Its good but no newspaper headline beats this:

After inverness beat Celtic at football
That's a great story, but a terrible headline, SR.
'Spot the idiot!' would be the tabloid version.

Australia: hold my beer...

Edit: Apologies, I think I have posted the first one previously.

MPS UP ALL NIGHT WITH HOMOSEXUAL BILL
not a headline, but Jo Whiley once said "Lets hear the latest sound from Courtney Loves Hole"

Lolz @ Hols!

Gotta love The Sport.
My faves: Shoots You

That's the pinnacle of the page layout craft!

Britannia Waives The Rules in the i was good this week
Not sure if it was really a headline but
" 5,000 British troops enter Jordan
- busy weekend even by the ex glamour model's standards 😉

The surely apocryphal Yorkshire Post headline from February 1952:
"Former Duke of York Dead"
And a real one, best read out loud:
"Rhubarb Woman Gets Custody"
The reason things have to have warning labels...

I love this one:
I love this one:
Bloody Australians for ya!
Another contender...

And one from my old patch (long after my departure)...

Loving those last two....
Two I remember from my youth.
Midget in violin case
And
Prostitutes appeal to pope.
My favourite effort of my own was when a story emerged about Jimi Hendrix faking being homosexual in order to avoid being drafted into the army.
So my headline was: Excuse me while I kiss this guy
I was very pleased with myself, and amazed I didn't see it used anywhere else.

Hmmph, well it got headline of the week in Press Gazette IIRC.
Well I liked it.

Lol, some great ones there but I must admit, it's the unintentional ones that i love the most.
Great thread op.😁
This made me smirk from that Poke link...

While I respect what the Sport does, I think it's more comedy than real headline writing. Too easy if you're just making the story up rather than creating something to fit a real-life event.
That could not look more like a Sovietwomble video. "Right lads, we're going to sneak up on the enemy base, I need some of you to go around the flank and... no, what... what are you doing?"
This made me snort:
BBC News - Cancer patient's leg treated in separate Glasgow hospital

Being as the thread topic was about headlines , ya know the attention grabbing often misleading part and not the article , why would he have. I suggest going back an reaquainting yourself with the thread headline.
^my point exactly, the headline made me laugh and I did read the article.
@donncha - 22 just killed me. 😂

She's played that octopus story admirably straight.
Must try not to spend the next 15 mins coming up with a punny alternative. Too much work on.

Sex Change Bishop in Midnight Dash to Palace.
There is the every so slightly racist private eye headline from a long while back when the Japanese emperor was visiting the UK ( He was ruler during WW2 and thus responsible for the burma railway the =killing of many captured commonwealth soldiers)

I liked the Star's one a few weeks ago re: Boris, Hancock & Cummins:

That chimney one reminds me of a recent thread - ‘find the bastard who shat in my bin!’ 😀
Ooh, that Eye one has aged badly.
I took this photo ... didn't buy the paper though.
When i was working as a journalist I once got a 'lead' (wait for it...).
In the previous day's lost and found there was a notice about an escaped dog.
Then a little further on, a notice that someone had found a dog. A slow news day story waiting to be written. So I took a photographer (those were the days) out to do a couple of interviews and photos of the dog.
I submitted the story with the header "Lost and Found Hound."
... the 'story' ran, but with some lame header about the dog saying sorry! That year I came runner up in a journalism prize. I swear I would have won if that had been printed as submitted. 😛 Gutted.
Great thread. That monkey one destroyed me.
