I have a blue VW Golf. It had done precisely 789 miles between 28th October and 21st February. I checked to claim a bit of cash back from the insurance at renewal time. And 240 of those miles were the last time I was able to visit my dad before lockdown.
Used to own a Mk3 Fundeo. When it died, we took the opportunity to really branch out. Spent a joyous afternoon at Car Giant in White City, had a good sit and poke about in every big estate available.

The current Pimp-Mobile is an ex-demo Volvo V90 with almost* every option ticked. It's so cavernous I've had to crawl into the boot to get a bike out and it more or less drives itself on most roads. I now drive around car parks looking for the perfect gap so it can park itself.
Favourite toy is a button to whack people in the back seats with the headrest if they annoy me. It's an AWD diesel but since my personal carbon footprint over the last 12 months is more of a carbon nuclear crater, I'm living with it.
* except for the bangin' sound system which I'm still resentful about.
my current one is 3litre v6 pickup truck which im sure will cause all sorts of planet killer accusations, but find me something small and econimical that will drive through quaries and landfill sites, haul 3 tonnes and has a closed bed to stick samples of nasty infectious things in, or stinky petrochenical things in. Even worse i have to have diesel as petrol and electric vehicles cant enter COMAH sites. I am basically automotive satan 🙁

I'm dying to buy a Panda 4x4. Especially the Cross version with the little red tow hooks. I'd swap my van for one in a second but it couldn't carry a YZ125 in the boot.
Berlingo for general duties, mainly driven my my wife, Navara for tree work duties, Trafic for rope access stuff, just chopped in the motorhome for a caravan and this is sat in the garage waiting for warmer sunnier weather.

Both ours. Seat is 95K and not missed a beat, ideal for learning to drive and local runs car with a hoofing big estate boot. Ovlov is 140k, ideal for carrying multiple bikes, boats and bodies, cruiser down the road and the best car we have ever owned.

Carries 2 dogs, pulls the caravan far better than any other car I've had, more economically too, lugs bikes around no problem, inside & out and travels across any terrain I've needed to cross without even batting an eyelid.
I think I may be hanging on to this one for quite some time. 🙂

After my VRS Estate died a few years ago I got a last of the line, fully specc’d up B7 Passat Estate which is fast enough in 2litre form and pretty spacious - though not Superb or EClass spacious. I’ll be keeping it until we move, perhaps. The good lady drives the Golf Mk5 - best looking imo- in GT sport diesel guise. It’s getting at 12 years old but only just hit 100k miles and still looks and drives ace. She would replace it if we had the money but I think it’s worth keeping forever.
I’d love a Sunday fun MX5 or TypeR but have less cash than I have space - and I have no space.

2008 Saab 9-5 Aero estate. It's comfortable, fast, and spacious. I chose to ignore the tax and petrol costs and think of how much something that offers similar would cost in depreciation each month.
07 plate Alfa Romeo 159 JDTM 16v Lusso here. It has a certain lantern-jawed, low slung charm and the interior is a nice place to sit with leather(ish) chairs and whatnot. I wouldn't be seen dead in an Audi or BMW and Mercs for me don't hold much appeal beyond the old W134 which is just timeless if you owned one of these you could be an aristocrat or a plumber, it simply wouldn't matter.
1990 Mk2 Golf. ‘Entry-level classic’ that can still do the daily duties, cruise on the motorway and haul kids and bikes.
All that as well as being one of the greats when it comes to everyday car design IMHO. The late 80’s were a great era for well engineered German cars.
So much this. Aside from an old Saab 9000, the Mk2 Golf probably the most ergonomically perfect car I've ever driven. Everything falls within easy reach of your fingertips, anyone can fit comfortably in one and the pedals & steering wheel are perfectly aligned, it's even easy to heel & toe. It's surprising just how many cars get these basics wrong. I've also driven a few Mk4 Golfs, while the plastics and blue instruments are lovely, they're deathly dull and inert.
There's some lovely stuff in here: @bartesque's TVR, yum. There's little modern stuff that excites me although @paino's Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaag is bloody lovely. I need rear seats for kids though.
@fruitbat - lovely. I was always too cautious to own an Alfa and now feel I've missed out not owning a busso engined car.

@toby1 - @jamesoz has it: Vauxhall Monaro VXR. Aussie-built as a Holden (RIP) and rebadged by Vauxhall as part of the GM group. Complete bogan but I love it for that: 6.0 LS2 V8 shared with the Corvette C6 of the same era, manual 'box that needs your shoulder to change gear, LSD, and little in the way of electronics to go wrong (or keep you out of a hedgerow) compared to newer cars. Fairly old chassis architecture so it's not sophisticated in the least, but I love it.

That Busso is an amazing motor - had a 2.5 V6 in my old 156, it sounded like an F1 car and revved so smoothly. It also drank like an F1 car though. Got to love those chrome intake trumpets.
Yep - the diesel engine in the 159 is a GM design, shared with Saab and whatnot. The 159 is an interesting car - designed on a premium platform to be shared with GM, Saab etc the other two manufacturers dropped out and Alfa carried this unique platform alone.
@paino, that’s very nice. I bet that’s noisy as hell. Going out in the Aston is noisy, I had a TVR and that was just deafening, couldn’t go out before 10am as it woke everyone up!

The first issue I bought was the second one, opened it sitting on the plane going on holiday, and proceeded to unfold a four page blueprint of the 917, before getting lost in an article about Piech's story behind its creation. Personally I'd like more engineering in there, but we're a bit short of LJK Setright's.
Going back to the beginning, I've a slightly battered FN2 that will be looking for a new home shortly... Will be cheap if anyone needs to scratch that itch...

That’s going imminently, I’ve just ordered a new Kuga that should arrive by the end of the month. Only the little engine, but the lease deals were super cheap. Can’t wait, not had a new car for ages!

Don't want to get rid, but don't have much use for it now that the GF has a ten minute bike ride to work. Nice car to drive buzz along alone roads.

Bought it at 10 months old. Car was registered before they were released in the UK. Nissan Primera 1.8 SVE petrol. Loads of toys, reversing camera (for a 19 year old car) sat nav, CD changer etc etc. It's the bike hauler. I've looked after it, and it's on 135k now and has been trouble free - just usual maintenance which I do most of it ! Takes 4 big trail bikes, riders and kit round Wales. The boot is huge. Haven't got rid as it's been so reliable. No point.
The dust is as a result of Wales Rally at Tyr Prince Raceway about 3 years ago. Took weeks to get rid of it all.

My JDM turbo Legacy. For when you live your life a quarter mile at a time but also want to bring home some ikea wardrobes afterwards. LPG and randomly low tax and insurance make it almost as cheap to live with as my old Mondeo, though the boot isn't quite as epic.
Mr Subaru claims 260bhp for these, about the same as the STi of the time- this one made 245 on the dyno, which is alright for completely standard and 16 years old. It's getting a slightly bigger turbo and I just recently put a 3 inch system and HKS sports cat on it, which'll be enough to take it up 300-ish, which unfortunately is all this particular EJ20 is good for so any more will need some heroics/big spends (combination of fairly high compression and a pretty weak crank and rods). Being a pretty recent import it's in ridiculously good nick for its age (I'd almost forgotten what it's like to work on a car without having to fight every bolt) It has some Whiteline handley bits and Cusco coilovers all round, and a budget monoblock brake upgrade off of a Lexus 430. And I like it. Only real black mark is that it's an auto- the 5EAT box isn't terrible but the centre diff can't cope with the power, already blew one up by being a boy racer 🙁
There's another one on the drive, a complete shed of a UK Spec B 3 litre. Bought it to donate its 6 speed manual to this one but that project's been a bit forever delayed.
