Last year we were told what the minimum donations were for the metal pins and wooden crosses etc.
This year we had a new lady drop them off and she reckons there's not a minimum donation. She is wrong.
I can't find anything on line, just what the poppy shop sells them for.
Does anyone know?
Although they are only suggestions, I'm not sure if there is a "statutory" minimum?
if you don't know the answer how do you know she's wrong?
The British Legion issue a guide, but no minimum donation is specified.
Yup I've heard this a few times from them and seems fair enough to me.
I'm not but interested in this "minimum donation" thing.
If people just put 10p in the pot for a metal pin they wouldn’t be making any profit.
Before I put the suggested donation sign up a lady put 2 coins in and took 3 metal pins. Obviously people can put in what they like but FFS it’s a poppy pot don’t take the piss.
A couple of years back I had a seemingly normal person come and give me an earful because her paper poppy had broken and demanded a new one.

Poke her in the eye with a metal pin badge, then she'd have something worth complaining about?
I put £30 in the poppy pot in my local cafe this year and didn’t take a poppy so I’m sure it all balances out
donations are donations - there’s no ‘minimum’- that would be a ‘sale’ . You can have a ‘suggested’ donation if you like. But the poppies are free. They’re not a receipt.
when that lady’s poppy fell apart you should have just given her another one.
