I’m about 100m from the Boat hotel and I can even be arsed going for a beer. Sat in front of the fire with a small* dram , daughter reading a book. Lovely. Will be in bed by 10 !

* small was out in context when pubs reopened and a double was worryingly small !

Going to sister in laws up in Stirling, talk of pint at Allan Water brewery but nobody seems to have considered booking. Either way I'll be damned if this year is going to end as miserably as it panned out.

I've started the new year with brother and family, who in NZ are already in 2022.

We're planning a quiet family evening with two lads at work....I'm probably going to bed early...

This would be my plan as I've a ride planned for early tomorrow, apparently I have to stay up to watch the date change not sure why. In bed by 0005 hrs

Popping round to sisters for beef butties. Not drinking as we're going to Wales tomorow for a night (closing the caravan for the winter). Will most likely pop out for a meal on Sunday. Not so sure we'll stay for midnight as we're all full of colds.

Apologies, but I s****ed at that, as (not sure why, but) my 12-year-old inner me went straight to, "euphemism?"

No drinks for me due to a potential infestation of Lyme's within my body so on the antibiotics. Will mix a few cocktails for the other half of she wants them. 0% beers for me!

Cooking dirty Chinese takeaway style food, sesame chicken and ribs. The pizza dough for New York pizzas tomorrow has been in the fridge since as yesterday. And going to attempt a buratta too. And maybe sneak out for a spin on the fixed gear.

Nowt on. Lobster Mac 'n' cheese couple of glasses of red. First time in a lot of years not having folk round or going out. Just can't be arsed.

I'm still on emergency driver duties for Mrs S, so no alcohol in case we have a dash to the hospital. That means the first "dry" Hogmanay for me in almost 50 years. Frankly, it seems somewhat apt given what a shit year it has been.

I'm just back from a rather soggy bike ride and plan to be in Loch Morlich tomorrow morning.

As above Chinese takeaway, might make it to 12:05 slumped in front of the telly but probably not. Got plans for the next 3 days so dont want to waste the waking hours with a hang over.

We’ve a few glasses and a meal, but I’m more looking forward to hill running in the morning tbh

I think I’m more engaged by the “will I, won’t I?” attempted Garmin watch purchase.

Playing on xbox when my son goes to bed. He wants to see the fireworks but I don't want to wake up a toddler at midnight so can only hope some locals decide to let some off early.

Fennel sourdough baked for tomorrow’s sandwiches.

Pizza dough doing its final knead for tonight’s dinner.

Couple of drinks tonight at home.

Ride to the coast with our eldest tomorrow and meet up with my wife and our youngest for a walk on the beach.

Eat fennel sourdough sandwiches at beach.

You’re not doing it right if your plans end tonight.

After by far the worst year in many, walked up-to Ana Cross in the North York Moira and drank some champagne. Staying in lodge, watched some kids movies on Disney+

Now it’s pizza, fizz and the transporter, if it was up to me I’d go to bed but having a Scottish wife we all have to stay up until the “bells”.

Monday before Christmas, the surgeon who headed my cancer treatment team said " See you in 6 months for a check-up "

Tonight, my wife and I are going to celebrate the start of a New Year and the end of 18 months worry and uncertainty.

Bring it on, I'm ****in' invincible!

That's amazing. I have plenty of experience with the big C and I feel like for most people now the odds get better every year. Have a good 2022.

Everyone here is asleep. I'm drinking Aldi whisky and coke and watching Dirty Harry.

I've read some genuinely heart warming and tear jerking stuff on here recently. STW is an emotional roller coaster. You're a right pack of bastards!

I went to see “Titane” at the cinema. What an amazing, amazingly ****ed up piece of work that was. Awesome.
Now watching the American Rust finale with a beer.
Once you’ve seen 57 New Years, they cease to be a special thing don’t they?!

Spent the day riding at Barry Sidings in the rain. Fear and exilleration in equal measure. Just watched Pitch Perfect 2 while drinking a bottle of red on my lonesome (dog led at feet so not really alone). Might hit the hay in a minute. Only seen 55 years but just as jaded as DB.

Happy new year to you all you beautiful bastards

Same as most years since I gave up going to Edinburgh each year.

Staying in away from the forced exuberance. Zoe and the dog are already in bed so I'm watching Jools, drinking wheatbeer and looking forward to a Caol Ila at midnight (can't quite fully escape my Scots heritage). Then up in the morning for my customary New Year's Day ride before heading to the coast for a walk.

after getting in a proper state last year on beer, gin, and then Buffalo Trace bourbon, I've barely touched a drop all year.

Not changing tonight either, about to set out to pick up eldest daughter from a friend's joint NYE / 18th birthday party. Had a glass of red wine with Xmas lunch, and that is literally it for the whole holiday. Even my Dad got some Brewdog Punk AF in for me for Boxing Day.

For music - got fed up with what was on so have been learning Clash bass lines and revisiting Californication instead.

Kind of half celebrated our first 12 months* of moving up to Scotland tonight.
All a bit low key though.
A few beers in the local brewery then back for a couple of snifters while watching our neighbours fireworks.
*
It'll be 12 months on the 4th but were here short term last NY before going home to get the rest of our stuff packed up and moved.

Kind of nice to just be chilling out instead of the traditional big night out... Drinking a mystery whisky from one of my dad's hipflasks, no idea what it is, how long it's been in there, or for that matter why he had 8 hipflasks stashed in the cupboard.

Sat on my own, watching Jools. Apart from Christmas lunch at my brothers, the nearly two weeks I’ve had off work I’ve spent at home and I’ve barely moved away from the house. I just can’t work up any sort of enthusiasm for going out or doing anything. Normally I’d be seeing in the New Year over my mate’s place, but one of his work colleagues has had two positive LF tests, so even that was called off. It’s been a shitty ten months, and honestly I can’t see much to be cheerful ahead. Looking forward to going back to work just to get away from the house. 😕

Had a nice walk with the fam and a couple of mates with their kids, then stopped by ours for some homemade pizza and coffee. Lovely day but I was knackered and fell asleep about 9pm - only just woke up. Hey ho! HNY everyone. 🙂
