Running zombies that are super violent but can be stopped comparatively easily* OR, slow shuffling zombies, which will go for you in slow-mo but are bastard hard to stop...

*depends on your access to weaponry obvs. Guns don't work here....

slow and shuffling - assuming that I would only need to evade/dig in for a limited period of time before the zombies were dealt with by someone else.

whats the intelligence of the zombie? do they convert you to a zombie when they catch you (exponential growth of zombie numbers) or do they kill you?

Are they only motivated to kill/infect, or do they seek something else like food, and only happen to attack those who stand in their way?

Zombies have no intelligence, if bitten you turn into one.

They are motivated by the presence of living things, so will always try to eat you if they discover you.

Slow shuffling ones - mainly as it gives you the advantage of being able to retreat if needed.

Yep, sounds like a plan, but they're always coming; slowly, relentlessly, always shuffling toward you always wanting a bite no matter how hard you hit them.

At least with the fast ones you can stop them and get some rest for a bit...

Easy - Slow and shuffling.

Zombies tend to group so a large herd of fast zombies would be impossible to get away from regardless of weapon. But a large herd of slow zombies can be evaded by heading the other way (plus you get more notice to spot your escape route)

Slow and shuffling definitely.
Got a chainsaw here so could deal with a few. It's the fast ones that worry me

When I was young and speedy I’d take on the speedy ones, now that I’m a shambling wreak I’ll take in my contemporaries.

After watching several series too many of The Walking Dead, I'll take the shufflers, as they seem to pose little to no threat to the cast, and are just the equivalent of jungle vegetation to be hacked through to get to the next human threat.

But a large herd of slow zombies

Sounds like the hordes of people I’ve just seen on my daily exercise/dog walk.

Is it a single zombie duck the size of a horse, or a herd of zombie horses the size of ducks?

Can I choose - whichever will turn me into a zombie first.

In a post apocalypse world being the zombie seems the most stress free existence. You are the hunter rather than the hunted. Whilst you like the taste of fresh human you seem to live indefinitely without food so there is little pressure to find any. There is very little thinking involved - largely because you have no brain. What's not to like?

Come on, as a kid playing out and given the choice you'd choose doing the zombie stumble over the uptight running away human every time. Your inner 7yr old is never wrong.

Slow and shuffling, I've suffered enough of the Walking Dead to know that once you survive the initial outbreak they're more of a inconvenience. Bit like Covid really, you just have to not let them touch you. The danger in TWD comes from Americans, they just can help themselves, the moment they're unburdened from their beloved rules they start robbing and eating each other, and I don't know or live near any Americans.

Alternatively if you consider 28 days later, the fast murderous buggers where far more dangerous, they caused havoc.

Now, if you combined slow moving Zom with level headed Brits we'd have it squared away in a fortnight. Consider World War Z, anarchy in New York, horror in Russia and disaster in Israel- but when you get to the (terrible) final scenes in Wales, things are calm, controlled and we're already working on a cure. Obviously it's a Hollywood film so they have to squeeze in a Yank to 'save the day' but things were under control before he came in and ****ed it all up.

This is the new film Nigel Farage is directing. The zombies also make eastern european sounding gurgles.

I would cut them all dead with a piercing stare and then ride off into the distance with some random blonde who's clothes have been shredded to 'almost' reveal everything but just cover enough to get past the censors so my poorly developed inner 15 year old can still watch.

So you're talking 'Shaun Of The Dead' for shuffling or 'World War Z' for mad running around type?
Definitely shuffling... But if they do catch me I want them to eat me quickly not sit there chewing me slowly.

I’ll take this approach and just wander around in full on power ranger motorcycle gear including helmet, gloves and boots. After a couple of months of living close to being eaten the hordes jaw muscles will have deteriorated. Shufflers will then be in the same place as wasps. Slightly scary and mildly irritating. No chance of their weakened jaws biting through my leathers.

From experience I'd say that zombies come in both varieties - and there are more factors than fast or slow - and some can knowingly switch modes. You're aware that zombies are a metaphor for people, basically?

Plague zombies want to eat brains, while voodoo zombies just want to dance until the sun comes up. Whether slow or fast moving, I consider myself safe from the first group, but I don't think I could survive the dancing voodoo zombies, not with my feet.

Aren’t fast moving ones “infected” rather than Zombies which are the living dead?

Slow shambling ones for me. Just climb something and poke them from height

The problem I have with the slow shuffly type is that you just end up wearing yourself out constantly battering zombies (or bit of undead that just won't stop) until eventually you're knackered. Sure you can outpace them for a bit, but they just keep on coming, how d'you rest up? If you accidently trap yourself, you pretty much a goner...you might get lucky and run it over with your car, but it's just going to get up again.

whereas with your runner, sure it comes at you, but a quick spade in the head and it's down and out. Done.

Always wondered why people sheltered in a house or barn only for the zombies to break in during the night.
Climb a tree.

I seem to remember Michael Jackson made a documentary about this very subject. The fast ones could dance and the slow ones just shuffled.

At least with the slow moving Zombies they'll mostly stay in their existing natural habitat so shouldn't be much of an issue if you avoid Tesco on the weekend and shop local.

👏🏻😁

At the first hint of zombies, I’d be away on my toes to the nearest lighthouse I could get to; nice and high, very well built, and only one point of access that’s very easily barricaded.
Plus a really good view in most directions.
