before i take the plunge on these, is there any reason not to buy them? are they one of the best waterproof shorts out there?

ive used for a year plus the gorebikewear paclite shorts - which were fantastic, but the arse ripped on the seam on two pairs, so i sold the last replacement pair i had whilst still in packaging 🙁

they were great until this happened to me! also extremely pricy too!

im after something just as waterproof (hopefully) to keep my bum dry and something hardwearing on the rear?

im only 11stone fully kitted, so no STW beefcake 🙂

Yes, I've got a pair, they're excellent. Mine are mediums but they're cut very long in the legs; even for a lanky freak like me, it's still knee length.
I wore them for walking/running at the weekend in bad weather. It was warm, so no need for full legs but it didn't half rain!
Otherwise, they get a fair bit of use commuting.

If you don't need the full waterproof-ness, the MT500 Spray Baggies are the ones to go for although personally I'm not a fan of the on-bike cut of those, they tend to ride up.

I've never had a problem with mine. Worth noting that the material is thin, so offers no padding / little warmth, but I've not managed to damage / tear them either riding or working outdoors.

good so far 🙂

crazy-legs - ive got a pair of mt500, they are decent shorts as you say, i think i probably got a size to big as mine tend to fall down on my skimpy waist 🙁

they are great in weather where its forecast showers etc, but im after some proper full on waterproofs like the superlites!

i can buy these from the lbs so sizing should be fine to sort out

really just want to have a dry arse at the end of mucky/muddy off road rides in the winter

I have some - they're brilliant.
just the right length to sit on top of knee-pads.

they are thin, so for cooler weather, make sure you have warm shorts or 3/4s underneath.

Yep, they're dead comfy. I've used mine for a 200km ride, mainly in the rain, with no problems.

Also, slight tangent but, I don't bother with a waterproof jacket when riding (too sweaty - I save it for when I'm off the bike) and if I use the Superlites with my Overboard Waterproof Backpack on the commute I don't get water running down my back and inside the shorts. 8) I do with my Alpkit Gourdon or Camelbak 😕

HTH
