just ordered one of these, anyone with longterm experience, i've read the camelbak continually slips

https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Evoc-Race-3L-Hip-Pack-2017_99560.htm

use code ECWJ2R for £5 off = £33.15

black or olive green (no bladder included) (its £71 for the bladder set)

seems a good price, it'll hold a bottle, or bladder so considering ordering the ergon 1.5l bladder as i cant find a reasonably priced evoc one

Yeah, the one thing I really don't like about mine..

I wonder if this will be any different?

Our daughter has been racing using mine as her backpack hurts her shoulder [broken collar bone injury]

She came back from the EWS yesterday and had used mine in practice but had to use a backpack for the race which held her back protector.

She raved about it so much that we ordered another last night, so I can have mine back

My only concern is in the event of a crash that it may put too much pressure on one part of the spine

Mine stays in place but that might be a women thing

I've been using one now for about 6 months with a 500ml bottle no bladder.. holds a fair amount ( spare tube, co2 cartridge, assortment of bandages/band aids and some pain killers, lezyne pump, tubeless repair kit, small container of links etc and my multi tool). If it's a night ride I tend to thrown in the foil blanket if I'm on my own.

Doesn't move much I like the padding at the back as well. Not sure how it will hold out with a bladder.

I have slight difficulty in trying to cinch the straps tighter when it's on my waist so pre-cinch the straps and then dorn the pack.

At that price it's a bargain.

Recently bought one with a bladder.  Used it on couple of rides, works fine, much less intrusive than a back pack.  If you fill the bladder to 1.5L space is limited so I have been running mine at 1L which is enough.  Agree about it not being the easiest to cinch when wearing it but even when not fully tight it doesn't move around much.

The bladder is made by Hydrapak but Evoc branded.  It fully opens so can be turned inside out to dry.  The hose routing is a bit fiddly and attaches to the waist band or jersey using a clip and magnet, ultimately it might require a Plan B for when the clip goes AWOL.

Tredz are fine, as long as some fool doesn't put up a PSA that makes a load of people all try to buy something that isn't in stock anyway. Oh. 😉

(ta OP, don't forget Quidco for 2/3% cash back!)

Well that’s me ordering something I don’t need! Cheers. I’ve found everything I’ve ordered from tredz recently has been delivered pretty fast tbh.

that's cheap... paid 80€ for mine with the bladder back in Jan.

never use the bladder as my frame takes a 750ml bottle which if i drink a pint of water before setting off does me ok for a few hours, although saying that i did stuff a 500ml bottle in the net the other week on an big ride.

pack easily carries essential tools, some nuts/bars and a Montane windproof. i usually stuff a long sleeve through the loops on the long ups.

even using a Bluegrass back protector my back is no where near as sweaty as it was when riding with a pack.

Oddly I read the EVOC continually slips, but the newest Camelbak Repack LR doesn't. The Camelbak is top of my list. Still, that's a tempting price! ah... it doesn't come with the bladder so that pushes it up to Repack pricing.

Surprisingly good. If you're not sure about going for an arse-pack you could do a lot worse. I changed the hose/valve on mine for a spare Camelbak one. The supplied valve is a bit crap.

I've got a Camelbak FlashFlo - picked it up in the Wiggle sale last year with 1.5l bladder for about £20.

Used it quite a bit and it's less bulky than a back pack.

As others have said if you fill the bladder full it doesn't leave much room for other stuff in the pack.

You have to keep adjusting the belt as you go through the water though - I found the little side cinch straps didn't make much difference.

Tredz are all over the place with orders, don’t even attempt to buy hope it’s on 20-25 day backorder

I bought a few fox Tshirts and they arrived 5-6 days after order, I got this evoc bag last week in 5days too

Ok I got suckered too... sounded like a good price to try one at.  Mines held up to 22nd to, so blatantly awaiting stock.  No worries, I’ve learned never to order from Tredz if I’m in a hurry.

So, apart from the standard Hydrapac, what fits and what’s recommended bladder wise?

Given that hip packs are a hit and miss thing hope you all get on with it.

Though I've got a wry grin at the moment thinking the FS section will be awash with EVOC packs in the next few months! 🙂

I'll use mine for summer hill walking if it's not up to biking. Sure it'll be fine, means I can take the bottle off the bike too, I like the nice clean carbon lines!.

Nah. Got one. Seemed like a really good idea but I'm not impressed with the quality - one zip has broken, the strap is frayed and the mesh is already full of holes.

As above, at £33 if it doesn’t work out for the bike it’ll find other less demanding uses without it hurting. 🙂. I’m treating it as an experiment with hip bags for me without buying something more expensive.

I use my montane batpack quite regularly. Often use it with the kids I'm we're popping out for a walk - I then have a means of carrying a drink and snacks without needing to carry a rucksack

Comfortably takes:

goretex shell

armwarmers

pump

29r tube

2 x CO2 canisters

plus a bit of room to spare. No bladder but then I’ve got a bottle cage on my bike.

Comfy on a ride too. Only bouncing was while seated over a few rocky sections, stood up and descending didn’t notice it at all.

Sounds good.

I have a 2 litre Evoc bladder from another pack I've never used. It's design should allow it to be folded over at the top to decrease its size and fit in ok.

Got mine, tried it out over the weekend.

The only weak point I can see so far is there's no snug space for one of those massive modern personal telephones. I had to chuck mine in the bladder pocket.  The rip strip had a single waterproof-zipped pocket for just such a thing.

Put a bladder in it, (have to find the top over) and can get 1.25L into it.

Tools etc fit great and very comfy actually. Taking it out tomorrow for a test. Nice not having the weight on my shoulders....the pack also hides my overflowing waist line which is a bonus! Lol

Large mobiles could do with a dedicated pocket but not a massive issue.

Im pretty amazed at how much kit this holds. I have a bottle cage on the frame so don't want/need a bladder.

Great bit of kit for summer / short rides. The usual Evoc build quality as well. At £34 it was the deal of the month.

Ok, went or out a shortish ride tonight.

Very impressed, not having any weight on my shoulders was great. Having the weight around my waist was basically unnoticeable. I forgot I had the thing on, can't get better than that. Bladder had over 1 litre of water in and I basically had the bag full up with spares/tools etc.

Being picky? The water tube is not as easy to get to as I just had it tucked under the waist band to take up the slack. There are better solutions around to that anyway but that's the only negative I can comment upon.

Going to use this a lot over the Summer, chuffed! 👍

How exactly does the cinch system work on this?

Ive received one today for summer, but when i try to pull on belt on the buckle nothing happens? My buckle etc came loose so no doubt its threaded wrong

Would any one be kind enough to take a pic of how the buckle and cinch section are threaded please? A close up perhaps

I assumed you just tug at it and it gets tighter or press the opposite way and it becomes slacker but mine does neither the way its threaded 😣

Any help appreciated

OW - I'll try to remember to get a photo of mine this evening for you.  Used mine for the first time last evening, and was pleasantly surprised.

Any recommendations for which bladder?  I used a cheap one from eBay and not only did the water taste disgusting, but it doesn't fit well, and the fold I used made drinking difficult.

been using one for 6 weeks or so, its great in hot weather, stable, light, got a pump, co2, tube, multi tool, light rain/pub beer garden jacket etc, just the job. Be all the rage soon. again.

cheers fadda - appreciated, looking at the pics, mines has 2 plastic cinch bits (as well as obviously 2 buckles), where as any picture ive seen it just has the buckles only, then 2 guides for the excess

I cant pull it to tighten on the fly, so once its in place the strap is it suppose to not slacken off with weight/movement?

any other one ive tried you just pull either side to the buckle to tighten up once they become a bit slacker, theres no option on mine to do this, unless its routed through the buckles incorrectly from new

I don't think the evoc bladders taste nice at all, id just get a camelback one if possible (though im just using bottles so not bothered by a bladder)

I use a silicon bottle in it, don't ever really drink on the move, and most of my riding is winch and plummet type so time for a wee drink at the top.

Very happy with mine, and a total steal at this price.  Ironically though, the weather is almost too good for using it right now - on a Iong ride I need more water than it can comfortably carry.  Still, for average summer days it's spot on. Might need to buy a smaller mini-pump or CO2 thingy though, as my regular pump won't fit inside.

Had mine for over a year and it's my most used pack. Usually use it with water only in the bladder and a separate bottle on the bike for energy / electrolyte drink.

I tend to slacken off the side straps and then tighten the main strap. You can then tweak the side straps if you need to.

side straps??? not even noticed any! do all of yours have 2 clasps on the front belt as well as the buckle? so essentially 2 extra pieces of plastic?

side straps???

You can see them in the picture on the original link. They're the ones that join the 'wings' to the main body of the back.. they're so you can slacken off the pack for improved air flow on the climbs but work just as well to fine tune the fit.

Not sure what you mean by clasps.. mine looks just like this:

my main belt doesn't look like that - buckles are identical, then you've got 2 loop bits on to keep the excess tidy, where as mine has 2 extra clasps where your bits are...ill take a pic tonight and show you, either mines is an updated version , or a old version....

the only strappy bits ive got on the side I think are for tightening up the bottle holder to keep it secure

mine also didn't come with the little magnet thing either (though I didn't buy the bladder version)

Mine is the same as yours by the sounds of it, 2 extra plastic 'buckles' not the fabric ones in the pic above. I also have the side straps, yes, they are as you say to tighten up the pack contents, but they also stop the pack bouncing about. I'll take a pic tonight if I can be arsed!.

ah right cool, so with these 2 clasps nobeer, is it set rather than its gets slacker over time? theres no way to adjust it on the fly with this system, so kinda hoping its just set and forget on the main strap!

I must have those 2 side straps then, just thought it was for the bottle, but didn't realise they did something to keep the pack tight

On mine the side straps are adjustable on the fly as the pack contents changes e.g. you drink water, add/remove jacket etc to keep things nice and tight. Obviously to adjust for your waist size you'd just do that once with the main buckle.

Don't think it has that little plastic clip on the side.

that's great zilog, sounds like its almost setup first on main strap, and then move side straps accordingly for weight/water loss in the pack itself

sounds great, cant wait give it a shot, no way could get away with one in this weather on long rides at weekend, but perfecto for evening rides!

Yes that's exactly how it works. I couldn't actually find a clear photo online of those extra straps! But it looks like the version on the Evoc website doesn't have them, so I assume that's the new version. Makes sense that Tredz would've been selling an older version given the discount!
