I've been doing intermittent fasting on and off for a while now and really quite like it. I fast from 1pm until 9pm each day. If I'm going riding at 7pm and I eat beforehand, would I be OK to then not eat after riding and fast through til 1pm the next day? Or is this going to be bad for recovery and make me feel horrible?
Anyone else ride near the beginning of a fast?
I do intermittent fasting too. I stop around 10pm and don't eat until around 7am. That doesn't interfere with my riding (usually). If I am riding during those hours then I'll eat to maintain energy levels.
Do you eat at 9 or just go to bed? Not sure what benefits youd be getting woyh that if youre eating at 9? 16hrs including your sleeping time is where people are seeing the results.
I fast from 1pm until 9pm each day
Is that not just eating your dinner late?
Sorry! I messed that post up. I meant to say I eat from 1pm - 9pm, so if I ride at 7pm I haven’t really got time to fit a meal in before I start fasting.
I’d be riding and then not eating for 16-17 hours, until I break my fast at 1pm the next day.
If I ate for 8 hours I wouldn't be hungry for aaages!
Just eat and ride more, I can happily ride after fasting for over 12hrs or morning as we like to call. It
Is this one of those fadting improved mental cogs things too?
Ah meal skipping(or it's new fad name fasting) the diet of the pro athlete.
I thought when you stop eating for a while your metabilsm slows down making small and more often better.
Craig.. for me personally my intermittent fasting is intermittent if that makes sense. I wouldnt do it every single day. It has to fit in with what youre doing at the time.
If youre doing a big ride at the end of a fasting day just have breakfast the next day like normal. 3 or 4 days of fasting periods in a week is still massively beneficial for people who do it. Doesnt have to be day in day out. Thatd probably break me.
🙂
Thanks dirk_pumpa, think you might of been the only person to understand my question. I didn’t explain myself well!

I do that by eating 3 meals a day.
For Sam the equation was simple: "Lighter meant faster which meant I stood more chance of winning."
Thats great ang.. nobody is telling you to stop doing that.
I wouldn't eat before. Your blood will go to your stomach helping digestion. Eat afterwards and don't worry about the fast being exactly 16 hours...
P.S. I fast the same period and that's what I do.
Is this the same as not being good at eating breakfast?
