hi STWers

after several threads about do I, should I get a C’Dale mtb with lefty- I’ve just decided that I just have to.

I’m buying secondhand a complete bike (when I find one) and would love the carbon version, any variant really, but there is a team version, Black ?, 1,2,3 etc

Apart form increasing cost from one model to another, what’s the key things to look out for ?

and if buying a secondhand carbon framed and in some cases wheel Rims, what should I be looking out for ? Cracks obviously - but beyond that ??

i should point out again I’m looking at buying a complete bike, not just the frame - and for me it’s a significant investment -  so I’d really like to ensure I’m not buying a lemon.

thanks

Does it have to be a trigger? I have a medium Habit 4 ( heavily upgraded) lefty.

My only input would be to say to go and actually look at the bike before purchase. Particularly carbon.

Also, why exclude buying say the frame and forks then getting the rest piece meal? That's what I did with my carbon Jeffsy. You can speed the cost a bit and build it up *exactly* how you want it.

Will also give you more choice potentially.

I built mine up with mostly second hand parts off the for sale forum on here. 😃

I built up my El Guapo and my Cannondale Prophet that way, but lefty prices are high - so it seems to make sense to get the complete bike rathe than just the frame, then the lefty etc otherwise it’s gonna blow my budget

Only reason for the trigger over habit is I’m so used to the 140mm travel of the Prophet and I know it works for me.

If you head back to the original cannondale trigger Paul's cycles offer thread, I'd suggest approaching anyone that bought the spec that you are looking for.  Quite a few folk bought bikes and sufficient time has passed that they might now be looking to move on to their next bike.

I'd like for cable rub into the frame and forks, I found the rear brake cable on my carbon jekyll had rubbed a few mm into the frame.

Also turn the bike over and have a careful look for rock strikes on the downturn.  All the frames had protector on them, but it didn't cover all of it.

Also ask as to whether the fork has had the mandatory internal upgrade if it's a supermax lefty.

Good luck on the purchase.

Thanks withersea , some good advice there, will try and locate that thread

is the upgrade the two spring upgrade that Cannondale offered for free ?

thanks chaps - am going to look at one tonight - a Trigger Black inc, two owners, no services on either the dyad shock or the lefty, which I've priced up at Tf Tuned and silverfish circa £400 for both ! Quite expensive to keep these in tip top condition.

But my question really is what sort of price do the Black Inc models command ?

The bike I'm looking at is 2015.

They range from very sill money to still lots of money 🙂

What price should I be looking at ?

thanks
