Caught a seemingly ordinary cold virus in early December. Achy arms n legs for a day, two days full on snotty, two days bit coughy and clearing last of the snot. All cleared up, back to riding methinks.
Went out 18th December, bust a couple of ribs in a crash. Few days off the bike, then just gentler rides til just after new year, when I got another coldy bug on the 2nd Jan.
Since then I've managed between the snotty, runny nose, chesty cough, two big hill walks, three steady offroad rides and a snowboard session, but, I just can't get rid of the cold thing. Seems to almost clear, then comes back, full on snotty nose and coughing.
Anyone else got a winter bug they can't shake off ?
Right now ,would love to go on our local shop ride tonight, but simply don't feel well enough.
I should be riding three times a week, not just six since Christmas. 😕

There's a specially persistent virus going round this winter. I caught something two weeks ago and it's still bothering me now.

this winter, one short head cold and been fine otherwise.

I haven't done anything differently.

I'm currently suffering from a particularly debilitating bout of man-flu - the first one of the winter after a few sniffles around xmas time.

Came on really fast too, felt fine Sunday lunch time then really shit Sunday evening. Yesterday was a write-off, today won't be much better. .

December *-!# pah, had really bad flu late September, rumbled on through Oct, every time I tried riding I'd go downhill again.
Just clearing up at the end of Oct and another cold, took me through Xmas.
My wife finally nagged me to see the Dr, did x-rays just said I'd had a series of virus'.
Just getting over a final cold now 👿

Wet, mild winter means very few days where the temp has been cold enough to kill off the bugs....as a result coughs, colds and flu like illnesses are persisting beyond the usual amount of time we have them for, apparently....was on the radio the other day.

I'm lucky I don't siffer from colds - having a missing sinus sac means I get blocked up but a squirt of prescription meds makes that go away in minutes. Usually in a gurgly, private moment - sometimes if salt water is involved through my right ear 😆

Had the same bug by the sound of it . Bit of a cold at Xmas followed by a bit of a cough both repeating themselves until now. Went to doc who said just a virus .... probably! She then frightened me to death by telling me there was a resurgence of whooping cough among adults but I am fairly sure thats not what it is. This is the first week since xmas I have managed a few decent length rides without collapsing in a wheezing heap. { my wife, who has had a permanent chest problem since childhood ,has no sympathy }

Me too, got a chest cold early January which came on very quickly, took 3 weeks until I felt my chest was clear enough to ride, 1 week back on the bike then back it came, still have catarrh now but cough gone, hopefully try a ride tomorrow. 100 miles so far this year-rubbish start to the years riding.

Got a cold about this time last year that hung around in my chest. Eventually ended up at the docs in Spring and after various tests and x-rays it turned out I'd developed asthma. Which is a nice edition to 37 years with hayfever. I'm hoping for eczema next to complete the hatrick!

And my hip hurts.

Good luck and stay warm! Keep a scarf on. A warm head and neck can prevent the virus taking hold. Or so I'm led to believe.

Had the/a "bug" around Nov. as an ageing asthmatic it floored me for 48hrs, basically shut the curtains and slept off the aches'n pain. Only cycled to work because I have to. Binned the night riding etc. due to Dad passing away in Dec I've rarely ridden off-road this year so far, 1 night ride where my lungs were bursting and a decent run on my new Ridley X-Trail 😆 I no longer work shifts so riding time "going forward" has been reduced but hopefully I can offset this with some quality rides with some old & new riding buddies.

You don't want eczema 😉
Had that most of my early years till 14ish. Missed a lot of primary schooling with both asthma & eczema issues.
Current aches'n pains = Achilles! knees! hips! collar bone(broke x2), hands/fingers and neck.
I am however an auld geezer who has abused his body since starting work on a farm at age 9/10 with my grand dad & uncle.....

Woke up this morning feeling a bit stuffed up. Felt fine all day. Took the kids to their swimming lessons at teatime and BAM! I am full on blocked up now. Propped up pillow night, full of decongestants and old speckled hen.

I've been blaming the grandson, the son has custody on his rest days, I just start to get rid of the cold and the grandson comes to visit for a few more days with a new lot of germs. 🙁

Two weeks, two giant spotty tonsils and six boxes of tissues into a horrible cold, getting really fed up now, especially as the trails are dusty dry 🙁

Have had two relapses now, nose dries up and feel better but couple of days later it's back to square one 👿

Producing some amazing orange rubber jelly from my nose between the runny nose spells though. Sure it has industrial uses.

Tempted to go to the vet and get put down

Orange mucus is a sign of a sinus infection.

yeah pretty sure they're infected, there's blood too, my teeth hurt when I walk and my sinuses feel like they're going to burst. Yay

Checking in to this thread as someone who hasn't felt completely clear since November.
Every big ride has given me a couple of days of flu-like symptoms. Small rides just wipe me out for a day.
Still managing to get out though. Racing at the weekend 😯

I got a stinker of a cold on holiday at New Year (Malaysia) - took 3 weeks to get back to semi-normality & my sense of smell has been a bit vague ever since, but weirder than that - my farts have also gone military-grade to the extent they're no longer "funny" when in the company of drunken adult males & my wife actually got up & left the bedroom at 2am one night due to a particularly terrible emission... even the dog started barking at me after I dropped one last week...

I have been doing a lot more commuting miles this year, and eating healthier - so the farts might actually be a side effect of burning off 30+ year old fat reserves 😳

Since Xmas I've had the pleasure of four distinctly different viruses, with at most two weeks between one finishing and the next one starting.

Can't wait for the hayfever to start 🙄

I've been bad with man flu for about 2 wweek now, coughing, shivers and feeling cold when actually hot, hacking up green slime,my ears been blocked for 4 days but the ear seems to have cleared a bit.

Normally they don't last more than three or four days for me..

Yup... Since early September last year. Finally went to the doc who gave me, being an asthmatic, antibiotics and high dose steroids. Finally cleared up the end of April..

I have had some sort of flu thing (had proper flu once and it's not that) this has lasted for about 4 weeks and I was a lot worse than I told the missus otherwise I would have been put under house arrest and refused access to the pub/beer fridge

I have this too but only because of the antibiotics I think, dog farts have nothing on these bad boys

I've been pretty much constantly I'll since November when I had a cold and stupidly still went for my jabs for a
trip I was hoping to do to Africa. Blinding headaches, stomach cramps, stuffy joint aches, fatigue etc etc. Lately I have noticed my jaw hurts below my back molars along with my ear and throat on that side. Wondering if it could be an a dental problem. Used to get regular tonsillitis type illnesses through uni until I had my impacted wisdom teeth out.
