Low rainfall with little in the forecast.
Don't know how you extrapolate that data to northern half of GB - it only covers England

I didn't I have Scottish intel too, just no link to it.
I live in Scotland. I has been pretty dry.
Furry muff
I also live in Scotland. I also has been dry.
People in Scotland have told me... they have been pretty dry
I live in Scotland. I have not been dry, but it has been dry.
Local trails have turned to sand, not seen since the awesome summer a couple of years back!.
It's as a result of Cornorain virus

I live in Scotland. .
It has been snowing on and off for 3 days. Between rain storms.
African style heavy rain storms.
Not Scottish mizzle.
Stay Alert - Control The Virus - Stay Dry

Whatever we get it goes downhill to the home counties (gravity) cos they have gardens to water you know.
Stay dry.
Protect the reservoirs.
Save water.
Do you know what? I've had a think about it and.... using my new measure of what's "Bad News" these days, I think we'll be okay, in fact I think if the whole of the UK is dryer than Nuns gusset until Autumn, I think we'll be okay.
In fact I think if you said to Bill Oddie "Bill, bad news, there's a terrible drought coming that's going to last until October, resulting in many Birds that usually flourish around Britain's lakes and rivers having a pretty tough time of it" he'd say "Whatevs Man, I've been stuck indoors with the Wife for two ****ing months straight - did you know she writes Fireman Sam episodes? Can you imagine what it's like to live with that sort of mind, day in, day out for 2 months? Do you, don't you think we've got enough to worry about without getting all pissy because it was a warmer and dryer spring than usual - well ****ing do you?".
I don't know Bill, but I've always imaged him to be a very angry Man away from the cameras.
I've seen at least three quotes recently saying it's been dry in Scotland but then saw another saying it was bloody showing....
I live in northern England and it's dry here.
I live in Scotland it has been dry, except for my walk yesterday, that was wet.
No meaningful rain - other than 1cm a couple of weeks ago over a weekend - since just before lockdown here near Derby. Lawn is looking parched, borders rock solid.
Flood, plague, drought, presumably famine next
I live in scotland and can concur that where i live (galloway) it has been very dry since the beginning of april, apart from two days recently when we had a bit of on/off drizzle
Flood, plague, drought, presumably famine next
Shop has sold out of Tunnocks Teacakes. Think you are right 🙁
I live in Scotland and the borders but not MoreCashThanDash's. It's quite dry apart from the bits I watered.
I can confirm that Scotland has had below average rainfall so far this year.
It was 20c in Aviemore last week.
It has also been snowing over the past couple of evenings.
One from todays ride

I've been watering the garden.
I live in Scotland, it has been dry apart from a few days recently where it rained. I got caught in a hail storm the other day on my road bike which was unpleasant.
I love how this has gone from a thread about potential droughts to just being the same weather report from different people.
It's been mostly dry where I live (Scotland) too.
We're OK if there is a drought. We've topped up Loch Vaa.
I live in Scotland, believe it or not it has been mostly dry for me as well.
Whoda thunk it
Very dry here, houses down the hill have had their well run dry reservoirs pretty low for the time of year, we're getting reasonably worried about our spring. South lakes. Reminiscent of 2 years ago but not quite as hot...yet
I’m in Scotland too. Guess what? It’s dry. Dry as a bone! The garden is parched.
The dry spell coincided with the start of lockdown. Makes you think.
No contrails, maybe it's this dry all the time? Mud's just the feds messing with your mind, man.
The 5G signals break up the rain clouds
My council has issued a water scarcity warning, urging people with private sources to conserve water and to look for alternative sources. I thought that kind of thing only happened down south
I live in Scotland and have been watering the garden. April had 150% of average sunshine and 35% of average rain.

Seeing as no-one has provided any information from Scotland yet, it may come as a surprise that it's been fairly dry here of late - bar a couple of heavy showers.
It was an incredibly warm and wet winter. First year in living memory that we had no snow to speak of here. Hooray for extreme weather...
Very dry in Edinburgh - but thats no surprise given its one of the driest bits of the UK.
Not just northern U.K, been dry and sunny/warm all over looking at those values. Definitely the case in South Wales. Having said that, the rain and flooding earlier in the year makes me think drought is a way off.
Just to balance things out, I'm in England and it is also dry here.
Planted out a new border recently thinking we'd get some rain but no, not a drop.
Based on the number of replies should STW move the office to Scotland?
Well it rained in Backworth on Monday (IIRC) and I got caught in the hail yesterday morning on my daily exercise, and the water butt in my garden has filled up nicely. So, yes, on balance, it's been dry here too...bit nippy though. Maybe the next ice-age is coming...then again, maybe not. Give it 5 minutes and I predict that something, somewhere, in the weather patterns, will change.

You should take them to court for failing to collect the vast quantities of rain that fell constantly between September and January.
Seriously though, I can’t believe this level of entitled moaning. A few months ago it was the opposite with floods and raging rivers, and now the sun as come out...
I can confirm that it is dry in Edinburgh. I have actually had to water plants! In fact, it's so dry I put gravel tyres on my hardtail. I also had to go sweep the trails at our bike park due to all the loose gravel. Who sweeps trails? Normally they are muddy. I feel like an American.
I missed the summer two years ago due to being in a lab every day doing my MSC research project and now we've got lockdown super-mega-summer. Ugh.
Scotland (Shetland) defo North GB! Snow on and off since Sunday and other than the odd few days wet and cold. Pretty sure we've not seen over 10c this year yet. Had to pop to work yesterday and the car maxed out at 4c
Shop has sold out of Tunnocks Teacakes.
Let's skip famine and go straight to Apocalypse 😱
Seriously though, I can’t believe this level of entitled moaning.
I think we're reading different threads. I'm never totally sure when you're joking any more.....
I can’t believe this level of entitled moaning
What are you on about?
Kryts, I believe the thread is almost entirely a piss take.
I’m not 100% on you post at the minute, could be a double bluff 🤔
Seriously though, I can’t believe this level of entitled moaning. A few months ago it was the opposite with floods and raging rivers, and now the sun as come out…
Did anyone else hear that whooshing noise?
I can only presume that it was some strange atmospheric phenomenon driven, perhaps, by the prevailing dry conditions in Scotland. For some reason, the lack of rainfall up here of late seems to have gone unmentioned thus far in the thread?
Very wet winter causing crops to planted late/not at all will be pushing food prices up, now a drought on top of that? Not good
Sadly warm wet winters and dry the rest of the year may be the new normal
I live in Scotland. In between the rain and snow showers, it has been totally dry.
Nevermind that, there seems to be a scarcity of nuns in the the East Midlands against which to check how dry it actually is....
Clearly it is not the weekend when no doubt it will tip it down, and I am working from home so no chance to enjoy any dry/sunny/warm weather, so, therefore, I can confirm that it is dry today here. I checked scientifically by sticking my head out of the window and as it didn't get wet, I have come to the conclusion that it must be not raining or wet, so hence it must be dry.
Before the rain last week the trails here in south Aberdeenshire were drier and dustier than they were at the end of the long hot dry spell in summer 2018. All but 1 of the springs that run across the track on the top of my local hill had dried up, including 2 that didn't in 2018. I was out on my bike last Friday in the rain and the trails were underwater but a day later without rain they were back to dusty again it was astonishing how fast the water had soaked away.
Had a couple of showers in the NE UK.
Anyone know what it's been like in Scotland ?
Kryts, I believe the thread is almost entirely a piss take.
Sorry my bad, took it seriously whilst eating my toast, apologies...

Eh? Have I said something to upset you? Where do you you get that from in my post? I am not an entitled land owner, I was stating the fact that my council has issued a warning to those are; which supports what the OP has observed. I'm environmentally aware and I checked SEPA which shows that my area has had less than average rainfall for 5 of the last 6 months. I'm certainly not moaning about it, what's that going to achieve?
I'm in the North of Scotland. It's stopped being dry.
Yesterday was mainly dry, but on the dog walk on the higher ground there were desultory flakes of snow, and the top of the mountain is a wee bit whiter.
Had to pop to work yesterday and the car maxed out at 4c
Yeah, but have you fitted your summer tyres yet?
Yeah, but have you fitted your summer tyres yet?
I did - and we've had a couple of frosts since.
Makes.You.Think!
I rode Sandhill Sandpit, Sandy Lane, Sandy yesterday; can report it was quite dry
Hourly update...still no rain
I live in Yorkshire. Guess what. Yes, it’s been pretty dry lately
Makes up for autumn 2019
Nevermind that, there seems to be a scarcity of nuns in the the East Midlands against which to check how dry it actually is….
There's a convent in Derby if you really must.....
It's drier than an Arabs flip flop here.
I'm thinking of changing my name to Parchy
Yeah, but have you fitted your summer tyres yet?
I put a racing ralph on the front at the weekend
Scotland
Currently raining. .
Grass needs cut.... Not today now oh well

Firstly "my bad"!!! WTF
Secondly if toast is tilting your ability to see a light hearted thread I suggest you change your choice de jour of breakfast comestible.
I sense the stress of lack of sales is getting to you? I might moan about working more hours than ever (for no extra pay) but I guess it means I'm occupied & not worried about my job?
Though any semblance of fitness has disappeared and I'm pastey white despite the on average warmer & sunnier weather 😉
I in too Scotland and here been it's dry live. Or something like that.
Mrs OTS has cracked open the sprinkler!

Took many white carbs
Mrs OTS has cracked open the sprinkler!
Anyone else not entirely sure what that could mean but too scared to ask?

Just minded I abandoned a real life ride on Saturday due to being caught in a thunder storm with rain so big it hurt on impact.
It's also raining again after a hiatus over lunch.
Achnagart, Highland has had 139.2mm of rain since Thursday evening with around 87mm falling in the last 24 hours... and it's still raining. This area would typically see around 90mm of rain in the whole of May.
Here just south of 'rainy' Manchester. we've had about 5 x 3 minute showers in the last 4 odd weeks. The wind had immediately dried those tiny showers. Grass is starting to look brown. Pond is at its lowest and I'm running out of water from 3 butts for the fruit and veg.
Parchy Panther - love it.
I though5 the Tay was looking a bit higher yesterday. Still little rain here, though it’s been pretty windy. 💨💨💨
