Hello any Banshee Prime v3 owners. I'm looking to get a frame but am wondering how much of an issue the maximum seatpost insertion is for you all?

There is an updated frame coming in over the next couple of weeks that has a bit more room for droppers, maybe best to wait until then?

Thanks,

Jimmy

I’m 6ft with short legs.

Large frame with a 150 Brand-x but by my reckoning I could fit a 180mm One Up.

In summary: not an issue, but I might be tempted to wait for the V3.2 frame anyway.

What frame size are you looking at? I have a large in my shop and a range of posts to depth test if it helps. From memory a 180 OneUp doesn't go quite to the collar.

The V3 will be cheaper if it fits, the 3.2s are an extra £200 RRP to RRP

Large titan here. 180mm one up doesn't quite slam to collar.

Large v3 Spitfire and a 180 oneup dropper wont quite fit all the way in either, Im assuming the seattubes were replicated across the V3’s and the v3.2s are being produced for the most popular models first.

I just sold a V3 Prime not too long ago. They're superb bikes. I'm just shy of 6'2" and had a 210mm One Up dropper in it. In conversations I had with Keith of Banshee he said the maximum insertion depth came due to issues with a small batch of frames which ended up in the US. They had to highlight this on the website just to cover themselves. The new batch of frames which are due soon have resolved this issue with changes to the seat tube. Get the 210mm one up dropper and then you can shim it to the correct height should it be an issue. Doubtful you'll need to though.

Thanks for all the replies, really helpful and reassuring.

Just too late to buy yours @Haggis1978!

Will get in touch, @Pygin.

Any stealth ads very welcome, as well as any ride reports. Had a Rune a while back, so well made, smooth and terrifyingly fast. Hoping the newest bikes have improved things even further.

In case this is of any use to others reading this thread, here is Banshee's response to my question:

The V3.2 frames have new custom hydroformed seat tubes allowing for more seat post insertion while also improving the front triangle stiffness profile. Plus, they look sleek!

The frame geometry has been modified slightly to account for longer axle to crown forks while maintaining reach per size and balancing out riding position.

But the devil is in the detail, and we have been working on the minutia for the V3.2 frames. Adjusting weld setup, paths and settings for more consistent weld penetration, using new manufacturing processes to ensure superior alignment, minimizing waste and improving tolerances etc…These details add up to a better frame, simple as that.

There is a performance component to why we made the switch the the Float X.

Not even slightly relevant, but just to say I hope you enjoy your Prime as much as I've enjoyed my V1 over the last seven-and-a-bit years. Awesome bikes.

Nice, that's all the info I didn't have time to share when I first posted.
For anyone looking we have one last V3 left at £1799 before they move to £2199 once the new ones come in 🤟

Edited to actually put the link in..

The V3 version is an excellent suspension platform. Great on rough tracks. Plenty stiff laterally. Built like a tank but not harsh at all. Climbs well too. I got a Rune from Pedals in Edinburgh and it served me well last summer. Hope to try a Titan soon.

On mine I ran a 180 one up for not very long but it did fit with my 33" inseam and still had some of the post out with about a cm left until the post bottomed out on the main pivot welds. I think you only have 260mm of post insertion on the Large v3 bikes. One up 180mm is 267mm at full insertion.

I got mine from Pedals as well. Only sold it as the bike I use most often is a short travel 29er and I wanted that to be my better specced bike. Looking at pictures of it I had the 210 one up dropper and about 40mm between seat collar and post collar. I've got a 34" inside leg.

Not strictly on topic, but my V2 Prime had a pretty tight seat post when new. I bought it as a 'frame only', so can't blame the shop for not giving it a quick ream and clean out. First seat post took a fair bit of work (Reverb 175, from memory), but I then switched it out to an OneUp 210mm dropper which is ace (probably still has 50mm seat post showing above the collar).

[stealth ad]might be looking to sell it on sometime soon, as just acquired a Dreadnought. Built with 160mm Pike RCT, LightBicycle 30mm carbon rims/DTSwiss 240s/Sapim CX-ray wheels [/stealth ad]

Thanks for more replies all, all helpful.

And sorry, @GavinB, definitely looking for a v3 or v3.2.
