Hi
I have bought a 26" wheel with a 13" frame bike for my 8 year old son with 175mm crank arms, his old 24" bike had 145mm.
My question is should I drop the crank length down to say 152mm? If so does anyone have any for sale.
Thanks

You will struggle to find much smaller than 165mm if you are looking for good components.
I'd say its very worthwhile changing. 175mm might hurt his knees. Guessing he is pretty tall for his age to be on 26" wheels already?

Is your son a giraffe?

q,

As a rule of thumb, look at cranks being 10% of height.

SJS cycles offer cranks of all lenghts if the STW Classifieds cannot help.

Never used but i have heard good things. Might be worth further investigation.

Thanks guys, no he isn't tall he is just a very good rider. The bike is only 13" frame so xs. Its almost the same geometry as his 24" wheel but with 26" wheels. He wanted to roll faster which he seems to do with 26" wheels but I was worried about hurting his knees with 175mm cranks.
Thanks
