Like a Muppet I left the door ajar on my 2015 Zafira Tourer while camping. Battery flat as a pancake in the morning. Jumped it fine and working just fine, apart from some dash light oddity.

Turning the key turns all the normal lights on (hand brake, engine lights etc) which then go off on ignition as normal. But no lights come on when driving (cruise control or main/dipped beam for example) and the background lights for the dash aren't working so seeing how fast I'm going in the dark will be tricky. No background light for the little display in the middle that gives mpg either.

Only other issue is ambient temp guage on stereo not working and two sets of 3 beeps after ignition.

Have ordered multimeter and spare fuses to test them (after watching YouTube tips) but I'm under pressure as start a new job on Tuesday, need car for 60 min each way commute and will find it hard to get to a main dealer in the next month.

So... Any tips? In hope.

ILF.

Start pulling the fuses one by one and take a look at them to see if they're blown. If so just pick some up from Halfords.

Hopefully it's just a couple of blown fuses and not a blown ECU!

It's more likely to be the loss of battery power rather than the jump start that caused the issues. Some BMWs needs trailering back to a dealer if you disconnect the battery and reconnect.

Ok, thanks both. A blown ECU would be pretty tedious. I'll go and look a the fuses now, assumed I'd need a multimeter.

I was strongly advised not to pull fuses at random when I had an electrical problem on my Skoda Superb, as one or two would cause problems with some of the onboard systems that require a constant voltage and recoding at dealer if interrupted.
The problem was no one, not even the dealer, could advise which fuse does what without having access to their database and the VIN number

Tricky, but in theory on modern fuses you can see which has blown by looking on the top in situ with a torch to help?

Not sure how long/much you've run it since the jump start, but my 2010 zafira had some oddities with dash lights when it went totally flat until the battery had been well and truly charged up. Basically about an hour or two of actual driving, but you could leave it on charge over night if you have a suitable charger?

All fuses in dashboard bit are ok. Check ones in engine bay too?

@longdog drove home for 2 hours afterwards. Would love that to be the cause.

Success! Taking fuses out and putting them back in fixed it.

Happy days! Thanks to everyone 🙂

Mercedes are terrible for that. Engine management light staying on is a common problem after a flat battery jump start, it often requires a complete clearance of error codes, which needs a suitable electronic device plugged into the OBD port.
With over 3000 cars on site when we’re really busy, it becomes a real chore dealing with flat batteries and the issues they cause. 😣

Our T5.1 had some fault lights and head unit issues after I'd removed, recharged and replaced the battery after it went flat. Took a few drives before everything settled down. I assume it's just the gods in the machine complaining about being ignored.
