You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
If you had to go to a desert island, other than your bike, what albums would you take with you and why?
I'd go for:
Dire Straits- 'Brothers in Arms' because it's my first memories of great music.
Stone Roses- 'Stone Roses'
Radiohead- 'The Bends'
Bob Dylan- Any one of about 5 albums
Small Faces-'Ogdens Nut Gone Flake'
(Because they're all great)
You're only allowed single tunes, not albums...
that's an impossible no-choice situatiuon until you are in it. Imagine being stuck on an island say, at the age of 21 with all your knowledge and interest in music. and then being stuck there for the rest of your life listening to what you were into when you were shipwrecked with no chance or choice of developing your interests. even the good stuff would end up driving you mad. 40 years of the stone roses. no thanks!
dont be silly radiohead will help lift that mood 🙄
Well that's a typically un-constructive response which seems to be increasingly common here these days. Why post a response if you have nothing useful to say?

Who started this thread?
I'm just trying to get an idea of what people are listening to and we might even introduce each other to some new great music. I should have added in 'constructive responses only please'
Leonard Cohen - Last Year's Man (But really, I would take the whole 1975 'Best of' album, as well as 'Ten New Songs' and probably not listen to much else)
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Bob Dylan - Shelter From the Storm
Bruce Springsteen - Streets of Philadelphia
Dire Straits - Sultans of Swing
Neil Young - Heart of Gold
Cowboy Junkies - Sweet Jane (as well as the original)
Tom Petty - Mary Jane's Last Dance
Van Morrison - Brown Eyed Girl
Bruce Cockburn - Lovers in a Dangerous Time
Come on! We can pass 245+ posts fighting about religion, but we can't be arsed to fight about people's choice in music? What's with this forum?!?

Whoops I've done albums and I have done 9. I like them all
I couldn't do 9 songs I like too many. 😆
And it is albums I was right, sorry about the 9th one.
Theres just so much great music around and some isn't heard of.
I only heard Band of Horses by watching the amazing Danny Macaskill on You Tube and they have been around for yonks. Good old You Tube. 😆
Beeethoven's 6th.
Led Zeppellin "4"
The Sound "Thunder Up"
Enya "Watermark"
Miles Davis "Bitches Brew" ("Kind of Blue" is a classic, but I might want something challenging occasionally)
Billy Cobham/Ron Carter/Kenny Barron "The Art of Three"
"Bjork"
John McLaughlin Trio "Live at the Royal Festival Hall"
This really difficult - what about... then there's... and so on. That's the 8 for now I guess.
I'll need a NAIM hifi with proper suspended directional cables and a clean power supply of course. 😉

BLESS!!
(Stay cool now, won't you...)
as much as I love and understand Atmosphere, or How Soon is now. doon't want to be stuck on an island for ever with those fabulous pieces of music.
Can't I just take my iPod? It would take up far less space.
Of course you can.
No space for headphones though.
😉
