Any stwers in the Yukon? I find myself in Dawson city in the frozen north. A real bucket list thing for me to walk on the frozen yukon river. I hoping to get a ride on a fat bike next week and am also getting a shot on a dog sled.
I am not going to do daily updates as i am not biking but i thought a few pics might be of interest . Internet issliw here which makes loading pics tricky

Yield to bears! Fairly obviously 😀
Thought this was going to be a Calvin and Hobbes thread. Not actually disappoint for once though!
I used to live in Whitehorse. There is good fat biking there with a lot of groomed trails and rental bikes in either icycle sport or cadence cycles.
And if you like modern craft beer winterlong is possibly the best I’ve ever tasted.
I like the share the trail signs that have snowmobiles on them.
Im staying with friends in Dawson and we are going to take a road trip to Tuk. Its only been around minus 25 or so
Are you wearing fancy dress up there ^^^ tj or are you the bloke in the background wearing white trainers?
Envious?
Definitely!
Im the one in the red bunnet. 😜🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶
That looks so awesome!
I don't really have anything other to say aboot it!
Sorry.
are you the bloke in the background wearing white trainers?
they're not trainers! They are bunny boots. They look very odd in person.
TJ, did the Mountie put on his dress uniform for your benefit?
My sister lived in Whitehorse for 15 years. I never made it over for a visit though. Her now ex was a bush pilot so she got about the place.
Looks beautiful. The scenery ain’t half bad either 😉
Even Canadian Police are looking a lot younger! As usual the Mounties got their man.
Looks beautiful, i remember my trip around Alberta and BC. desperate to move there or even go back, but wife not interested and now have 3 kids so no going back for me 😞
I thought pensioners were supposed to moan about the cold, not go out actively looking for it?
Looks stunning BTW, I'd love to go there!
Wow loving these pictures and sounds an awesome adventure! One day i will visit Canada! Keep them pictures coming!
Much envy is occurring. Looks like it wll be a totally awesome trip, good for you!
We (wife, 10yr old son and I) are in Calgary, Banff and Jasper over Easter (fly out 3 weeks today!). Cant wait - we love the mountains. Hope that you are having a great time.

Epic! Very envious - I've been to Dawson a couple of times but in summer.
Obviously the drive up to Inuvik is a long one - locals do it in a single day, but you may want to break it in 2, stopping at Eagle Plains. Benefit of that is, if the skies are clear, it's a great spot to see the northern lights. Check your tyre pressures, and it's not unheard of to get 2 flat tyres and have to wait for a passing truck/ driver to hail - so be prepared!
Tombstone may be worth a stop, although I'm guessing you won't be hiking far(?) given the weather. And I'm guessing the ferries up the road aren't required as it'll all be frozen over?
Inuvik is fine, very functional; apparently has the cheapest champagne in the region. We didn't make it up to Tuk because the cloud was too low to fly, but keep us posted how you get on!
Of that whole trip from Whitehorse to Inuvik and back, Dawson was my favourite place; but I've heard it's a bit of a ghost town in winter?
You do not look like I thought you looked.
Looks amazing and look forward to more pics. What's the temperature, out of interest?
Nice. Needs more toy tigers though

Im driving up north with my pals who live here.
Temperature has been minusc20 to 25 at night. Minus 10 to 20 in the day
We are also supposed to be going camping 🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶
Is the Mountie really, really pleased to see you?
Sister-in-law used to live in Mayo- a mere 400km north of Whitehorse !
SIL worked in the local store and her husband taught in the local school - it was an all-day drive every 2 weeks to get the shopping.
Sounded spectacular but -30C in winter does take the appeal off that.
Enjoy!

Wow, just wow.
NBT and I love Canada and have spent a few winters skiing. Our honeymoon was a Road trip skiing the Canadian rockies, boy was it cold .
looking forward to more photos (fancy dress or not)😀
Looks cold.... Enjoy!
Is the Mountie really, really pleased to see you?
Maybe tj slipped him a Mars bar.
Looks great for X-C sking but I can't see any tracks.
If you do the dog sled ask to do it as a musher rather than sitting in the sled. And if sitting in the sled is the only option you'll need goggles and buffs to protect your face as the dogs kick up a surprising amount of snow when it's powdery.
Canada in Winter is one of the few places I'd be prepared to sit in a plane to get to, though I'd probably go East.
Make the most of it, TJ.
Plenty of xc skiing apparently
Far bike on the river today

Xc skiing yesterday

Great conditions for it !
Fantastic. 🙂
Mushing today. I even had a shot at driving it.

Lol, I do love checking this post at night but I'm sometimes inclined to just see if you made it into the international news by the morning!
Stay safe ya daft sod, id have gone some place nice and warm but you? Nooooooooooo! I'm off with the huskies and hypothermia.👍😁
This is how to enjoy your retirement. It looks absolutely stunning.
There is a webcam that overlooks the ferry crossing in dawson city, you can find it on windy.com
I think its only fair that you tell us. 1. How many times you fell over skiing, and 2. off the side of the sled...
Looks amazing, what an experience, very jealous
3 times on my arse in 100 m on the skis downhill. I was ok on the fkat. Sled went over once. Fell a few times in the deep powder with the snoeshoes. Very difficult to get up again after that especially as my mate was layghing so much😜🙄
Jealous!! Have a great time TJ
Looks awesome! I'm jealous
Today was a tour of some historic buildings around Dawson. Then a drive up the dome. A hilltop viewpoint above dawson

Is that the bar with the sour toe?
Have you been to the bar with the dirt floor?
That view from the Dime is a great one. Is the moosehide slide visible this time of year. It’s a landslide that looks like a moose hide. I’d imagined it was about 40 years old, then saw it in pictures from the gold rush days. It stuck in my mind.
Are the tailings visible by the road on the way into town. Basically a post industrial eyesore, but interesting.
No its a historic bar and no bar with dirt floor
The slide and tailings are both visible
👍
Some pretty epic scenery there!
Today i am going snowmobiling to the " top of the world" road. Which is the road over to Alaska and goes over a mountain range.
Variuos events on this weekend that i have been roped into including a lip sync contest and an open mike night.
"Say yes to everything " as a recovery strategy is takingme to strange places😜🙄🥶😎
By day 54 tj had let his personal hygiene and grooming slip.
Mounties are still optimistic he will be found and are currently following a promising scat trail.
Well, I mean, those mountains aren't messing around.👍 As someone that looks up at the hills on the SDW and thinks ssshhhiiitttt... I reckon those bad boys might be a bit of a sod to pedal up.
...and if FB is to be believed...
HB Tj !
Ok, it's been 2 days.
Time to launch a search?
Hiya
Yesterday we drove a couple of hours north to Tombstone national park for some snowshoeing and skiing. Scenery to die for. We were hoping to drive up to Tuk on the north coast but the road has been closed. Maybe next week

Dring at 50 to 60 mph on snow covered roads makes me twitch. At these temperatures the packed snow is astonishingly grippy even without studded tyres.
Been helping my pal with a fair bit of snow clearing as well in preparation for the melt which is coming soon as daytime temps are reaching zero now
Hoping to go to a trappers camp this week and camp there. Brrrrrrrrrr
Next week to drive up north
TJ - why aren’t you wearing sunnies or goggles out in the snow?
I am wearing sunnies a lot if the sun is out. I take them off for photos
Sounds like you're having an ace time. 😁
We were hoping to drive up to Tuk on the north coast but the road has been closed.
I just did that on Google Maps. Amazing. Hope you get a chance to do it!
More stunning views on a walk.up to a firewatch tower. Slid back down again. Curling with pensioners 🤣😜

Something i wasn't expecting. Compulsory sequins

Where/ how come the road to Tuk's closed?
Its open now. Blown snow closed the Dempster highway
How did I miss this thread of TJ giving it his best Tony Beets impression looking all windswept and interesting.
Looks a great trip, my cup of tea you lucky barsteward.
Way to enjoy retirement TJ. Looks tremendous. Have a great time! 👍
