Made it to Inuvik in the arctic but failed to get to Tuk as we got whiteout with drifting snow on the road so drove the ice road on the frozen MacKenzie river to Aklavik instead.

Ah amazing - very envious! We only made it to Inuvik as it was summer. Inuvik was perfectly functional but we wish we'd got further north.
How much other traffic did you see? Did you stop in Eagle Plains on the way, or do it in a one-r? And presumably the ferry crossings en route are now just continuations of the ice road drive?
That crack in the windscreen needs sorting.
A vehicle an hour on the road maybe.  We did stop in eagle plains. The Dempster is a gravel road now as is theTuk road but the ferries are replaced by ice bridges in winter.
Everyone has cracked windscreens from the gravel roads
Shine a light. The road south is closed with drifting snow.  We might be stuck in Inuvik
There's worse places to be stuck along that road!
For a while I worked with a guy whose brother flew bush aircraft in that area, and they'd land on the Dempster in emergencies. Although not if the visibility was bad enough to stop driving up it I suppose...

Fantastic

they come like that. Or at least everyone’s windscreen is cracked. As well as the gravel roads gravel is used on the roads when it snows as it too cold for salt to do anything.
Forest looks epic tj.👍
I remember a couple of things from my trip to Vancouver: opening my Christmas Lego at god knows what time in the morning, and it was the Lunar Lander. And walking on the beach and my mother's friend's daughters scaring me with tales of how chewing gum (if swallowed) stayed in your stomach for at least 7 years!
I hope your visit has less of the scary bits, and more of the awesome Lunar Lander bits!
(p.s. it was at least 45 years ago...)
I am still in Tofino.  Seems i got a bit stuck here. Lovely hotel and town.  Yesterday I hired a bike to explore the area. Single speed with coaster brake and no front break. Ermnmmm
I love Tofino. And a very good mate lives there
Im gonna see if i can stay here a bit longer
You tried surfing yet? 😄
You might be a bit early season but a sea kayak around the sound (couple of days) is a great experience.
Todays bike for pretty much a repeat of yesterday
