I'd never heard of them before but they seem to be some of the most obnoxious folk winding up the public ,the police, security filming folk but if anyone objects they then claim assault and phone the police for help
I didn't know you could film anyone's face and stick it on you tube
I hope there are none on here
I recently had some sponsored (WTF) videos shown to me of 'auditors' in action on facebook. Have since deleted the facebook app again...
I just don't get it - they seem to deliberately antagonise business operators to cause a row and accuse them of assault, even though on the couple of videos I saw they initiated an altercation. If they want to fly a drone over a site, are licensed and want to share the videos/report some form of non-compliance to the relevant body then fair play to them, but why they need to stand in plain sight and make a nuisance of themselves to create confrontation is beyond me, regardless of their legal rights, it's just effing stupid.
There's been a couple of threads on here about them.
They are "interesting" types that's for sure. Gifters in the main with a few genuinely believing they are doing some weird "public service."
There have indeed been a few previous threads:

Oh, op, check out Sovereign Citizens, they are a sub species of auditors. They too started in America and have a foothold over here now thanks to the batshittery of the 'net. They are pretty amazing to watch. In essence, they don't think laws apply to them due to the Magna Carta and whatever else they want to rope in to support their views. 😆
Sovereign citizens are six cans short of a six pack and highly entertaining. A lot of their perceived rights appear to be based on some archaic maritime traditions.

These are the wallopers who stroll onto private land to film and then get all "free man of the land" when security breathes on them, yes? I remember the previous thread.
One part Flat Earth, three parts "this will get me clicks, cha-ching." It's like that nutbag cyclist who spends his life goading motorists and then screaming out licence plate numbers when he finally gets the reaction he craves. It's monetised attention-seeking.
They are far right agitators and should be regarded as such.
Unfortunately their actions could cause acceptable freedoms like taking photographs in public to be reconsidered.
Like the rest of the far right, they just make life shittier for everyone.
The only thing you can do is if you know one personally, tell them.
I hope there are none on here
ISTR that on previous threads on this subject, a few have spoken up in defence of it. I wouldn't be surprised if we have a few on here. Or a least a few who think they are doing a good thing, even if they don't wave cameras at security guards themselves. The couple I had the misfortune to watch came across as arrogant, shit stirring bellends looking to provoke a response from people just trying to do their job, and crying like babies when they got one.

I'd be surprised if we didn't, we have everything else.
Conceptually I can get behind it, it is at least on paper guerrilla investigative journalism. Asking questions is good. Except, it's not, not really. It's antagonising low-paid workers into becoming the next Ronnie Pickering. It's cruel.
Round them up, dispose of them.
Delusional ignorant pathetic objects whi serve no useful purpose.
Ronnie Pickering
Who?
Who?
Ronnie Pickering.
They don't come across well but it is enjoyable to see little Hitler cops or security get schooled.
Why would you go out Ur way to antagonise someone while they go about their job…..sad individuals
Because people are inherently voyeuristic, and artificially manufacturing conflict pays top dollar.

Whilst I get what you mean, the trouble is that educating that cop on paragraph 4, subsection 3 of the right to enter a police compound as long as you are carrying a ferret under both arms, according to a law made in 1827... Stops that copper responding to a stabbing in the high street or a wife getting beaten up by her drunk husband back from a heavy night/day out.

I don't really think that "schooled" is the right word here. "Challenged" or "belittled" perhaps, degraded even. But these wallopers aren't in a position to be schooling anyone.
I've had occasional run-ins with your 'little Hitler' types over the years but the difference is, I didn't set out to actively seek it.

... and probably isn't a law any more anyway. They're into "no free man..." Magna Carta territory here.
I've found over the years that the more someone screams "I know my rights!!" the less likely it is that they actually do.

I'm most definitely biased here with my lad being in the police!
I think I now liken coppers to being the justice rubbish of being GP's, they need to have a good working knowledge of everything but for the minutae of law you get referred to a specialist. Which is a senior officer, CPS or a magistrate I suppose.
I know I could never do his job, they have to deal with some types of people a lot of the time that I've spent my whole life avoiding whenever possible. It's not for me.
I think the best way to deal with them is to walk up, ask what they're about, and when they explain say, yeah ok, turn around and walk away.
With nobody bothering to pay them any attention they'll get bored and leave before too long. They are seeking attention, and the best way to combat that is not to give them any.
Much like those who go to art galleries and glue themselves to the floor/wall.
Herd the public out, close the doors and switch off the lights, leaving them alone in the dark.

Yep, totally agree. Where my lad is stationed they are told not to engage with them other than where there is a statutory need. My lad hasn't had the pleasure of meeting any but his station has been visited in the past apparently.
It's a funny old world. The thing is, I totally agree that cops need to be held accountable (who wouldn't?) but this isn't in the same universe as doing that.

Any “auditor’ needs their hard drive checked and put on a watch list
See, that's where I have difficulty. I think these auditors are dicks but I also don't want a police state. I think the best thing to do is ignore them.

Indeed.
I wouldn't expect your average copper to know the law beyond what's expected of them day-to-day. That's not to undermine the role, rather it's not their job.
I watched one of these fly-on-the-wall Police Interceptors shows earlier today. One of the patrols felt the collar of a ne'er-do-well and then radioed back to the office to check on the details of where they stood ahead of arrest and investigation. The system works as intended.
They don’t come across well but it is enjoyable to see little Hitler cops or security get schooled.
The ones I've seen are as thick as mince and in no position to 'school' anyone. Bullying and antagonising people trying to earn an honest crust, often for not much more than minimum wage, just to get YouTube likes. Pretty shitty behaviour imo.
Oh dear. A bit of balance.
For every walloping dick swallower, there's usual a thick thug in blue happy to overreach his/her/its authority because they think they're the omnipotent, omnipresent invokers of the LAW.
I agree some of the 'auditors' come over as complete tosseurs but they're usually equally matched by the paramilitary dick heads that swarm like wasps at the mere hint of a teenage boy with a camera phone.
I also think the coppers are usually a pretty good match for their 'clients' differentiated only by the uniform...
More please - feed my guilty pleasure...

Do Not Feed The Troll?
As I said, I've had 'differences of opinion' with those in positions of power or pseudo-power. But to tar everyone in uniform as a "thick thug" makes you no better those thugs you denigrate.
At the end of the day they're just people, you're going to get good ones and bad ones. I've had good and bad roofers, good and bad GPs, good and bad shop assistants, good and bad technical support... etc etc. Neither the police nor private security types are immune from this.
Oi! I'm not a troll. How very dare you...
Yeah I know I'm generalising but it seems, the infantry seem to be manned mostly by the thickos. Clearly if you're expected to jump in every Saturday night, too much critical thinking capacity can be a bad thing.
As for good and bad. I'm less inclined to be understanding with our 'boys in blue'. When you get a bad roofer, it might look a bit shit or leak. Get a bad copper and you could be bashed up, inside, raped or even dead - under the colour of law. I expect much, much more from the people Policing me than say my Postman or Milkman.

On a personal level I'm most definitely biased as I said but I'm not blind. When my son mentioned the career move I was ambivalent. We had many a chat about the police and still do.
I remember chatting about the fact he would likely have to rub shoulders with cops that he would really question as to why they joined up. Such if life in any career but given the specifics of this job it could be far more problematic.
We also chatted about how it would change his life in unexpected ways. People could potentially intensity dislike him or even his Mrs/ kid because of his job, no matter how good it fair he was at it. I also reminded him of the obvious, that a large part of his job would be telling people they can't do something they want to do or have already done. People just don't like that. Many times that person will be extremely emotional or drunk/ drugged and hence are not thinking clearly. There'll also be occasions when he will see death or the abject cruelty humankind is capable of, particularly to the weak or vulnerable. I suppose I didn't/dont want the job to change him though I acknowledge it would and possibly must to some degree or he would be left scarred by what he would see.
I'm waffling on but I know a few of his cohort, all been in the force only a year, all in their teens/20's and they've already seen things that would make me question my career choice instantly.
I've had low level negative experience with police over the decades but when you *really* need one, they are the only people you want to see.
Anyway, I'm not defending a whole institution, just one mid 20's lad that's at work till late tonight and he's a good'un.👍

Yeah I know I’m generalising but it seems, the infantry seem to be manned mostly by the thickos.
My lad would not claim to be Einstein but he doesn't meet many Leonardo's on a Saturday evening either.
Though some of them are artists. 😉😁
@poopscoop I know I'm generalising and you're right, there are good uns and despite everything, you want them around when it all goes shit shaped. I'm sure yours is one if the good guys so apologies if he got swept up into my generalisation.
Hopefully your lad will be bright eyed and bushy tailed after another 5 years in the job and not get infected with the institutional cynicism that seems to pervade after a bit of exposure. It must be really difficult to keep going and resist when surrounded by people who have given in.
<edit> Let's not forget, some of the infantry are transitional. Your lad at 1 year may be on his way to better things. I was thinking more of the PC after 20 years service than people at the start of their careers.
Canary in the coal mine
The auto sores are, frequently, utter penises - bit being a penis isn’t illegal in our country, and you only need to see a couple of videos to see how poorly many police officers cope with someone standing their ground and refusing to give their information when not legally obliged to do so.
The number of police overreactions, unlawful arrests, or just incidents of police officers trying to bullshit their way through interactions with the public are quite startling…. And once you realise that if they are getting the law/ their powers so badly wrong these interactions, they are almost certainly doing just as poor a job when dealing with normal members of the public, thrn you realise what every experienced copper has been saying for years - “job’s f***ed…”

Genuinely, not an ounce of offence taken.
As you allude to, I do worry about him, physically of course but the emotional toll too.
For reasons I wont go into, a nasty piece of work had a large input into his earlier life. I lost many, many nights sleep over the effect it would have on him as I was powerless to remove this influence from his life.
I needn't have worried as it turned out, I can say with absolute cold, hard analytical lack of favour that he's got a good and kind heart.
So now, I worry about that at night in bed, his new career!
Yah' can't bloody win. 😁
@poopscoop "Stops that copper responding..." - the copper is the one wasting taxpayers money here, once they know their limits they'll have more time for more important work - who knows how much more time they wasting on similar stuff presently? (I'm no expert, but have been stopped for basically wearing a hoodie).
I watched one of these fly-on-the-wall Police Interceptors shows ...
Seriously @Cougar, one piece of a TV programme means everything is ok?
But to tar everyone in uniform as a “thick thug"
You've just called auditors all sorts of things
Well this has taken a turn. They’re not auditors, they are content creators. They are out to piss people off and get views, comments and subscribers. Best ignored or mocked.
Seriously @Cougar, one piece of a TV programme means everything is ok?
I didn't say that at all. Rather I presented an anecdote in isolation. Draw or leap to your own conclusions as you see fit.
You’ve just called auditors all sorts of things
Well, I called them one thing and I've yet to see evidence to the contrary. Do you have reason to believe that there are "auditors" who aren't being deliberately antagonistic in order to stir up lucrative clickbait YT content?
You said
The system works as intended.
That's an "anecdote in isolation"?
Neither of us have watched all the auditor videos going. In your opinion they are wallopers etc. Videos I've seen have them doing perfectly legal things then getting challenged by cops who have no professional basis to do so from what I can see (usually way more than one) and standing up to them. Sure they can get a bit arsey, who wouldn't understand that given the level of uniformed intimidation?
Equally I've not met any of them, don't know their stories etc, so I'm not getting into name calling. Sorry but you are being hypocritical here

I said "one of the patrols..." Maybe I should have said "the system works as intended in that particular case." But, naively, I wasn't expecting such a degree of pointless pedantry.
Neither of us have watched all the auditor videos going. In your opinion they are wallopers etc.
Of course. But how many do we have to watch before we're into the realms of "beyond reasonable doubt"? Do we have to watch two thousand Flat Earth videos in the hope that 2001 might be the doozy which blows it all open?
Do you have a non-walloper auditor video to offer as a counterpoint?
Wannabe journalists that even the Daily Mail wouldn't care to entertain.

Sovereign citizens are six cans short of a six pack and highly entertaining. A lot of their perceived rights appear to be based on some archaic maritime traditions.
One subset of the sovereign citizens have this theory that if you declare yourself to be an adjective, the law doesn't apply to you, or something equally crazy. They believe that when the U.S. abandoned the gold standard, federal citizens became collateral for government debts, so federal citizens have been sold into slavery. However, if you declare yourself to be a sovereign citizen and identify yourself as an agent acting behalf of your federal citizen identity, then you are free from slavery. So, John Smith can free himself by identifying himself as "Noble John Smith, authorized representative of John Smith." There's no point trying to make any logical sense of what they say, they're utterly nuts and just seem to make up whatever nonsense suits them at the time.
Drone auditors have single-handedly caused the CAA to consult on certain flying practices that current pilots enjoy. With the possible outcome of more flying restrictions.
This means for people like me (with full qualifications) my professional life just got more complex because of some idiot shooting random industrial estates with no aesthetic or practical merit at all.
They're wasting everyone's time.
Drone auditors have single-handedly caused the CAA to consult on certain flying practices that current pilots enjoy.
Aye, watching this with interest. I suspect my flying days are numbered as a hobbyist.
The hoops will simply become unviable for those who cannot or do not earn a living from it.
I've always wondered what would happen if you enthusiastically invited them in for the full tour and a cup of tea in the canteen.
"Oh, and would you mind flying your drone over that corner of the roof? We're convinced it's leaking in heavy rain."
I suppose the takeaway is they're not all bad. Bullies in blue or teenagers with camera phones (AKA 'Auditors').
We had one "DJ Audits" come to our area, thankfully we knew he'd be in the area (not sure how) and enough people knew the operating mode of these people that there was able to be a heads up to all staff including security, essentially "he's allowed to fly his drone and film so don't try and challenge that - he's out to deliberately provoke some conflict to put on his youtube channel to don't rise to it and just be polite".
He came, people were polite, he didn't get any conflict. The resultant video is quite dull - just some fairly uninteresting shots of the outside of a large industrial facility and some moderately uninteresting facts shared by the people he spoke to answering his questions. He summed up that is seems like a nice place and good people but you can tell it's not what he was after. A quick check shows it's got 48K views vs his more succesful visits where he has a juicy bit of conflict to use as a clickbait headline which are more like 500-800K views.
You could find it on Youtube by searching for "DJ Audits Cummins Daventry" if you wanted to.
I'm expecting one at my employers site at some point.
It's a COMAH tier2 site with up to 100tons of toxic liquids at any time. We have regular HSE and EA visits, the fire brigade regularly use our premises to train at and we are a spotless well managed and operated site. The crazy thing is it's a private site but with public access - there's a farm further up the valley that has access through and it has numerous footpaths leading off from it. There are daily dog walkers/horses, colleague kids from next door wandering through so an auditor would have a field day!
It's one of my guilty pleasures, every month or so I might hide away and check the latest uploads. They regularly show the terrible policing standards and abuse of powers even after years of being exposed. It's not a huge leap to imagine how certain people get treated when the cameras aren't rolling.
I can see why authoritarian right wingers don't appreciate them though🎣
There's one guy called Charles Veitch who pops up on my YouTube from time to time and he seems like one of the worst people I can imagine. Absolute sadcase.
I created a post on here a few months ago about this as i had one visit my premises.
The YT auditor opened up a whole new world to me!!
Basically, he was trying to instigate some form of confrontation so he could upload it and create some 'drama'......we asked him if he wanted a tour and a cup of tea.....he soon foxtrot oscar'd.
I'm guessing these auditors must have chanced their arm turning up at an MOD site or such?
Now, I can imagine that might not be a particularly wise move. One of them must have done it though?
I noticed one did a prison once. Fortunately my feed no longer puts them up and until this thread had forgotten about them, had hoped it would run its course. I enjoy photography of industrial subjects and am conscious that I may be taken for one - difference being that conflict is avoided if possible and no drone.
And please, please, please stop using "sad" to describe folk who are not mainstream and have different interests. It's bully talk.
I’m guessing these auditors must have chanced their arm turning up at an MOD site or such?
Credenhill attracts them as, there's a few videos on YT but nothing to say really. MOD police have sent them in their way.
A few sites I've worked at have had them appear. Usually harmless and most interactions are filmed via GoPro.
Most MOD sites have restricted airspace so flying a drone is going to go down poorly.
And please, please, please stop using “sad” to describe folk who are not mainstream and have different interests. It’s bully talk.
And when that interest is making a nuisance of yourself when others are simply trying to to their job then how would you describe them?
I work as a driver for a builders merchants. I've had one the useless Muppets sticking his phone in my face, telling me I was doing something wrong. I was nice and polite, but he didn't seem impressed by half the building site taking the piss out of him😁
And when that interest is making a nuisance of yourself when others are simply trying to to their job then how would you describe them?
And who said anything about making a nuisance of oneself? It was a general observation - not just auditors. Been on the receiving end of it for various offences: urban walking, peak bagging, cycling, orienteering. watching non league football (not my fault, my team was in the second division once), watching cricket etc.
when that interest is making a nuisance of yourself when others are simply trying to to their job
In all vids I have seen, auditors are being challenged without grounds by security/fuzz - you have your statement the wrong way round.
Drones vrs MoD
In the 1990s we had no idea of the true military significance of drones. The first time I ever saw one being used in a "making a nuisance of yourself" was c. 2000 on Channel 4 where Mark Thomas sent one up from the perimeter of Welford Depot - that motorway junction being no doubt a YouTube staple now. It was probably The Comedy Product, it will be out there amongst his stuff
The film crew was very careful to keep the drone from overflying the site, but it is a pretty scary thing now.
I can see why authoritarian right wingers don’t appreciate them though
I’m a lefty snowflake hand wringing type and think they’re a set of right dicks. As per my previous post they aren’t out to do good or expose corruption. They aren’t Roger Cook FFS. They’re rambling around industrial estates hoping for a confrontation so they can get likes and subscribers
As a real auditor I find these argumentative charlatans quite offensive.
But alas youtube has just given what was the local village idiot a megaphone.
Best ignored
There's few videos where the antagonists get slapped or knocked out. Worth watching just for a bit of karma/rough justice.
In all vids I have seen, auditors are being challenged without grounds by security/fuzz – you have your statement the wrong way round.
Yeah because you're definitely seeing unedited footage shot from end to end.
People get flustered when they're harassed, they're human. The last thread had the camera walloper constantly shouting the guard back and got so in his face he pushed him to get him out his space. Now by the letter of the law that's not right but its easy to see how people can get wound up to that point. Why do you think there were two of them, one to do the aggro and another to hold the camera and be "reasonable".
That's an otherwise decent person at the end of their thether.
One day they're going to turn up to the wrong quiet estate and pick on someone who isn't otherwise decent that will have no hesitation over giving them both a good kicking, destroying the camera and dumping the pair of them in the middle of nowhere. I've seen it happen over less.
Of course the auditors are mostly dicks. Unfortunately, so too are many of the security guard jobsworth types who think that a uniform give them the right to bully and assault members of the public who may be dicks, but who are fundamentally harmless dicks.

one set of these dicks are mostly minding their own business in a portacabin, drinking tea and reading the sun, whereas the other is going out, actively looking for trouble, and then screaming the victim when they eventually create it.
The security folk they are winding up are only doing what they are employed to do, there have always been no unauthorised access signs for years and as for that filming folk that probably don't want filmed. I've not had any training as to how to deal with the hassle and cheek and would probably end up getting into a scrap and a possible assault charge
That UK tyrant **** with the Scottish accent really boils my bladder content
Unfortunately, so too are many of the security guard jobsworth types who think that a uniform give them the right to bully and assault members of the public who may be dicks, but who are fundamentally harmless dicks.
The majority probably just wanted a nice quiet job. A lot of them are agency so whether you end up as the out of hours receptions in an office block or checking HGV drivers ID at a gate is just the luck of the draw.
The only time some random jobsworth tried to stop me taking a fairly innocuous touristy photo for no reason other than that he thought he could ("it's for the health and safety of the buildings" was what he actually said) he wasn't just sitting in a portacabin, he was marching around looking for an excuse to harass someone.
If they are genuinely employed to assault and harass people who are standing around taking photos, then that's additionally the fault of the employer of course.
Of course the auditors are mostly dicks. Unfortunately, so too are many of the security guard jobsworth types who think that a uniform give them the right to bully and assault members of the public who may be dicks, but who are fundamentally harmless dicks.
Or, the security types are just people at their work. Often low-paid work that they probably don't receive much training and support from.
Auditing is real bottom-rung content.
I’m guessing these auditors must have chanced their arm turning up at an MOD site or such?
Now, I can imagine that might not be a particularly wise move. One of them must have done it though?
They turned up at our site, where i used to work ~30 years ago. Not exactly a MOD site, but lots of armed police and/or army as security.
Not long after a credible bomb threat.
Had one on a site I worked at ~30 years ago on a grad training scheme.
He used to come by about once a month and take photos and tell security that we were killing the planet (it was a chemical factory, so we probably were) and he would take photos to prove it and no one could stop him. You can’t see much from outside, so no one cared much. Worst thing about him was that he’d see someone leaving and follow them, telling them how evil they were.
Anyway, one morning we turn up at work and there been a plausible terrorist threat to blow up a chemical factory. And we have thousands of gallons of
highlymassively explosive chemicals on site. So they’ve got police in doing enhanced security checks on new starters (me), no more day passes if you forget your security card, all contractors sent off site, extra security around the site. But not the normal guys, it’s either armed police or military. Big blokes with guns, bullet proof vests and helmets.Few days later this guy turns up with his camera. Starts ranting at the front gate.
Within about 90 second he’s cuffed, face down on the floor, with large guys pointing machine guns at him. And then the area being cleared while his bag was inspected. From what I understand, he was held for a few days under whatever passed for the terrorism act in the early 90s until they could work out who he was and what he was doing and who he was connected to. Absolutely zero reporting of anything except “man arrested at chemical factory”.
They eventually found the bomb at another factory.
Unsurprisingly, he didn’t come back again.
Reviving this thread as we had a couple of these 'auditors' visit the site I work at recently.
They really are utter knobs wasting their own and others' time. As mentioned several times above, they have no real interest in the locations they are filming, provide no public service and are just looking for an argument so they can get more clicks on their generally really, really boring videos.
On both occasions our security guards were great. Politely asked what they were doing, said "Carry on. You're on public land" and then went back to the security hut. No hint of confrontation and the resulting videos are spectacularly boring.
Actually there is one benefit from these throbbers' visits: we get to see the state of the building roofs without having to pay for someone to look at them for us.
But you can still fly over people's property legally 🙁
I hate that to the first order.
Lack of knowledge poor training on the land owners part, just fuels these grifters.
PS Is their a 150m low fly limit over private property in some, as it seems pointless drone code.
Actually there is one benefit from these throbbers’ visits: we get to see the state of the building roofs without having to pay for someone to look at them for us.
That would be an ace way of turning the conversation round. Oh great, yeah, can you get a bit closer to that bit? Does this look like a hole to you? Would they stay and be amenable, or just scuttle off to bother someone else?
