give the full picture.

Saying that - I'm reasonably light on kit.

170 is a win for many i would expect. the lever looks 'very' similar to e thirteen's.

Oooh. I've been easily avoiding wanting to upgrade to a longer dropper as they've seemed expensive or unreliable, but I'm a big fan of OneUp's products.

Don't see my Transfer going anywhere until it's been out and about a while though.

I have just ordered a 31.6 x 170mm, running a shimmed 30.9 post on my frame at the moment which I was not overly happy about, at £180ish I thought it was worth a try, like others have said, the Oneup stuff tends to be pretty well thought out and the quality of parts I have had from them has always been good.

That's interesting - looks like potentially stiff competition for the Bikeyoke Revive, which was the go-to for bikes with less room for a long dropper body - the dimensions appear to be as good or even better, plus you can adjust it down by 5mm if you get your sums wrong and still get more travel.

Really looks well thought out, most of the other new droppers lately have seemed pretty pointless but the extra features are actually useful here. And Oneup don't usually seem to muck about

Just worth noting the headline price is sans lever ($49 extra for lever).

Interested to see how the reviews go.

Could be a great option if the reliability holds up. Really like the shim option to maximise drop.

I’ve been really impressed with oneup stuff upto now, so ordered one on the strength of that, has some features that look good, my 150 transfer only just fits in the frame without bottoming out, with quite a bit stuck out so a 170 with a lower insert depth should work for me.

price seems reasonable too, and the GFs reverb has just died so she can inherit the transfer, so it’s all win (provided it actually works well)

I think that is it really, droppers are in a different ball park to multi tools, my general rules is don't buy the first go wait for the eager Beta testers to set up, and they have 🙂

Not sure i’ve ever seen a meaningful dropper review (other than Pinkbike slaughtering the old Crank Bros). They all go up and down nicely, it’s the longer term feedback that’s the important bit

Pickbike has some longer term reviews kicking around, useful for those who don't want the first batch of something, first look reviews are the same for nearly all products and let you know what box fresh feels like.

The STW bike ones where they get the test bike 4th or 5th out of the UK media are fairly decent in terms of riding something that's had a bit of a life.

At about twice the price you can have a spacer adjustable 9point8 post which is home serviceable. Mmmmm

Internals are a fully sealed, replaceable cartridge ($80) by the sounds of it and it comes with a 2 year warranty.

Should've ordered one yesterday when I got the email.. out of stock in the size and lever I want now.

Wrecker - they are (were) available on the OneUp website, dispatched from a UK warehouse.. also available from Ubyk.

Ive taken a punt on one.

I was planning on going with a Brand X XL and changing out the remote.

This option was very similar cost wise and the One Up stuff I have is very nice plus the same 2 year warranty.

Fingers crossed!

A dropper is an item I really don't want to be one of the first to buy. Lol

Good luck to all that have pulled the trigger though. No pun intended!

I've taken a punt as well, fromt eh measurements vs my Vyron I should be able to fit a 170mm drop in the space of my current 150mm!

Still listed as in stock on UBYK for the 170,,x31.6,, (I don't need it urgently so not worried if have to wait). Even better though is the STW P discount so it was a cool £166 including remote!

Will any cable remote work or does it have a specific pull requirement?

Dunno, remotes seem pretty interchangeable to me (given the number of aftermarket options). Isn't any indexing at the post end normally?

I've taken a chance - £135 for a 170mm dropper I can adjust if necessary seems a good deal 🙂

When you look on Ubyk and see the price of all the other posts, they look ridiculous! Why would anyone buy something for twice as much, or more? Just for a fancy coloured stanchion?

Did you have to ring em to get the STW P discount, nixie?

The blurb mentions using any cable remote (or using theirs for other droppers)

Needs to clamp the cable at the lever end. I think the norm for most brands is to clamp at the dropper base and the cable base to sit in the lever. I think the wolftooth and CrankBros remotes both clamp at the lever, not sure on other brands.

£133! Christ I might have a look myself!

Interestingly, thought the top bushing looked like a Brand X or PNW one. Just made a shim from the image on the site, and it fits either of the above 2 posts perfectly. Means my Brand X 150 dropper is now 142 which is what I needed, but longer term will be getting one of the One Up ones when the 170 34.9 is back in stock 👍

No nothing yet, which is somewhat annoying as I should have everything else for a new build by the middle of the week. If they weren't really in stock they could at least have informed those who ordered them that there would be a delay. I see they are now showing 18th of May as the date for orders, although it was "in stock" when I ordered. I guess I now need to work out how to cancel the order and look at alternatives.

I'm hoping they pull their finger out and indicate one way or the other. I've no problem ordering something that is not in stock but hate it when the companies comms are dire (Tredz are really good for this sort of thing, rapid emails telling you the item needs ordering and realistic time frames for when you will get it along we updates along the way).

As I said above I had zero expectation they actually had stock, but given its 3 working days now since order there should have been some kind of status update. Fortunately I'm not in any particular hurry.

Sounds like the same experience I had with UBYK when I ordered my brand x post from them, it took them over a month to get it in stock and send it, despite the fact it said it was in stock when I ordered.

If it makes you feel any better I haven't had a dispatch notice, and I ordered directly from OneUp

probably takes a bit of time for the new stock to filter through the system, im prepared to wait a bit longer before chasing.

Mine just arrived direct from one up -they didn't have the lever i wanted in stock (still running 2x) so i will reuse a lever from one of my old posts , looks like a solid bit of kit, and i get an extra 2 cm of drop compared to my old 150mm post 😎

No Cable housing or gear cable included - I assume you get that if you order the lever ?

My lever arrived direct from OneUp a couple of days ago, includes outer and inner cables. Nice design and no probs installing (other than the internal cable routing).

Just to fit it now.

Great. If you early-adopters can get on with fitting these and report back on all the problems, I should be able to cancel my order before UKBYK even get round to shipping it 🙂

Mine arrived yesterday but it's just to long to run at 150mm on my frame so it's going back and I'm sticking with my 125mm reverb. So if anyone needs a 31.6 x 150 with standard handlebar clamp give us a shout before I send it back.

so why don't you buy the shim when they are back in stock - to make that adjustment if its only just too long....

https://int.oneupcomponents.com/collections/dropper-posts/products/dropper-post-shim

Roverpig i'll fit mine tonight - but who knows how long it will take for problems to present - I've had problems with almost every dropper I've owned - KSLev, kronolog, highline, reverb, giant contact switch sl , only post I've not had a problem with is my old faithful gravity dropper post on my winter bike. Its a shame GD see to have stopped developing and refining their posts

Isnt the whole idea you reduce it with a shim?

^^This. Or make a shim (like I did last week for my Brand X which seemingly shares the internals). The dimensions of the shim are 52mm high, 48mm wide so if you print off a scale picture of the shim you can make one. I used a bit of plastic from the lid of a Chinese carton and it works perfectly.

By the time I've put a shim in it it there wouldn't be enough difference to warrant changing posts. I'm happy with the reverb and it's working fine but I was hoping to get more travel. I would shim it if mine was broke but for the sake of 10-15mm I'll just wait till my reverb needs replacing.

You purchased the post for the sake of 25mm, surely 10-15mm is still an improvement? If you can make the shim from a takeaway lid as suggested, this sounds less hassle then sending it back!

Thanks. I was just kidding of course. As you say, reliability is the main thing as they all work fine when they work. Just wish Ukbyk would get their act together and at least update people who have placed an order with the expected delivery date.

Right got bored by the lack of update from Ubyk so have asked them to cancel my order.

Post is also now on Evans site with a closer expected delivery date. Their description is not clear if remote is included but live chat thought it was. Price is very good if it includes the remote. Not so good if its without. Taken a punt on a post+remote arriving as their new BC discount can be stacked with discounted gift cards I can buy and the sum cost would be the same even if I have to buy a remote separately.

Reply from Ubyk following a chase:

This is a brand new item and Oneup haven’t yet made their first shipment. It is due in the next 2 weeks, and as soon as it arrives we will be able to get your order processed and shipped.

Yeah they have a delivery date listed on the site now. When I ordered they didn't. Its the lack of communication of the fact it wasn't due for a while which is frustrating. I'm happy to wait for things if an expectation is set. Chasing should not be required.

I took a punt on one, as my 2.5 year old KS Lev Integra was not playing ball much any more, getting stuck at points, it was a right pain when racing the last 2 weekends. The stanchion had some key way scoring so it wasn't really viable to repair in terms of cost.

Anyway, post was delivered this week but I've only just got round to fitting it. Decided to buy the lever too, as the KS one was junk and my cheap Bontrager one was a really awkward shape so didn't fancy re-using that either.

Fitting was quick and easy, however the lever was a PITA, it's every so slightly oversize, so unless I cranked it crazy tight it would slip. I ran a strip of tape under it and it's fine now. In terms of feel, it's lovely. Much better than any other dropper lever I have tried. Looking forward to the extra 20mm drop now too.

Lets see if it lasts 🙂

Been out on the bike with the one up dropper post 5 times now covering around 100 miles mainly around the surrey hills, with a lot of up and down seat post action, and its been performing great, no creeping backup, no sagging down , post action is not too fast going back and theres a positive clunk when it tops out, seat clamp is working great - no creaking or movement of saddle rails, I'm using a highline lever which works well- I dont think the CB highline will be going back on my bike unless the oneup breaks (bought the oneup while my highline was off for warranty after losing 15mm of travel)

Fitted mine last night. Cable routing in my Specialized Enduro was a nightmare but that's not the fault of the post.

The OneUp is very hard to push, and despite putting 280psi in the post it doesn't come back up very quickly.

The cable got a bent during the install process so I might replace that, just in case that causes the stiffness in the lever, but has anyone else had similar issues?

Some posts do need cable tension just right so that they don't either slip down slightly, or return at snail's pace. The fact you're having trouble dropping it as well suggests a full press of the lever isn't quite unlocking it.

Unless the seat clamp is too tight, as above, I'd try adding a tiny bit more tension at the barrel adjuster to see if it makes a difference.

With 280 psi in it you will certainly notice if that sorts it out. What's the max recommended pressure? That sounds awfully high.

Pressure range is 250-300! I thought it high too. Also the one up docs don't even mention air - it was only after seeing a youtube install video from a third party that I even saw where the air valve was.

Just noticed a mistype though, it's not exceptionally hard to push the seat down, it's hard to push the lever, I'm not even sure I'm managing to push the lever all the way so that might explain the slow return.

Oh, that does sound like you have a kink in your cable. Probably the easiest way to test the return is trying it with loosened seat clamp, then take it out and manually actuate it. Then you'll know if you have a cable/lever issue rather than something up with the internals.

Will try a new cable tonight. I'm not sure how to manually activate it as there's nothing to pull, the cable sits sort of inside a housing.

When i installed my post It was slow to rise initially as the seat post collar was too tight

I didn't even know there was an air valve for the post - i'm not going to take my saddle off to look for it but this vid does show some one putting air in

Its odd that the oneup site does not have any info about the air valve - anyone found any official info on it ?

Contacted ubyk again - they're saying still a couple of weeks to wait - this is for a 30.9 170mm.

Looking on One-Up's site they say: SOLD OUT ITEMS AVAILABLE END OF JUNE

Which isn't very reassuring...
