Mine is on this afternoon.

Not necessarily the best, but my favourite. Probably because I saw it at the cinema and I had the Corgi car.

Sean never did it for me. I though his Bond was too cruel and I didn't like his hats.

Skyfall.

The whole JB franchise did little for me until the grittier, flawed personality of the Daniel Craig iteration.

Enjoyed them all but agree that DC and his portrayal has transformed them into something much closer to Ian Flemings character. I particularly disliked Roger Moore as IMO he didn't look or act (I use that term loosely) the part.

Skyfall best so far.

Have enjoyed Daniel Craig's Bond to a reasonable extent. Still formulaic old bollcks the lot of it though. It's ok, just tonnes of other better stuff out there.

I agree about Daniel Craig, althouth I thought QoS was poor. I would say Casino Royale or Thunderball. Prefer Bourne though.

Casino Royale was my favourite by far - a slightly more real world Bond getting down and dirty instead of 'judo chopping' baddies in a Safari Suit.

The DC era showed so much promise and I stil think he's got a great Bond in him, but QoS was appalling and Skyfall went down that old "I'm too old for this shit" cliche- it's s shame because you can only really play that card once.

I read on Quora that so many Bond films are bad or at least sub-par is because the people behind them are tight - they employ cheap writers, will gouge huge holes in the plot to squeeze a bit of placement and otherwise scrimp wherever they can. It's a shame really.

Skyfall.
visually a very well crafted film by Mendes and Deakins far ahead of previous productions. and a much better film for the flawed character of DC’s bond.

biased choice by actually seeing the sets in person at pinewood but its one of those films i‘ll happily watch again.

I'd say Casino Royale or Skyfall, although Live and Let Die did have on of the best theme tunes. Hated both Roger Moore and Sean Connery.

Having worked on the structures for the sets they certainly don't "scrimp" on those

For me SkyFall is just a little too silly, with things like blowing up Mi6 by remotely causing the air conditioning to explode etc

Casino Royale however is excellent, gritty, complex, good love interest, and not too much sillyness.

Of the older stuff i think probably Thunderball for Connery and For your Eye's only for Moore have the most "Bond" like stories/action, but both look quite old fashioned now.

I was brought up on the older classic Bond films, lost interest in the Timothy Dalton era, now hooked again by Daniel Craig.

But I've always liked OHMSS - I don't care what every other person on the planet thinks, George Lazenby did a decent job of it. I mean, look what replaced him!

I'm with TAFKASTR. It's Dr No - because of the Sunbeam Alpine

Although the Toyota from You Only Live Twice is rather special too.....

Say what you like, Bond drives nicer cars than Bourne 😉

I used to think Golden eye was my favorite ,I never really liked Roger Moore ,or Connery even though Connery was closer to the Bond from the books , I liked GoldenEye because it was a little gritty but I guess the N64 game made it a little more special as its still voted one of the all time fps games

I like what Craig has done with bond taking it back to the start ,making him a little more vulnerable and darker ,and the way Skyfall has turned it all back to the start

For me skyfall and the wife agrees ...so much I have the LM planet ocean in my watch winder upstairs

I think it's a real shame Skyfall wasn't the first Daniel Craig Bond film, as it provides a great 're-set' for the franchise, and Ralph Fiennes is spot on as M. Will be interesting to see where it goes from there, it's Bond though so there's always going to be a bit cheesy at times, that's part of the fun of it.

Skyfall.

Daniel Craig is a brilliant Bond. People say it's formulaic etc but I think it's well set up and crafted. The older bonds just make me cringe apart from the Dalton films which while dated are underrated.

Always enjoyed Goldeneye, partly as already mentioned the N64 games, however my favourite is Casino Royale, went into the cinema pretty cold to it & from the moment the Chris Cornell sung theme dropped I was completely sold.

A special mention tho for Skyfall, for 3 reasons, the baddies empty island lair, the tower assassination scene & the DB5

Scientific fact - the best ones are the ones where each actor has their first shot at it: Dr No, OHMSS, Live and Let Die, etc. right through to Casino Royale. Dr No is the best of the best obviously 🙂

Brosnan was just awful. He does this funny little nasal puff at the end of sentences which drives me mad. It's really annoying. The film with Max Carver the media baron is by far the worst of the Bonds.

I'm quite surprised that so many like Skyfall.
I think it is one of the worst (disregarding the later R.M. ones that were awful).
I found it rather dull with a pretty stupid plot. I know older ones were VERY far fetched, but I think we've moved on a bit since then, and Skyfall was just daft.

Skyfall had its moments but the 'house' Skyfall - please! Sean as the old retainer would have been good.

Dr. No; Goldfinger with Pussy Galore; From Russia With Love. Live and Let Die wasn't bad.

DC - Casino Royale over Skyfall any day. QoS had its moment for me, more than many give it credit for, but..

Skyfall for me. It's more about how close the Bond in the film is to Flemming's character and Daniel Craig is by far the closest example of that.

Plus Skyfall has Naomie Harris in it. Beautiful.

The Living Daylights.

Far more realistic; Timothy Dalton brought that darker, grittier feel to Bond way before Daniel Craig. Less silly CGI shite, fewer wildly implausible bits, moved away from the "villain in stupid lair plotting world destruction" and of course Maryam d'Abo. Just what the series needed after the later Roger Moore films.

The Pierce Brosnan years were characterised by ever more stupid action spectaculars - let's waste the entire budget on one big car chase across some ice and then do the rest of the film using woeful CGI - and daft story lines which is a shame cos he could have been very good.

Danuiel Craig is excellent but again some of the storylines are really crap - what on earth was QoS about?

Oh and Goldfinger - has it ever struck you just how shit Bond is as a secret agent in this one? Gets the girl killed almost immediately. Screws up everything at the factory - in spite of having a high tech car he's defeated by a granny with a machine gun and a mirror. Gets the second girl killed. And finally, he doesn't even disarm the bomb, that's done by the FBI running to the rescue.

Loved Skyfall. Heard QoS was a PoS but actually quite enjoyed it. I love the early Connery ones and thought Timothy Dalton was brilliant, shame it didn't work for him, he was what Bond is all about. Cold, killer and arrogant.

Moore? No thanks. Just couldn't take him seriously. At all.

Dr No. The first bond set the scene. Sean Connery was ace.

Australian guy killed it.

Spy who loved me was great in its time. Roger Moore added comedy.

Dalton bored it but not his fault.

Pierce revived it thank god.

Latest guy is doing ok.

I like From Russia With Love as well, and the living daylights is really good to, quite like skyfall as well, Diamonds are forever is fun cos it has great pace and the requisite filthy breasty bond girl

QoS falls apart at the end because the writers strike happened and it had to be finished off by the director and Daniel Craig winging it !

Casino Royale.

Licence To Kill was also pretty good as Dalton actually played a pretty good Bond. Carey Lowell was very pleasing too.

Thunderball.

We really need a favourite Bond girl thread too.

You Only Live Twice
For this simple exchange between Bond and Moneypenny.

Moneypenny: James you'll need this ( Throws him a copy of Japanese for beginners)
Bond: ( Throwing it back) You forget Moneypenny I have a first from Cambridge in Oriental Studies
The rest of the film is ok too 🙂

For me Bond was basically a childhood thing. The one that I remember thrilling/scaring and exciting me was Live and Let Die. I still enjoy it today. I went to see Living Daylights and Licence to Kill in the cinema and enjoying them too.

Pierce Brosnan was just dire in the role. I watched Casino Royal hoping to see something new, but it was just the Bourne Identity crammed into the Bond universe, badly. haven't bothered with anything after that.

+1 You Only Live Twice. By far the best - baddie's lair in an extinct volcano, gyrcopter in a suitcase, bad kung fu - you can't beat that.

I really like Daniel Craig's bond.... just the right site of being a complete barsteward.

I thought QoS was really good - it brings bond back from being a total psychopath after the death of Vespa in Casino Royale (which I think is my favourite).

I was very disappoint with Skyfall - the first 75% was excellent, but everything from the tube-train crashing (spoiler!) onwards was garbage IMO.

edit:

+1 You Only Live Twice. By far the best - baddie's lair in an extinct volcano, gyrcopter in a suitcase, bad kung fu - you can't beat that.

that's a very strong argument - I think that's certainly my "definitive" Bond film.

Goldfinger by far, its got all the ingredients:
The best Bond in Connery, tick
An evil villain, tick
The obligatory henchman that you remember, tick
Pussy Galore, tick
The car, tick
M and Q, tick
007 saving the yanks again, tick

I am lost for words that people rate Skyfall so highly, not even the best Daniel Craig Bond film.

I think Casino Royale and Goldeneye are maybe my favourites although despite thinking Roger Moore was generally rubbish Live and Let Die is ruddy awesome. Best bit is the very end when the voodoo dude is sitting on the back of the train cackling away.

For me the best is between Casino Royal and Skyfall, gritty darker and Bond isn't really the good guy.

Mind, I'm pretty mleh about the whole thing really. Some combination of Get Carter and Tinker, Tailor for preference.

IMHO the best Bond film is OHMSS, followed by from The Living Daylights / From Russia with Love / Casino Royale.
Best Bond however is Craig - opening scene in Casino Royale is excellent, and I really liked his chemistry with Dench. Moore wasn't helped by the general level of poor storylines / stupid comedy moments that appeared in his later films(The start of For your eyes only where he drops Blofeld down the smoke stack if a pet hate of mine)and Brosnan was just too cheesy.
Oh and Maryam D'abo FTW.

Casino Royale for me, also enjoyed Skyfall and QoS was muddled but not dire, I think it just suffered a bit from coming straight after Craig's brilliant debut, difficult second album syndrome.

I think Brosnan's era is currently suffering from being new enough that people compare it to the excellent recent films whilst not being old enough to be 'camp retro' and viewed with rose tinted nostalgia in the way the Connery/Moore films are, give it time, Golden Eye was a great film.

The one Bond film that had me utterly 100% gripped from start to end though... Casino Royale.

OHMSS.

Even with Lazenby's wooden acting (is Roger Moore's any better?)

Simply the best Bond story, well made, dramatic and atmospheric, less gadget driven, great locations, especially the mountain top lair (Piz Gloria), skiing, best Bond music, Louis Armstrong song, Telly Savills and...

Diana Rigg !

Can't be beat, and I hope they don't remake it, though they keep saying they might do it. In style the nearest to it is probably Goldeneye, though many others are actually better Bond films.

Worked on the last three and I know exactly how the budgets are soo bloody high!
They are the best of the lot though - QoS did get ruined because of the strikes - caused all sorts of mayhem during shooting and elements/locations were cancelled :-/
Casino Royale is the best out of them - DC got properly battered filming it.
QoS had a few "unrepeatable" moments on set in the small hours of the night 😀

Love Goldfinger - and watched it with my eight year old lad before Christmas, and he loved it. And generally a fan of Connery.
But Daniel Craig in both Casino Royale and especially Skyfall have been fab.
