...what is it?

Currently use my little Ghillie Kettle and an ancient stainless steel cafetiere. It is great when paddling, less so if lugging on a walk or bike... I need to brew up for two of us at a time, ideally twig powered OR stove top.

I'm tempted by the 30oz GSI Cafe Press, but would need a separate cooking cup.

What do you use?

Carte Noir Instinct.

I travel v light, so just have a ti mug and mini burner. I dont want to be lugging much coffee paraphernalia around as well. For simplicity I drink Instinct at home if I cant be bothered with a brew. It's really pretty good. I take a small pot of it with me on bivvy trips.

In the campervan I have a small bialetti stove top though.

Why take 2 utensils etc? OK so not cafe press quality, but after a nights bivvy its good enough!

Do 'drip through' ones cool down lots on windy / cold days? (I think I know the answer already...)

Aeropress +1. Maximum of two cups per brew so would be fine for the OP.

This is what I used at the weekend.

Works well, weighs nothing.

If I'm carrying it and it's a day or less, a flask.

Since when did you become a hipster outdoors type? Do you now carry a hand-crafted axe on your belt? 🙁

https://www.gsioutdoors.com/commuter-javapress.html

I use this it is expensive, light and produces hot drinkable coffee.

I use it camping and daily at home I cannot recommend you buy it. it always drips when pouring and occasionally fires hot coffee every where when you plunge . unfortunately it appears to be indestructible so I will have to keep using it for the rest of my life.

DO NOT COMMUTE WITH IT ! IT IS NOT SEALED AND LEAKS UNLESS UP RIGHT.

Crankboy. +1 on your travelmug coffeepress thing, which I picked up in Cotswold on Deansgate Manchester.

But I would recommend it.

I also had a few 'misfires' to start with but then learnt the way of the GSI mug.
(be patient and like most cafetieres, give it a quick swirl to prevent all the grounds forming a plug at the top.
then press slowly and carefully, swirling again if you meet much resistance. That way, it doesn't burst up into the insulating layer and doesn't drip down your front- good luck)

I rather liked the look of this if you are after espresso.

When that comes from another slightly chubby dad type, it is not a term of respect or endearment.
