So Junior microshift is changing up, then 1 click down and it drops 4 gears.   Adjustment doesn't help, its been sprayed with GT85 and jiggled a lot....

Any ideas?

How are the cables?  Inners are so cheap that is usually the first thing I change when shifting is going funny.  After that I would check the hanger alignment

Cables are good, everything g moves fine and the bikes has only about 300k on it.  It appears to be an issue with the front shifter.   FWIW the other side was the same, but it freed itself after several attempts.   The bikes ben stored the right way up in the mancave, washed after wet rides.

BVR - thanks yes it is 8 speed, thanks for the offer.   I’ll have a play with Boxing Day and if no joy I’ll drop you a PM - he needs it for Tri

Has the shifter broken by the cable in hole?

Cable possibly split in housing and getting stuck and then springing away? Did you squirt some grease in the outers before installing the cable? I do that and it seems to keep the cable operation smooth for longer (I'm assuming it is longer)...

Had the same issue.

Cable end had split where it enters the shifter. Changed the cable and that sorted it.

grease in the outers before installing the cable?

I usually run a cable through pre (park) greased fingers, but this was installed in store.   mrchrist, timely post considering the date , I’ll try a new cable tomorrow, thanks.
