Full shipping container size, holding tens of thousands of bottles/cans of the same kind of drink. What would you want it to be?

(let's assume you have plentiful fresh water on the island).

I'd probably go for champagne.

Cheap cider in 2l bottles.
Not to drink but to make a raft from the empty bottles.

Indeed, so screw-top Lambrini would do me!

Either go with On and Ons' idea or prey the shipping container landed in a safe spot, empty enough bottles to create a window / glass wall and spend the rest of your marooned days in slightly more comfort than before

You could make a raft out of champagne corks, eventually 🙂

Oooooh. tricky one.

Plenty of water you say, but no mention of food on the island. Also, no fridge, so whatever it is, it would have to be drinkable warm.

If that's the case, then I'd go for either red wine, or water cooler water so I can make an even betterer raft than the one on the neighbouring island that was made with cheap cider.

Weston's organic still cider. In those boxes with the tap.

Help, my legs appear to have stopped functioning

Makers Mark or Woodfords Reserve. I'm going for the crazy cast away vibe. Torn clothes, scraggly beard, talking to a coconut and drinking something strong

Yak. Is it just me or does anyone else find it makes their mouth go 'foamy'? I find that my saliva gets really bubbly/foamy and I have to spit it out. Weird stuff.

Yes, I belive quite a lot of people go a bit frothy/foamy about Brewdog.

Ok then, Hop Fiction or Dead Pony? 🙂

Whatever's cheap and strong in case my escape attempts don't go to plan and I need to resort to a far more permanent escape tactic

Island with water? I've seen this on the telebox. These sort of islands are heavily populated with turkey, and obviously fish.

So, then I'm going Bourgogne then. The lot - reds and whites.
Failing that, Japanese whisky - the lot. I think this is an unexplored area for me and i'll have plenty of time.

Easy there hot-shot; one kind only, no varieties on a theme.

Red wine? Oh come on - desert island, you're going to mainly be eating fish...

I'd probably go for the 2l cider option, though I don't know what kind of raft I'd be capable of constructing after emptying the bottles

Right then i'll go for a decent all-rounder - Nine Popes by Charlie Melton.

Johnx2, of course, how silly of me! In that case, I would have to go for something dry and white, but hope that, against all odds, the gentle lapping of the surf could chill it enough to be palatable.

After all, one should not lower oneself to the wrong wine, one would get thrown from a train.

I'd want several barrels of Hopback Summer Lightning, a metric f-tonne of selected single malts, not too peaty and a plentiful supply of Scottish springwater.

Well, that's nice, but you can only have one thing (only one malt if that's your thing). It could be a Scottish island though for your spring water needs.

Not so heavy/sweet that I couldn't drink it all evening (which rules out anything by Fullers, or any dark beers).

Not so strong that I'd be incapable of making a raft after a few weeks.

Just nice, crisp and refreshing.

[img] [/img]

It would have to be keg though to make the raft afterwards.

If you can make the stream good quality tonic water and plant a lemon tree or two, I'll have gin please. Bombay Sapphire is fine.

We have a decent sized island to ourselves with fresh water and a mountain to play on, a 40ft shipping container to build a nice house out of and enough booze to see us through, why are so many in a hurry to get rescued?

Wine boxes for the same reason as given for the cheap cider.

JD Single Barrel Select and Coke? You might as well use Tesco Value cooking bourbon if you're pouring it in Coke, you maniac.

@Marcus - Guinness is the correct answer. Apparently you could actually survive on that and nothing else though post-rescue carbs exposure would be pretty scary....as remembered from a drunken party conversation with a nutritionist

You want plastic bottle booze, but forget the raft idea.

Build your own floating island and drift over to the other islands where the bones of desiccated alcoholics are bleaching in the sun.

Scoop up their leftover rum, then drift over to the island of lonely lovelies. (They may be Madagascar apes, but they'll look like lovelies after 3 bottles of rum).

Beaten to it with the meths suggestion. I might well be on a desert island but essentially I'll be living like a tramp so I may as well go the full Harold Ramp and have the meths. Then I can go around the place roaring at coconuts and picking fights with palm trees.
