Dream Theater anyone?

The most consistently great band I've ever heard, epic songs >20 minutes which don't get boring once throughout them.

lifer thank you soo much for that post, I've seen the last 2 minute of that video about 3 times and never known who they were or what the track is called. I was even going to test the STW mind hive a couple of years back with a description of shouty beardy blokes in a church! Any particular albums I should look out for by this lot?

Would have to be the Clash. Dodgy politics sometimes, but right causes and hearts in the right places. But undeniably the best live band ever.

If I truly had to pick one or two bands who's music consistently moves me and entertains me and makes the hairs on my neck stand up then Elbow and Arcade Fire. Both have that epic yet intimate quality, huge music that still sounds personal and close; I can't describe it any other way. Got tickets for Elbow at the O2 next year, in the standing area. That's going to be quite a gig, first time I'll have been in the arena. Wish I'd got tickets for Arcade Fire there now, after reading the reviews.

Right now its the Jim Jones Revue. Raw. Even when you play them quiet they're loud

My fave band when I was 16, I remember my girlfriend not liking my t-shirt. But that was 1980... things have moved on!!
