I've just stripped the thread on my Sram X1 none drive side crank arm.

I've seen kits to fit a helicoil but they're more than a new crank.

Does anyone know of a bike shop in Lancashire\Lakes who can helicoil if for me and roughly how much?

cheers

I don't know about bike shops up there, but an engineer would be able to do it too

IIRC its not a standard thread so unlikely an engineering shop will have one the right size

cheers for the links.
The price of a kit is too much for a one of repair.
I'll contact Hewitt cycles and see how much.

Get ready for a "which crank to replace my X1" thread 😆

We used to do a lot of helicoil for riders cranks but we cannot do the machining any more sadly. However we do have the inserts here if anyone needs any. If you do just get in touch with me.

I got a helicoil fitted at Wheelbase in Stavely in the end. £20 and still going strong.

X1 - Carbon cranks with a metal threaded insert ? - not sure how helicoiling that would work.
