I've not noticed that, but I have noticed you can't right-click copy, or CRTL-C to save a picture anymore. You have to do a screen grab.
It seems the 'fabled metaverse' only applies if you are within the facebook eco-system, so more of a members only cloud space really, lol.

Right click... Save Image As... works for me (Win 11/Chrome)
Yes, right click and Save Image As works for me, copy and paste also works for images.
Youtube videos open in a new tab and play. Facebook still adds that junk after the URL (?fbclid=IwAR33E...)

I'm using the mobile Facebook thing on my phone - keeps trying to get me to install the app but I'm refusing to give it more access to contacts than needed...due to my lack of willingness, I've lost my admin ability on a page I'm an admin on - I access the page but everything I do is as myself and not the admin and I can't switch profiles any more.
Images can't be shared or opened in a new window...I get an option to save the image and then I can share it. Similarly, the share to Whatsapp appears to appear and disappear - aware you can't whatsapp stuff from a closed group, but on public stuff, some things let me send a link via whatsapp but most publis things don't.
I don't use a computer for facebook, so I'm not going to get that as a potential fix either.
And don't get me stared on the amount of sponsored links/might be of interest adverts via the mobile phone - every second, fourth and fifth post seems to be an advert...
Absolutely convinced it is Facebook's attempt to drive more people to install their apps and use them directly, but I'm not keen so won't be, so I use it less, but I'm not sure that is a bad thing.
