Coming home from work this afternoon and a Mercedes C class AMG is speeding up our road, only one car width wide. I’m coming the other way so I slow down expecting him to pull over into a space, no he’s Mr aggressive and drives right up to the front of the car giving me no choice to reverse a fair way back despite there being ample space for him. I politely tell him to slow down and reverse back.
Get home and park, neighbours knock on our door about 10 mins later with our cat wrapped in a blanket, Molly the cat well and truly squashed 😢😢😢😢
You can guess what’s coming next as neighbour checked his cameras the arse hole AMG hit Molly with such speed she was thrown about 20ft into their front garden. He did stop for a about a second and then drove off, yes straight into me !
If he hadn’t been speeding before he hit Molly he may have been able to stop, we’ll never know this for sure though.
Cats do run out in front of cars so I can’t blame him for that.
She was 10 years old we had her from 6months old she was a rescue cat and loved by all including our dog.
Took her to the vets rather than bury her as the foxes and our dog would have had a field day digging her up!
Lots of sadness in the house tonight, youngest son is convinced it’s his fault ( see other post ASC/ADHD) think he’s in shock.
What a day !
She had a good life cats, roads and cars don’t mix !
Aw that is sad, condolences to you and your family geezer. Cats just don't have road sense. But that is no excuse for unsafe driving.
Sorry for your loss. How sad. Cats do get run over all the time sadly. I ran one over myself once. Felt terrible. I did stop and check, and if it's any consolation the cat was dead as a dodo, wouldn't have seen it coming.
Not excusing Mr AMG, he could've stopped, or not. But the outcome would be the same. He could be an ass, or in shock, who knows...
I took my victim to the vets to see if it was chipped and thus, identifiable. It wasn't. Then I went to the pub for a stiff drink.
This is true the outcome would have been the same, I’m not angry with the guy as it was clearly an accident. He got off lightly next time it could be a person.
Speeding on any road isn’t great but a single width road with oncoming traffic is just a disaster.
Dog has realised she’s gone as he’s gone sniffing round for her and can’t find her, he’s now siting by the door waiting for her. 😢
No wonder he was legging it, what a git. I know technically you don't have to stop but what if she'd 'only' been injured.
Sadly I've hit two cats in my life. One I absolutely mullered, went back and it was stone dead, a lady came out from a nearby house and said she knew whose cat it was and she'd tell them.
The other I was crawling down a narrow road into an industrial unit, literally the width of a car with houses either side. A lady was at her door getting a delivery in and as I crawled past at 5mph her cat shot out of her house, levitated like cats do, bumped against my radiator, landed, and shot back into the house. I parked and checked back with the lady who said the cat seemed absolutely fine.
Oddly, these were on exactly the same day about 2 hours apart. Nothing else in 35 years of driving.
That sucks, sorry for your loss 🙁
So sorry for your loss.
So sorry, we'd had our first cat for a year when she was hit by a car. It's amazing how much a little creature makes the house feel different, and how much you notice their absence. Number 2 is an absolute wimp and barely leaves the sofa, let alone the house or back garden so hopefully he'll be with us much longer.
Sorry for your loss. One of our cats got run over on Easter Sunday, although thankfully She's still with us!
There's absolutely no defence for speeding in a residential area; children also run out in front of cars!
Can you not get his address from DVLA and maybe exact some revenge such as frozen sausages in the lawn, nitromors over his precious f****** AMG, or just burn his house down?
Well you never know, next time they’re flying round like a loon they might hit something bigger.
Like a tree for instance.
I’m so sorry.
