I ran "Shelley's" in Keswick in 1986, I have some good memories, especially of one or two of the barmaids 🙂

The Roxy (I think?) in York, circa 1990. Best mate was at uni in York, the one rule for the best man's speech I did for him was "Don't mention that night in Roxy!"

So I opened by explaining that the one thing I woldn't be talking about was that night in the Roxy - that seemed to help 8)

Q-ball in Durham. Particularly the night of the Italia90 semifinal.

Most eye-opening was the Tuxedo Princess in Newcastle. I wasn't naive, but went there one night with my cousin and his mates while I was a student in Durham, and it was 😯 with podium dancers, bar staff in underwear and locals who were very forward.

Actual best was one of the majors in London in the early 90s. I don't recall which but had 3 or 4 floors of different house music types. I'd never really got into that scene, being an indie jangly guitar band type, but that night I just got it, even without pharma assistance.

Not really a clubber but spent a night in Trafo in Bratislava last year and it was ace, really packed, everyone smoking (which was quite odd for the first 15 minutes!) then loads of bad central european dancing with the locals! I imagine it was just like the places mentioned here in the 90s....

Another for Union Street in Plymouth

Oz (was then Blondz and now closed)
JFKs

The Academy shut down the year before I went to uni, and then re-opened shortly after I left. Never visited but it was pretty epic by all accounts.

Some pretty cool pics of the place on the 28dayslater forum here:

Scrumpies/Adam n Eve's , Leeds premier metal club (RIP)
Drank copious amounts of Newcastle brown there. It was the dirtiest club in the world but we loved the place , you stuck to the carpet as you walked across it and I usually fell asleep(drunk) with my head in a bass bin.
It's also the place where I finally copped off with mrscarlos over 23 years ago 😀

XL's Birmingham Five Ways - sticky carpets, sweat dripping from the ceiling and going 5 shades of mental to Limp Bizkit til 4AM then walking back to uni halls as the sun came up.

The dodgy geezers in suits who'd got lost trying to get to the underworld gambling den upstairs added a certain variety too.

Happy days

Hands down had the best nights of my life in Sankeys Soap with my mates, nothing beats it at all. This was before the refurbishment, mind.

Not sure I'd describe it as 'good' but certainly 'memorable' was Insomniakz in Sheffield. Used to go there after Gatecrasher shut and would stay there all through Sunday afternoon. Only club I've been to where they had an ambulance permanently stationed outside. Remember seeing three people get stretchered out in the space of about 2 hours once. Also witnessed some guy have a seizure whilst taking a piss in the urinals 😯

Also an illegal/unofficial after party place called the Red House in Manchester. Saw some sights in there. Homeless people with their dogs, crackheads dancing to Jungle with babies on their shoulders at 6am 😯

Also Pressure after-hours in Manchester, god it's all coming back to me now.

How the hell has this thread got to 3 pages without anybody mentioning the legendary Quadrant Park in Liverpool?

The place had it's problems but for a couple or 3 years in the late 80's/early90's there was nowhere better. Knocked spots off the hacienda!
