Cyclists need to stop being so pious, pay road tax - and obey the rules like us motorists

same ol' same ol' so it anti lockdown pro car party

oday, cycling is an exploding craze, a macho, high-speed hobby bringing town-centre traffic to a stop and turning the roads near my home into a velodrome.

high speed yet bring traffic to a stop.

They should be forced to mark it as an advertorial sponsored by the Koch brothers.

The idea that it isn't car traffic but cyclists bringing town-centre traffic to a stop is absurd.

Well I'm pleased that I look macho in my tight fitting costume.

He's just getting twitchy cos the US election result has just basically meant Johnson either waters down Brexit substantially or sends this country fully down the economic plug hole.

**** him and all who sail in him (or loiter in his malodorous, nicotine-tainted slipstream).

The man is a odious arse. Fortunately, not everyone agrees with him. From the MoS comments:

Please just don’t give the twunt the oxygen of publicity. Every click, every discussion, every post gives him a reason to exist and stir the pot. Just ignore him!

But this kind of guff is so formulaic, I'm sure they could get an AI to write it and save a packet.

high speed yet bring traffic to a stop.

intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in the mind at the same time 🙂

Thats why Nige is able to campaign for deregulation and and 'slashing the tax burden' whist also demanding something should be regulated and taxed.

I don’t understand how this prat gets so much airtime. Wish he’d just bugger off somewhere and leave us in peace.

Well, he did loose £10k yesterday ( if he really did put that bet on?) so I guess he is trying to get some of it back through writing for the Wail.

He is there to provide the required balance to the debate. On one side you have a reasonable person who has properly formed a point of view and can back it up with facts/evidence/reasons etc,., on the other side you have the biggest **** on the planet

Mentions "The Queens' Highway" which is always a sign that it's been written with a certain audience in mind by AI

Don't understand why he cares. Cyclists are rarely prosecuted for red light jumping or riding on pavements because the risk to other people is absolutely tiny, so the police turn a blind eye.

Exactly the same principle applies to cars on the road - rarely is anyone hurt by a repmobile doing 120mph on an empty M1 so there's no need to enforce the limit, apart from when it's congested and the cameras used for the variable limits.

^^ I don't actually agree with this but it's how a police officer explained it to me. Personally I'd have the cameras on all the time and hidden.

I’m sure they could get an AI to write it and save a packet.

They tried, but unfortunately Dido Harding and some other of Dom's 'big data' mates got the gig. Having pocketed a fortune it was found that their AI algorithm was utter shite and just typed the same word over and over again...

Personally I'd have one in every hundred cameras, on a randomised daily rota, replaced by a laser guided missile launcher. Just to keep people on their toes. On special occasions handheld speed cameras would fire one of those boxing gloves on a lazy tong that Acme sell.

Hhmm, well unlike er... James Martin and a few others I can’t think of at the mo, who outed them selves as cyclist haters, I already knew I hated Farage and that he was an utter ****, so this isn’t really useful news.

It's the final death rattle of a desperate has been.
He's well and truly scrapping the bottom of the barrel now.
Hopefully it's the last we'll see of this bottom feeder.
He's destined to become the sad disagreeable pub bore in some union jack flying pub in the home counties.

His trying to raise his profile again with his 'booze and fags and ****wits' Reform Party bollocks because he's getting twitchy that Alexander Boris De Pfeffel Johnson (man of the people) is going to cave to the EU and 'betray the will of the people' or somesuch shite.

If he chooses to travel by light plane again..... what do you reckon a second hand Stinger costs nowadays?

King of the Gammon hamming it up for the gammons in the Mail.  Basically fawning to his supporters, exactly what just lost Trump the whitehouse.  We all know the man is a cockwomble, best just ignore him and move on.  (Some of the new cycle lanes round out way are complete shockers though)

Have some sympathy for the man please*, he's losing his job as MEP at the end of December and his US-based "Trump's best MAGA UK mate" meal ticket has just evaporated too (and if he's lost £10k so much the better) is he's obviously desperate to find a new outlet for his many talents** so is casting his eye around for a convenient passing bandwagon to leap upon***

* by this I of course mean that under no circumstances should you have any sympathy whatsoever for this odious little >insert the collection of nouns of your choice here<

** and by this I mean his talent (singular) as Odious little (see above)

***Again

This is what we all said about Trump.
And Brexit.

Personally, I think Reform will do very well.

Don’t understand why he cares.

He doesn't, not really. This is absolute text book "othering."

It's just more transparent at the moment with him for obvious reasons.

That said, having gone from utterly dividing the UK and attempting to perpetuate the same continuing in the USA... to othering cyclists says a huge amount on where he is at the moment.

However I agree with what someone said, I suspect his new party will do very well as many people genuinely seem to need people to hate to get through their lives. More so soon than ever after they get to taste the brexit sh*t sandwich they themselves voted for.

I think there is a genuine possibility he is PM one day.

My single biggest longterm fear ^^^^.

When the Brexit disaster unfolds fully and the consequences are laid bare for all to see, will the electorate realise it is a historic fail or will they double down on the hate and look to a 'strong leader'.

Brexit and the EU are just a proxy for nasty nationalism, racism and xenophobia. How much have Farage, Trump, Johnson etc now legitimised this? How long can we sink? Will there be enough new younger voters to outweigh the gammons dying off? Will the Brexit recession taint enough younger voters to turn them nasty too?

I doubt he'll be PM himself. I don't think that's the role he wants.

But he's already enabled Boris as PM, and my worry is that he'll potentially enable a worse version unless the narrative of division can be halted (I'm looking at you Starmer)

Nigel as King Maker is the role he wants.

The Guardian has run an article on this, calling out the populist trolling that Farage and the Daily Mail are now peddling:

I very much doubt that Fartage wants to be PM, he's an agitator a "shape-shifting creep" as it were.

I live in Kent, I look forward very much to seeing Mr Fartage when I'm out on my bike.

The Graun article ends well by warning us to look at the bigger picture.

Farage is a **** for hire. So long as the cause is nasty, polluting, unhealthy etc he will spout some timely shite. For the right fee.

In more sensible times he would have been in Panto, but then so would Boris ****ing Johnson, and he got to be prime minister ffs.
