Had decided my trusty X2 will continue to work as my head light, but would replace my bar light instead, as my Trout mini has definitely died and the Wilma I was limping along with, is giving up the ghost

I had settled on CandB seen 7 LED unit, but they have no stock for 4/5 weeks. What decent alternative's are out there?

I want a single lamp (no Gemini titan for me thank you very much), don't mind a battery pack and prefer XPG LED for a floody bar mounted light (but there thin on the ground). As much as I'd like a Exposure 6 pack, I don't have a spare £400 or even 200 really, so no fourth lights either... MTB Batteries and gloworm X2 are too narrow, before they get mentioned again (great lights but not what I want).

I bought from C and B seen - the 7 LED light. The communication is somewhere between relaxed and "in hiding".  The product ( for me) is good ... the service is mixed.  I know there are supply issues as h has taken a friend;s order and is now faffing around about stock / availability.

Have you tried MTB batteries?

What about Torchy on eBay?

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F302633498611

Couple of mates have his lights and haven't had any issues.

Igot a Nitenumen X8 for about £40 and it is absolutely superb. Bright as you could want, nice soft beam pattern, battery last for absolute ages. Unless you'rea brand snob I can't think of a single reason to spend more on a light.

Want something floody, the likes of the Luminator and X2 are 'just' (much) better versions of my Solarstorm X2, and are too narrow (or bright) for general rolling along in a group.

See my update your on other C&B seen thread, Roger's been in contact with me and if I could wait the 4/5 weeks I might so, but my current light is rubbish.

..Torchy's MT unit is definitely the default alternative option, except I'd need to replace the mount and it's 'just' 3 XML, which I'm not convince would be floody enough

That all-in-one looks great, I was quite tempted by the Halford version with a bigger battery but I can't see it's going to be floody (wide) enough for what I want, as it the same head as my X2.

XPG's are normally used when you want a more spot type beam. I'd be looking at XML's or XHP's if you want a more floody light.

Not in my experience*, there a lot more short throw than my XML light but loads of spread but need multiple units to match the high output XML's, which have loads of throw but are too narrow. My XPG trout mini was ace (I loved that light), not seen XHP's and only just heard of the XPL exposure use (when I checked their website)

*which may not match official line but are what I've seen in real life, so have to use them as my base line. I'm not being difficult for the sake of it 😀

Fair comment, everyone sees things differently I 'spose. The optics are what do most of the work in controlling the beam.

XHP's are one of the newer Cree LED's and are fantastic as a bar light LED. This is one I built for 2 x XHP70 and is close to 8k lumens.

They do a few different sizes (35/50/70) but there doesn't seem to be any production lights using them yet..

+1 for Torchy too, head torch though.

I've also got a re-branded Nitenumen (^^^) as a bar light and can't fault it.

I would say, don't bother trying to find a suitable alternative bar mount though as I've now had 2 failures and have gone back to the original.

As an upside, it's a robust unit. Falling off at 20mph on tarmac has resulted in a few cosmetic marks but still works faultlessly, so it's a thumbs up from me.

I have a Torchy BK 7ven on my bars...

Serious amount of bang for your buck if you don't mind the battery pack.

I'm a big Four4th fan but I also have Torchy lights (BK3 & BK7) and would happily buy from him again. The MT-3000 and Tiger 3500 look decent.

I'm currently using a BL70 from Kaidomain in Neutral White 4000K which uses a single XHP.

http://kaidomain.com/bike-lights-and-bike-accessories/Bike-Lights/KDLITKER-BL70s-Cree-XHP70_2-3000-Lumens-4-Mode-LED-Bike-Light

It's nice and  floody and also has plenty throw. Prefer it to  both my BT40s and  BT70.

I know you've discounted mtb batteries but I have a luminator as a bar light and consider it to be quite floody, I really like it as a bar light with a more spotty head light.

Trout Mini flickers when you hit the rough stuff, I've had in piece's, & cannot locate the issue.

Mark90, my friend had a luminator and a Gloworm X2, they are not floody or more to the point, I don't consider it floody enough. Mark (Smudge) would be my first point of call otherwise.

I'd have a chat to him about the flickering issue too, he knows his stuff and may be able to help or know someone who could. should cost less than a new light

I ordered a light off Kaidomain last month, took 8 days from ordering to arriving with the free shipping.

I have had three night rides now with my Light & Motion Taz 1500.

It is very floody, which I like.  The control is quite simple with a “race” mode that toggles just between 1400 and 600 lumens or you can switch it on in standard mode where there are more settings to toggle through, including the 1500 lumen which is great.

I bought it as it is the all in one style and didn’t want a Velcro strap rubbing the frame on my new bike!!

Quite expensive, but a decent enough price at cyclestore.

Ive also heard good things about light and motion warranty suppport but haven’t used it yet, even on the old logic mv light that is still firing up.
