The current stw consensus would probably be the Pinnacle Arkose, but there seems to be lots of good deals about

I picked up a Genesis CDA 10 earlier in the year for about £800. Might be some good deals around at the moment.

A cannondale caadx tiagra is good fun and comes in under £1k. Wheels are a bit heavy and benefit from an upgrade

I had a CAADX Tiagra for about six months, before building my Salsa Vaya, it’s a very comfortable and capable bike but as stated wheelset heavy. Got mine from Startfitness for £900. They always have deals, worth a look at the website

There are some great deals on Genesis datums around...and also the gravel bike in Halfords had hydro 105 for 999!

Seen a few deals on the CAADX 105 recently, Alpine had one for £999 I think...

Also the Boardman ADV 8.9 looks really good in the flesh, seems a decent spec too.

I have got a Boardman ADV 8.9 and really like it. It is my only bike now so gets used for commuting, longer rides and on the turbo.

Spec is good - there isn't anything that I would change on it. Like the hydro discs after having cable discs on my last bike.

I like the orange although some people may not!

Seems to be a lot of bikes at £1000 with choice of either Apex 1x hydro or 105 2x hydro
