BBC1 coverage 00:00 - 06:00

BBC2 coverage 06:00 - 09:15

So, they flip channels, right at the climax of the event.

Why on earth can't they just put all the coverage of a big event like this on one channel, to avoid all the switching around?

Didn't know changing channels was so difficult?

It isn't, but neither is realising that a long running event deserves to be on a single channel.

They'd never dream of changing channels half way through a footy match.

They do it with the Wimbledon coverage.  And there's usually some overlap so you don't miss anything.

One day the BBC will realise that what they need is a dedicated "popup" BBC Sports channel so Wimbledon / Olympics / etc can get blanket coverage when it's on without ruining the schedule for people who don't care for tennis / running / etc (with highlights on BBC1 to keep everyone informed)

It's not exactly a huge field in the women's race!

I was thinking that! 13!

Was writing out a whole thing about it but then pop ups.

FFS even editing on iPhone which I never normally have an issue with I can’t get the page in the phone.

jesus, it’s not worth the aggravation trying to type

i cant find submit

i see why people are complaining now

im am a P and logged in using an iPhone 7 never usually have an issue but tonight absolute nightmare.

Cleared cache etc and rebooted phone but it’s the site that has the issue.

BBC turn the race off half way through and say go find it somewhere else.

Says a lot for the establishment view on women’s sport.

Go straight to iplayer. Casting it to tv here after a brief battle.Lol

These riders make we feel completely inadequate at mountain biking!

Damned good watch though, those up hills look brutal.

Last's looking pretty imperious but I won't lie, I'd be happy to see some flats or broken chains or something, it'd be nice to have someone I follow on Strava take a medal. 45 minutes in and this div of a commentator still can't pronounce Isla though.

Somebody I've ridden with took a medal 🙂 Had a little chuckle when the commentator wondered whether she would take a good line on the track - she did fine when I was struggling to hold her wheel riding around Newport a few years ago!

Gaze had a hissy fit because he thought Anton Cooper should have waited for him on the last lap when Gaze punctured. Gaze gave Cooper the finger as he was waiting for his puncture to be fixed, then moaned about unsportsmanlike behaviour after the race and wouldn't accept Cooper's gracious congratulations. He has since apologised on Facebook...

As above said. There’s a bit of history between Sam and Anton from Glasgow as well but he did make an epic bellend of himself.

womans race was interesting, I know Samara well and she was super unlucky with a tyre slash on lap 1 which pretty much put her out of the race. Isla did really well. Islas Dad is staying with Samaras family !

Never knew XC could be so exciting. Fun to watch. I was struggling up some climbs this evening and kept thinking of the pace in the men’s race! Eesh.

Just caught up on watching the races. Thought the women made it look easy but then the pace of the men was crazy. How they ride that fast up tech stuff is amazing.

Great racing all round.

Wasnt the tv coverage good too. Lots of cameras and all the action. Usually its shit. Commentators were good too, compare to the road race commentators who sounded like they'd just woken up and didnt know anyones name, a rider from England has attacked, no its Jersey....ffs how many riders from Jersey could it have been?

That's Ollie Lowthorpe, and a cannondale hollowgram chainring, narrow wide I think. Pretty sure he's been on that setup (with XTR Di2, not eagle as the commentators said) for ages, and this is the first time I've seen him with a dropped chain. Worst time for it to happen!
