Some pretty serious human rights issues going on here:

Do you mean that there was a time recently when people who comitted crimes didn't face any punishment ?

When was this ?

There used to be a time when the law wasn't so perscripitve or sentances so draconian. What damage did they cause?

I get the feeling it was the timing rather than the act. They could have chosen a better weekend for it! The urban equivalent of cheeky trails I suppose.

They have already accepted a caution, which is fair enough. It's the wide-ranging ASBO, the terms of which are decided by TfL not the police, which is worrying.

TfL have applied for the ASBO, and suggested the terms, but it needs to be agreed, and passed in court.

You can't speak to your mates for 10 years...

a friend of mine did 3 years hard time in a Japanese prison.. that's 3 years of not speaking to anyone with the same language..
which didn't really matter as the inmates are not permitted to speak anyway.. a rule punishable by enforced stress postitioning

after 3 years with only vicious orders barked in Japanese.. his inner dialogue and a mental ipod filled entirely with gangster rap his accent was very amusing when he got home.. 😀

(his aversion to noodles is quite serious though)

For Garrett, part of the goal is helping to iron out the security loopholes they exploit.

Aw, come off it, pal.

Yeah, Garrett is a bit of a self-publicist 🙂

If being an irritating self-publicist was a serious crime half the people on this forum would be in a Japanese prison 😉

maybe they might end up do something a bit more constructive without contact with their friends.
like stacking shelves in Budgens.
they might enjoy 'infiltrating' the biscuit aisle.

Why does everything have to be "constructive" - playing in the mud on bikes isn't very constructive 🙂

Pathetic.

I love looking at the urban explorer sites, some of the photos are awe inspiring. Plus it sounds like these guys prepare well, minimise the risks and generally respect the sites.

It seems a bit counter intuitive to me to continue to do things like that and expect to continually get the same penalty

It's as if they're daring the authorities to do something worthy of publicity so they can wallow in the outrage of it all - I dunno

anyway, I suspect TFL's demands will not be granted

Last month TfL applied to issue anti-social behaviour orders

See that bit - applied - not that an ASBO prohibiting them from talking to each other had been granted, but had been applied for.

do you get the difference? Or should we fire up the bus again?

The aim of exploring is to not get caught - I generally try to avoid getting caught 🙂

In cases like this, where it's criminal trespass (almost all exploring is civil trespass, not a criminal offence) then it's fair enough that they get a caution or whatever. Then imposing very punitive extra penalties via the ASBO system goes way beyond what is reasonable.

That story reminds me of this video - one of the most awesome things I have seen in a long time. The ending is defo a brown-trouser moment:

I can't be arsed to watch the full half hour but I suspect your definition of the adjective 'awesome' greatly differs from mine
