Will my ratchets from the long standing system work within the latest rendition being Ratchet LN

Isn't the LN the conversion, so to turn a 370 to a 350? If you try and fit an LN to a 240 or 350 it won't work, as there's an additional lip, which means it won't function.

That lip is on the seal though isn't it not the ratchets.

Yeah, it doesn't work, they are not compatible, when you install it, due to the lack of a chamfer and the lip, it just compresses the ratchets together, and pretty much binds them when you tighten the axle.

Oh well it would have been too easy to have them all work in unison , thanks for your replies

The ratchets themselves will work but the freehubs and hub shells are different.

350's and Pre-EXP 240's and 180's use a bi-material seal that's pressed into the hub shell and the Freehub slots into it, this is what DT have used since forever but it requires tighter tolerances and more CNC work to get right.

The 370's have a simpler system with the seal mounted onto the freehub, it means that you can get ratchets into DT's least expensive hub platform but it has meant a whole new standard to go alongside DT's existing, Ratchet and Ratchet EXP systems.

If they'd just updated the 370 to use exactly the same system as the 350 then the price would have been about the same as well, which would be a bit pointless and also wouldn't have allowed people to convert their older Pawl hubs to Ratchet.

sorry to hijack the thread,
i just got one of these
https://www.merlincycles.com/dt-swiss-ln-gravel-disc-rear-wheel-700c-262050.html

By LN i presume its a star ratchet hub?, a DT370 with LN internals, so equivalent to a 350.
seemed a good price, the only online info i could find was on reddit stating its 24mm internal width and effectively a G540 rim 24H

Not sure, they’d usually call it a ratchet hub, so might be a hub that can be converted, could ask merlin the question, only take a minute to remove the freehub to check

The LN came about because 370 to 350 conversions were being done anyway and DT presumably wanted to provide effective sealing. Using off the shelf 240/350 parts worked just fine but you had to remove a seal so it wasnt ideal.
The ratchets themselves are exactly the same as those found in DT star ratchet hubs over the last 20+ years (excluding
The only new part is the freehub body.
Whether you can use half a ratchet set in an EXP hub though.. I'm not sure.

@argee ordered yesterday and due with dpd today so will check and add a review to the site.

i asked the question, response below, not great and i tend to rate merlin.
"We have only got rear wheels and all the information that we do have is listed.
Unfortunately they are warehouse based stock so we are not able to check anything else currently.
Thanks and Kind regards Steve"
